  1. Great to see Chris Korb back for DCU!!!
  2. Always great to see Liz Trapp (3:05) ... https://twitter.com/ColumbusCrewSC/status/863409050817622016
  3. I assume that our schedule is still being tweaked to get the best teams that we can to put ourselves in position for an NCAA Tourney bid without the MAC AQ. The other teams in our "conference" don't concern themselves with that, but Akron has to do our best to maintain our high standards. Zips Mens Soccer can't just play anyone. (reference how well that worked for at large-bids for Zips Mens Basketball)
  4. The sad thing in all of this is that there will only be 5 teams in the MAC this Fall. As expected, the MAC couldn't replace Buffalo that quickly. So, no automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament for the MAC. As such, why even bother playing a MAC Tournament... ultimate WHO CARES?!!
  5. Revolution midfielder Scott Caldwell joined GoLocalProv's Molly O'Brien for a comprehensive interview this week https://www.revolutionsoccer.net/post/2017/05/12/watch-scott-caldwell-golocalprov-live
  6. If true, I think that's a newer development than end of last season. I believe Ali was still HC when the Zips played CSU in April. Sure sounded like him barking at his players.
  7. Looks like this new verbal commit plays (or has played) for the US U17's.
  8. Vote for Victor Souto, USL Goal of the Week.... http://www.uslsoccer.com/news_article/show/790330?referrer_id=2333971#.WRDx7pZq2Jc.twitter
  9. Brad had a co-op job, too. Kudos to Engineering Consultants Group, Inc. for giving a top-notch student athlete such an opportunity with what had to be a crazy work schedule.
  10. If WVU leaves, and the MAC goes down to 4 teams, I think Akron will have sufficient leverage to also go.
  11. Why would Kentucky want to leave Conference USA in favor of the MAC for Men's Soccer? I'd prefer Akron switch.
  12. Traveling there. (Further than NIU) I thought it was stupid to "kick them out" of the MAC. Always better to have the extra team just in case of the scenario in which we now find ourselves.
  13. Hopefully, the latter. I would love to see Akron join a better conference as a Men's Soccer only member.
  14. Vote Darlington Nagbe Goal of the Week... http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2017/04/23/vote-goal-week-week-8
  15. I'm happy to read that Chad found a place to play. best wishes to him in Sweden. My favorite Zips memory of all time starts with Scotty Caldwell scoring the lone goal, moves to the kick save by David Meves, onto the shin save by Chad Barson, the clock hitting zero as the ball sailed out of bounds, hearing the "Akron Zips are National Champions" and concludes with our team triumphantly holding the trophy on the pitch. There is no one thing in that sequence that can be separated to stand alone. So glad I could be there. My best sports memory ever.
  16. Nice 3-1 exhibition win over CSU tonight at home. Fun match. Goals by Niko DeVera, Stuart Holthusen, and Sam Gainford.
  17. I'm glad to see the concern addressed openly, which is all i wanted. I don't have a problem with taking chances on guys, and I know that there are going to be some issues when they do. Best to be up front about it and how it will be handled.
