My good friend Mark Carpenter, ex-girls HS BB coach here in HI was road manager for Tom Petty for many years, likely at that time.Here's a nice story for ya: And it begins with an admission -- I knew just about nothing about the Dead, when back about 1993, 94, something like that, I was leaving a movie at Kahala Mall Theaters here, couple miles baja of Waikiki. This was close to midnight and the mall was closed and almost dark. Just before geting to the mall exit there's s stairway that leads to an upper parking lot and a fancy restaurant. As I approached the stairway, these two VERY shaggy 40-something guys (50-something?), came down and stepped in front of me. I wasn't trying to listen in, but overheard the one bearded guy say to the other, "Hey man, just wait till we get back to the hotel, I got some great Kona shit I picked up yesterday." "Man -- that should be a perfect match for the 40-year old merlot I brought", was the other guy's comeback. Talk about aging hippies! Well, w00t will be glad to know that the next day's paper had a feature on the weekend's concert by the Jerry Garcia Band. Yeah -- it was the great man himself, I ran into, with the beard. Only time I happended into him, but I've bumped into many a pint of Cherry Garcia since! who the hell is Jerry Garcia?

every year I've been at the university I've walked my happy ass around for free and now that I can't do that it kinda ticks me off. oh well I guess this will only promote everyone driving and using up more parking spots and gas

I just hope they fired the ushers from last year. those people were a joke.I think they knew that they just simly could not provide enough fans for a MAC vs Acadamy game so they decided to bump it up to "come watch some MAC schools get the crap kicked out of them" I think the MAC should tell the people in charge of this thing to kiss off. besides last year was all about Army. they did everything they could to promote Army and very little for us. I'm just happy that we got to walk off with the trophy

Yuengling can not be sold in Ohio. Like anything in life, I would like to have a choice. Give me one of the (Bud, Miller, Coors) and maybe two Great Lakes. I guess you could go Coors Light and Blue Moon, since they come from the same distributor.But give me a variety.I think we all know that yuengling can not be sold in ohio wich is why it is only a wish and I only see it happening when we win a national championship a flying pig might also be in need

so this all begs the question what kind of beer do you want to see sold? I would like to see yuenglin but that will probably happen after a national championship

Just card them, if you are strict the headaches will decrease. Students will just drink at their house before they come in the problem you run into is students of age grabbing a brew for their friends that are underage and in a large event such as football games it would be hard to make sure that everyone with a beer is in fact 21.I would love to be able to drink in the common folk section of info stadium but I don't see it happening

so what do you guys think about the indians trade with C.C? I'm surprised we didn't wait for better offers (with him now playing his best ball of the season) and with us not getting a guy from their pro line up

if you notice in that article there is no quote from LBJ or any interview with him at all. it looks like he's putting his full support into Akron and letting the people at Nike take care of the people down south.

Just a quick thought: what will happen with the space that the current football practice field occupies? This will be obsolete, following the completion of the stadium. Will UA keep this around for intramurals? Would there be room here for an arena to make a full sports complex? What're everyone's thoughts?I'm sure they would keep the field. soccer and the marching band also practice on it and it makes for a great intramural place as well

glad to see Akron getting this award!! it does make me sad to see all the people who want to just sit around and cry about it

the great thing being it was more than just lebron. we had two other guys with 20 points! and when you team that up with a guy like lebron they'll be hard to beat

the color guard is there for color and flush. they add to the visual aspect of things and work hard at what they do. (of course you were probabl to busy crawling under the bleachers to notice)
