I really can't disagree at this point with the top slots. I would have thought UNC would be higher, but they lost to UNC Wilmington and have not yet hit the better opponents in their schedule. Also, I agree, that given our Zips performance Saturday, I couldn't rank them either. Hopefully, they will put it together, or this will be a long season. As has already been pointed out, winning the MAC auto bid looks to be a tough road this season.

Lucky to get out of St Louis with a draw after the red card. Don't even know where to begin with cleaning up the midfield. Also, getting tired of watching these Zips have numbers going forward only to hold up and regroup until the opposing defense moves up.

No way to sugar coat that our midfield is a mess. No connection from back to front. Sloppy and errant passes. Ill advised and slow passes backward, too. Need badly to clean this up.

My thought exactly for this season. Go Zips!

I renewed but downgraded...nothing to do with the coaching change, though. I planned to downgrade already. I don't live close enough to go to all of the games and end up sitting in the bleachers with others I know anyway. Why should I pay for "lower bowl" seat when not using it the majority of the time. It also irks me when some folks feel entitled to squeeze others they have brought into empty seats that are not theirs at my inconvenience. I don't mind them filling in the empty seats, but when they get irate that I don't want to move down a couple of seats (screwing up my view) to accommodate them, I have a problem. As far as the coaching change, how could any Zips fan hold a grudge about that. Win for KD (fat, guaranteed contract that takes him to retirement); Win for the Zips, good change to a program that had become stagnant.

The university does very little to promote Mens Soccer these days.

UCSB and others hurt us as much as Notre Dame and Mich St could help. Ugh.

I was not impressed by Denver or UVU, and we have a long way to go to prove our prowess. I should have been more clear that that poll is suspect because of the teams that are not on it as much as the seemingly strange positions of those that are.

According to this, WMU and WVU are ahead of Akron in RPI rank. BUGS is not. 41 WMU 61 WVU 98 Akron 119 BUGS

Let the matches be played. Some coaches poll certainly isn't going to decide that.

This poll is a joke at this point in the season. The Zips continue to fall because our opponents have fallen. meanwhile BUGS, WMU, and WVU get a higher ranking by defeating or tying teams who aren't even mentioned in this poll.

@MarkS ... Happy you and a few others were there to support our team. They deserve the support. This one wasn't to be for me, but I plan to be in St Louis next Saturday night. Thanks for the link to the replay. I've not been feeling well lately and could not stay up late (Eastern Time) for the match. Very happy to read recounts this morning and to watch excerpts from that link. Really happy for Marcel Zajac...that first goal was on heckuva a shot. WOW. I remember Marcel going down in the match at home vs UW, but he looked well and gave me a thumbs up that he was okay after the match. Great team effort by all of our Zips on this one, watching some of the replay. Can't wait to see them next weekend and when they get back home. GO ZIPS!!!

Thanks TennZip. Even though I was there, I keep forgetting the Zips played Denver on a Monday and that could not be factored into the first week's rankings. It's too early in the season anyway to put much stock in these polls. Lots of soccer ahead of all these teams. I will say that neither UVU nor Denver impressed me. Not surprised at their losses, and unfortunately, I don't think either will help us with RPI later.

I don't understand what this poll is vs what was the NSCAA poll. I agree that it doesn't make sense to defeat the previous week's #10 team, but fall 10 spots from 24 to 34. Is this poll credible?

Does anyone else have issues with the new GoZips.com? For me, it often takes much more time to load than I would expect. I also often get a message on my mobile, that it didn't load correctly and is reloading.

Suggestion...Could we start a thread to cover the rankings throughout the season? It would be nice (hopefully) to keep track of the changes in one place instead of a new thread for every poll, every week.

@ZipsVoice glad you made it to the Zips' match. Didn't mean to "shame" you into it, but glad I helped convince you. Glad to have had you in the crowd even though we haven't met (at least not to my knowledge) and didn't know you were there. Fun match...so much better in person.
