If WVU leaves, and the MAC goes down to 4 teams, I think Akron will have sufficient leverage to also go.

Why would Kentucky want to leave Conference USA in favor of the MAC for Men's Soccer? I'd prefer Akron switch.

Traveling there. (Further than NIU) I thought it was stupid to "kick them out" of the MAC. Always better to have the extra team just in case of the scenario in which we now find ourselves.

Hopefully, the latter. I would love to see Akron join a better conference as a Men's Soccer only member.

I'm happy to read that Chad found a place to play. best wishes to him in Sweden. My favorite Zips memory of all time starts with Scotty Caldwell scoring the lone goal, moves to the kick save by David Meves, onto the shin save by Chad Barson, the clock hitting zero as the ball sailed out of bounds, hearing the "Akron Zips are National Champions" and concludes with our team triumphantly holding the trophy on the pitch. There is no one thing in that sequence that can be separated to stand alone. So glad I could be there. My best sports memory ever.

I'm glad to see the concern addressed openly, which is all i wanted. I don't have a problem with taking chances on guys, and I know that there are going to be some issues when they do. Best to be up front about it and how it will be handled.

Keith Dambrot took Akron to our first D1 NCAA Tournament appearance in 23 years (back in 2009). He took us there 2 more times. He brought LeBron to support our team and university....and did many other good things for UA some of which we may not all be aware. He is a fellow alumnus and Akron native. He is a good man and a good coach. Why can't all of us just thank him and his family and leave it at that.

I agree that I'm not so concerned now because it hasn't happened. However, it is beyond disgusting to read the cavalier attitude some of you seem to have about assault and domestic battery.

How many? What were their crimes? Sometimes you take a chance on a guy and it works out; other times it doesn't. The ones that don't work out should not discourage taking chances. You need to be smart about it, but you're going to get burned from time to time. Huggins had his problem children along the way, but he did quite well at Cincy, K State, and WVU. I'm happy to say he did so at Akron, too.

Let the self-righteous, pat-each-other-on-the-buttocks love fest continue.... Never said I didn't like the hire. Although I'm not from Missouri, I need any coach to show me that he can do it at Akron before I claim that he is JC of Akron MBB.

Independent is no different than staying in a 4 or 5 member MAC. No auto berth in NCAA Tourney.

Something that many who follow collegiate sports seem to forget...the players are student athletes. The actually have to attend classes. If Zips Mens Soccer were to go to Conference USA, then I think that it is time to start scheduling more out of conference games in the east. Why do we schedule UCSB and make that long trip when we could get an east coast opponent 1/3 the distance away.
