  1. Match is at Highmark Stadium in Pittsburgh (Riverhounds' home). Unfortunately, I don't think Brad is there any longer. It will be strange to go up against Victor. I'll be cheering for the Zips but want to see Victor do well.
  2. Looking forward to seeing some Zips Mens Soccer tomorrow Some Zips 's and some great by Ben Lundt, Nick Costa, and/or Tor Saunders. Go Zips! emoticons courtesy of http://www.sherv.net/football-emoticons.html
  3. My comment was meant along the lines that it seemed bizarre to me that men's soccer was not mentioned by Larry Williams. I would hope that our AD mentioned and is planning to broadcast men's soccer matches. My biggest problem is that our Ath Dept seems to take men's soccer for granted for some reason...don't want to appear they are favoring it? Think that it sells itself? I can say firsthand that Caleb Porter was frustrated when he left with the lack of marketing, and I have seen no sign of improvement with the new administrators.
  4. This spring, the Zips will broadcast some of their softball games, and Williams said they've tried to come up with a way to showcase their successful women's swimming program, but the length of the meets complicates live-streaming efforts. Men's and women's basketball are ESPN3 staples for the MAC. After that, each school can configure its broadcast schedule however it wants, as long as it reaches the 35-event minimum. This year, Bowling Green showed two men's and two women's soccer matches, and it produced volleyball broadcasts in each of the last two seasons. Incredible that we have the most successful Mens soccer team in the MAC, and BUGS is the school broadcasting soccer.
  5. Around the 01:00:28 mark..."I always had the best players in college. I worked my ass off ..." Great reminiscing of approach at Akron.

  7. Very nice..Player of the Month. I recognize Ampai's 2010 Senior Class Award and the Zips' 2010 NCAA D1 Men's Soccer National Champions Trophy pictured at the bottom of the inset on the right.
  8. Nice find @TennZip ...The actual transaction for Najem looks like this: New York Red Bulls trade the Right of First Refusal to Adam Najem to Philadelphia. The Union traded their 2018 Natural 2nd Round SuperDraft pick to New York Red Bulls. The Union traded away their second round pick of next years draft, for a potential top ten pick from this past draft had Najem entered. This is incredibly smart on the parts of Earnie Stewart and Chris Albright. These two have totally revamped this team. This signing is essentially the Union getting a top ten first round draft pick. Which is monumental, especially since Philly didn’t have a first round pick this past draft. The Najem deal is the icing on the cake for an offseason full of smart moves. let’s look at some of the newest signings accolades. ...
  9. In addition to our returning players, I'm looking forward to meeting and seeing Morgan Hackworth in action with the Zips.
  10. ...You don’t have to follow college soccer at all to know the impact the University of Akron has had in Major League Soccer in recent years. Just rattling off a short list of names you’d recognize will tell you everything you need to know. Names like DeAndre Yedlin, Darlington Nagbe, Wil Trapp, Scott Caldwell, Darren Mattocks, Zarek Valentin and Kofi Sarkodie, who have all found success since entering the league dating back to 2010....

  12. Did you catch the link at the end of the article? The first such deal was done in 2011...referring to Caleb Porter trading fro Bryan Gallego's HG rights, also from NYRB.
  13. http://www.philadelphiaunion.com/post/2017/02/08/get-know-adam-najem Najem played all four seasons at Akron, competing in 89 games for the Zips and accumulating 95 points during his career. In every season, the Zips made the NCAA tournament; its best run being the team’s College Cup semifinal appearance in 2015. Najem was named to the All-MAC First Team every season at Akron, and also received First-Team NSCAA Academic All-American honors in 2015 and 2016.
