  1. When I read that article, it reaffirmed my amazement at how some could be so concerned about Jared taking over Zips Men's Soccer from Caleb. My concern is, if/when Jared moves up, who will replace him. I was not a fan of Tom Wistrcill, but I have to give him credit for listening to Caleb, players and others close to the program when he made the decision.

  3. Stuart is still out, but I don't know details of his injury. Niko DeVera was out Robby Dambrot out Adi Dakwar out Adam Najem is still visiting On a side note, I heard that Ohio State was beaten by the Crew Reserves 6-1, or some such score. I couldn't confirm, though, since I couldn't find results on their website. After looking further, I found that Notre Dame tied the Crew, 1-1. http://www.und.com/sports/m-soccer/spec-rel/040116aaa.html
  4. That's exactly why I went looking. The 5 hours didn't make sense to me if the games were at the same location. Why is it so difficult for Sean Palchick (Assoc Director for Communications for Zips Mens Soccer) to provide this information? Why did I have to go looking for it?
  5. Looks like the Spring matches on May 1st are not both in Cincinnati. The match vs the Dayton Dynamo is at Wright State University according to the Dayton Dynamo website.
  6. That would be returning for 2016 season (not 2017).
  7. Saad Abdul-Salam started for Sporting KC. They are currently in the 2nd half on FS1. 1-1 with FC Dallas in the 64th.
  8. My understanding s that Andrew will go to grad school at Ohio State.
  9. Thanks for the heads up, but let's not forget Teal Bunbury for the NE Revs as well.
  10. Video link appears to be broken http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/club-soccer-articles/zips-impress-in-7-1-win-over-michigan_aid17694 As statements go, Akron made a loud one Tuesday night. A 7-1 win over Big 10 opponent Michigan just happened to on a day when the Zips’ program was hosting Rob on the Road, as head coach Caleb Porter showed me all around the school, soccer facilities and gave us unprecedented access to the team’s activities before, during and after the match. We’ve got tons of video to show for it, but you just have to take your hat off to Porter for his work in building such a top-rate program and for selling it so well. He has recruited very well over the past few years and this is why the Zips are once again doing so well – their players are that good. {mosvideo:300}Tuesday they were in rare form, holding the ball for long stretches and attacking in numbers early and often. Right back Kofi Sarkodie had a monster game, scoring a hat trick that began with a 10th minute strike. Darren Mattocks, Anthony Ampaipitakwong, Darlington Nagbe and Thomas Schmitt added a single tally each. Michigan had two players sent off in the final 20 minutes, after the score was already 4-1. Akron improves to 12-0-1 while Michigan, which got a goal from Soony Saad on a 1st half free kick, falls to 8-4-3. So check out the video taken today. We’ve got a look at the Akron facilities, some insight from the crazies known as AK Rowdies, a little flavor from the match including a vicious red card, and some post-match comments. Tomorrow I’ll be heading east. Check the web site again to find out how far. Here's a video from that match:
  11. I hear you. I don't understand why the Z is cool and slick to them either, but okay, it is and that's life. For me, the Z is overused on scarf designs #1 and #3. I would like scarf #1 better had they incorporated the ARoo where the large Z is on the side with the Adidas markings. The ARoo was the preferred logo the year we won the Title. I would like #3 better had they used the ARoo in place of one of the Z's. My understanding is that the ARoo hasn't gone away. So, why not use it along with the Z. Edit: Now that I think about it more, why not put AKRON on one side and Zips Soccer on the other with the Z in Zips being the slick Z (like at the top of the graphic)?
  12. DeAndre Yedlin Embraces the Grind: How the defender is overcoming his own hype Very good article and analysis. Edit: "Own hype" is a Bullsh!t term. Hype was media-generated as it usually is. DeAndre has always been "grounded". I would not call his quick rise from HG signing to Sounders starter to EPL hype. "Raw" standout performance was responsible for that. Now experience/maturation is improving that. The hair has always been style, never flash. Those who see it otherwise don't know him. I remember when we first saw it at Akron and Bisbee asked us on this forum what he had done because he hadn't seen it. ... fun
  13. Put in my retweet for #2. Agree that 1 and 4 are too similar to previous designs. However, I'm not a big fan of the Z which is too prevalent on #3 (and 1). I'll be happy with any of them, though.
  14. I don't know why it wasn't mentioned in the GoZips.com article, but every bit as important as the scoring was GK Nick Costa's save of a Slippery Rock PK attempt in the second half which contributed to 2 clean sheets on the day. Great job Zips!
  15. Chance to see Michael Nanchoff and Zac Portillos
  16. "That's something I aspire to do." While he hopes for more national team looks now that his time as a youth international is over, Trapp acknowledged he had not given a whole lot of thought toward this summer’s Copa America Centenario, as he expected to be in Brazil instead. Trapp, however, believes it's on him to show he deserves that spot. "Most of the mental exasperation has been with the Under-23s, focusing on that campaign," he said. "Now that it's over, it would be wonderful for Jurgen to call me in, but you don't get that opportunity unless you're performing well with your club. So the biggest focus for me right now is in Columbus — to get started in a smart, right way to get extra points on the board."
