Better bring your long johns for the Dayton trip.

My understanding is the Xavier coach is staying put. Regardless, the chance this kid will pick Akron are about 1 out of 1,000.

I too think we should join a better conference (and we should also cure cancer). Since most of the good schools already have a conference affiliation for football I suggest we start a brand new conference with Notre Dame. We would gain national exposure and our game with ND would be on network TV. Plus, since we would be the only two team conference in the country, we would have a lot of flexibility in OOC scheduling. To make sure we appeal to Midwesterners the name of the conference is obvious - The Big Eleven.

Isn't this whole thread just special? When are you going to start getting to the good stuff and starting working on hair styles for the fellas?

Speaking of believing what people with a vested interest in a project have to say about it, have you noticed how much what will be the playing field currently looks like the lunar surface from the supposed moon landing?

As an FYI. construction at InfoCision Stadium/Summa Field remains on schedule As an R to your FYI. I agree 100%, give or take 45 days.

Working again today (Saturday) by 7 a.m. can only mean one thing. They haven't knocked off too many days of the 45 they are behind schedule.

For the most part, I'd say that your list is pretty probable. The only thing that bothers me enough to mention would be to swap Buffalo with BG. As of now, there is an evident line forming between MAC schools willing to spend on athletics, and those not willing. In any case, I see Akron and Buffalo as two MAC teams who are willing, and should be grouped in the same conference. Not to mention, that gives the CUSA a NY school rather than another Ohio school. The academics at UB are also superior to BG.Could you share the most recent years athletic budgets for all teams in the MAC with the rest of us so we can see what you see?

Oh no!

I'd rather be in C-USA. Its a better place to be if we ever want to make the jump to a BCS conference like the BigEast. As far as I know no teams have ever jumped from the MAC to the BCS, but Cincy, Louisville, South Florida, Depaul, and Marquette all came out of C-USA. I'm sure Memphis and maybe even Central Florida will move up in the near future. But if any school deserved to move up from the MAC straight to the Big East Akron does...I think that being more geographically dispersed is better, we would be exposed to more people and could be playing schools all over the eastern states, as opposed to just playing in the small area that the MAC covers. I want out of the MAC AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! i don't care if its just C-USA. We just need to avoid the A10 and conferences like that, even though they are strong in basketball, they would be a step down...Even though the BCS didn't exist at the time, what about Michigan State?I didn't really do any research, but the wikipedia article about the MAC deosnt have MSU listed under "former members"Oh, well I'm sure they know more there than at the MAC office.

Some interesting information. Once again, the MAC is meddling in the affairs of their teams non-conference schedules even as they can't figure out their own schedule.Appears to me the Conference office was looking our for Akron's best interest.

No. That's why I said that if you focus on one to the exclusion of the other, defenses can set up for it. So it pays to shoot a good balance of 2s and 3s. That keeps the defense guessing and allows you to shoot higher percentages on both. If they know you're shooting nothing but 3s, they can relax on the inside and contest the outside shots more intensely. The best scenario is to be good at both 2s and 3s, and then take advantage of what the defense gives you.No, the best scenario is to shoot nothing but threes and never miss.

Through 3-29 the Zips made 33.2% of their 3 point attempts (196th in Div. 1), and 41.8% of their 2 point attempts (251st in Div. 1). In other words, they averaged just a hair under 1 point per 3 point shot, but averaged only .41 points per 2 point attempt. Sounds like they should forget going after big guys, recruit only guards, and launch nothing but 3s.OK, so you're not a math major. Actually, .418 x 2 = .836 points per 2-point shot and .332 x 3 = .996 points per 3-point shot. That's not a bad balance. If you focus on one to the exclusion of the other, defenses can set up for it. So it pays to shoot a good balance of 2s and 3s. But both percentages will need to go up if the Zips team hopes to climb to a higher level. Defense alone will not do it.My bad on the math, but even with the corrected figure you provide we are still better off shooting nothing but threes. Speaking of which, never forget, there are only three kinds of people in this world: those who can count and those who can't.

Dude, you really had me going until the end! Actually, the give away wasn't the tranfer thing, it was the "Too Much Air in the Rifle" topic. The back pressure is of little concern when you reach a choked flow situation. Also, Brian and Newt have got the filling the air tank down to a science. Additionally, Rifle shooters are maticulous about keeping things consistent. Now, if you really want to get everyones attention during an air rifle match, try shooting WITHOUT enough air. There is a distict pitch when shooting air rifle, and every once in a great while during a match, someone shoots and it's a lower pitch. This is typically followed by moan or some cursing.... Of course, when I started shooting Air Rifle, this wasn't a concern as you actually had to PUMP UP the air in your rifle before you shot. That's all I was after...just to have you going for a little while. Because my April 1 post of a few years ago had several people in tears when they finally figured out we had not moved to the Big East, I have tried to put enough goofy info in my last two April 1 posts so that even education majors would be able to figure out it was a joke by the time they finished reading them.

Ha! No, I've never been in Guzzetta Hall. But, for some reason I thought they had just renovated Guzzetta, or added onto it, or something, within the last 2 or 3 years? Obviously, I was totally mistaken! Lol. E.J. Thomas then? They built an addition for the dance studios. The music department was totally ignored when it came to necessary upgrades and it's falling apart.Well then maybe the band could run through a couple of pregame dance routines to get the crowd jacked.

AP NewswireDateline: 4-1-09, 8:00 a.m. EDTOfficials at the Regulations and Enforcement Division of the National Collegiate Athletic Association in Indianapolis announced sanctions this morning against several medal winners in the recent National Rifle Championships. Stripped of second and third place medals in the air rifle competition were Andy Wallezer and Brian Lambsen, both of the University of West Virginia. The results of drug testing on all finalists indicated that both these individuals had traces of the horse tranquilizer, Ketamine in their urine. Ketermine received some favorable publicity recently because researchers reported that the drug acts as an effective antidepressant in humans, however, it is banned in NCAA rifle competitions because it enables better muscle control. In the most shocking part of today’s announcement it was announced that Jeanna Compton, the 2009 air rifle champion from the University of Akron, is being sanctioned for using too much air pressure in her rifle. Compton was allowed to retain her championship, but will be forced to transfer to the University of West Virginia which is nationally recognized for its equestrian pharmaceutical program.

How did you come up with 45? Is that 9 weeks or 6 weeks? 45 days seems like a LOT of time to be behind schedule.Question 1: How did you come up with 45? Simple extrapolation based on how far they were behind schedule at the topping off ceremony.Question 2: Is that 9 weeks or 6 weeks?Neither, 45 days is actually 7 weeks and three days (you aren't an education major are you?).  you aren't a math major are you?7*7 = 49 plus the three days equals 52 days,45 days = 6 weeks and 3 days I'm impressed you caught that. Did you notice Rifle didn't?They say there are 3 kinds of people in this world.; those who can count and those that can't.

Don't tell that to Big Guy. He's sure the project is only 10-20 days behind schedule because somebody at the ABJ told him so.

They're projecting come August they'll only working on the field and scoreboard and just the final touching up of the stadium part.Keep in mind that's the stadium part. The lower levels of the press tower may not be ready for classroom until a bit later. This information comes directly from the ABJ beat writer for UofA.I have picture on my laptop of the Stadium on Feb 24th and comparing it today is awesome the amount of work done in the past month. You'll get to see how wrong you are in the coming weeks/months and I'll be sure to tell you I told you so. When there are no workers working on the project 45 days after the scheduled completion date you be sure and let me know.

Working before 8 am on a Saturday in March. A sure sign that my 45 days behind schedule observation is right on the money.
