Excellent point. Here is what the NCAA should do. 1. Select the 40 best D1A programs over the past 30 years and make them one division.2. They have four conferences that must play each other over an eleven game season meaning 9 conference games.3. Three out of conference games that must be scheduled within this level of football and the NCAA decides who plays whom and the decision is based upon prior season success like the NFL used to do.4. Stop the farce that is the players are amatures and pay them.5. Have a playoff that pays players and coaches extra for advancing.6. You must win your conference to make the playoffs. This scenario would only take two weeks of playoffs. No wild cards or anything else. You either win your conference or you watch the playoffs on TV.When this happens be sure to have your big pants on.That way there will be plenty of room for the monkeys to fly out of your rear.

If you want to participate on our board, you are welcome. There's one simple rule to follow - don't be a douche.I appreciate your insights on recruiting, but if you're going to slight UA's programs, academics...whatever...here, or on other MAC boards...your welcome wears out.I don't believe I "slighted" Akron's program, academics, etc. Akron has had the same problem that Toledo has had the last several years. We both have brought in some great recruits and have seen some of them not make it to campus and others not leave because of academics and discipline, and so forth. I am happy for Toledo that Coach Beckman is very big on academics and discipline and has told all the players what he is expecting. Hopefully that will finally change for Toledo. There is no question that Jermaine has had academic issues. He signed with Toledo last year, but couldn't get qualified so he went to a prep school. Though he is doing better, he's not a solid academic student. That is fact, no matter where he goes to school.......Akron, Toledo, Nebraska, USC, etc. That said, both UT and Akron have won big-time on guys they have brought in that have worked out. Chester Taylor is one example at Toledo. He did not qualify as a freshman, but graduated on time and is not making millions in the NFL.The jury is still out on Jermaine Robinson. You know?Your criteria for success seems a bit convoluted to me, but based on it we are just as successful, if not more so, than Toledo. We have scores of former fball players not making millions in the NFL. -
I have always favored a playoff system. Now that I know Pebo is for a playoff system, I admit I must have been wrong.

Here's hoping things work out better for you than they did for the organizer of club soccer at Wright State. For several years, Their club team actually had a bigger budget than the varsity because, as it turns out, its organizer/coach was using money ($60K+) obtained from one of the college's accounts to "promote" the college and cover the clubs expenses. He ended up fired.

I have a feeling Akron wins by 14.

You couldn't wait for a half a football game to post the final score? The second half of the Testicle State game was something to watch!Testicle State getting blown out during a monsoon in an empty stadium on national television. Wow.

Sounds like you know a lot about this.I have always said, never let the facts get in the way of your beliefs.

Only 17. Just as athletes can back out of the deal, so can the U.

Scout.com has Phil listed as the second best prospect in the country named Tonga. They, along with everyone else, already has him bulked up to 285. Washington State may have had some interest at some point in the past. What happened?
-
Thats an idea. Let's see how that would work out. 24, 12, 6, 3, whoops. No problem, after the final 3 teams are determined, we put them all in a no holds barred pro-style wrastlin' cage match to the death to determine the final 2 teams.

I know they are playing a game there in September. My question was on the 19th of which month do you think construction will be complete. October will be pushing it.
-
19th of which month?

Yes. Most of you "difference makers"are looking for grayshirt opportunities. -
Drawing 41,399 fans also points to soild future as well. It drew over 60,000 plus last year for Purdue and Central Michigan. I would say the MCB future looks very bright indeed. They'll get sponsors even in this bad economy as long they they field an entertaining game draw like they have as of late.Who do you think will be sponsoring the game next year? I'll bet it isn't any of the "big" three or the carpenters union which replaced Chrysler this year. I vote for Extenz, Trojan condoms, and KY lubricant for a bigger, safer Bowl next year.

Maybe out of a sudden (I just love that, out of a sudden) he ain't doing the horizontal hokey pokey with you.

High Cost of Higher Education

These all sound like very legal and thoughtful reactions to the State's veiled threat to reduce State funding unless undergraduate tuition was frozen. Kudos to the Akron Administration for coming up with these ideas to help maintain the University's financial health. -

He's a diamond in the rough..... I disagree. I think, with 2 years of JUCO experience, you'll find Diamond to be a very polished player. What do you think is the best facet of his game? -

I think if the Buckeyes make him an offer he will dump us like a hot potato. -
Jermaine Robinson - Commit
Zipmeister replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football Recruiting
Jermaine is a heck of a player. Hopefully he can find a way to get eligible and stay eligible for you. I was really hoping he would get eligible and come to Toledo. He visited Toledo over the weekend and had his first face to face meeting with the new head coach. Perhaps something at that visit, coupled with what Akron was offering was enough for him to make the switch. Good get guys. This post has been awarded the "Backhanded Compliment Post of the Month" award and as such is eligible for the Backhanded Compliment Post of the Year" award. Congratulations Rocketfootball. -

Gee I think I have seen this thread before; a sure sign there isn't much else going on. I agree Akron University does not sound right. Plus it's seven syllables and takes way too long to say. That's one reason I prefer Akron U. -
Wow, yeah it's hard to translate from the CG images to what we're seeing on the webcams. I had assumed the upper deck in the east stands was completely framed...it appears though that it was only half framed as they're adding a back half now! Is it too soon to get a countdown going? Not only is it not too soon to start a countdown, it's too late to start one.http://www.uakron.edu/stadium/

This is not good news for the start of the Akron dynasty next year. Gill will be back next year with personnel better than Willy and Starks.
