  1. U.S. Debate: The DeAndre Yedlin dilemma After Friday's game in Guatemala City, Klinsmann will have to decide whether to keep Yedlin and John Brooks with the senior team or have them join the U-23s, who will face Colombia on their second game the same day as the national team hosts Guatemala in Columbus. That decision, Klinsmann said, will come after the results of the first legs are known and he consults with his coaching staff. "Anything is possible," he said, "to be honest."
  2. Great selfie... (I put this is the wrong thread originally and can't delete there. Better twice than not at all.)

  5. Posting from USSoccer... http://www.ussoccer.com/stories/2016/03/19/13/58/160319-u23mnt-herzog-names-22-man-roster-for-2016-olympic-qualifying-playoff-against-colombia U.S. Roster by Position: GOALKEEPERS (3): Cody Cropper (Milton Keynes Dons), Ethan Horvath (Molde KJ), Zach Steffen (SC Freiburg) DEFENDERS (8): Kellyn Acosta (FC Dallas), Matt Miazga (Chelsea FC), Eric Miller (Colorado Rapids), Tim Parker (Vancouver Whitecaps FC), Desevio Payne (FC Groningen), Shane O’Neill (Cambridge United), Brandon Vincent (Chicago Fire), Walker Zimmerman (FC Dallas) MIDFIELDERS (9): Fatai Alashe (San Jose Earthquakes), Paul Arriola (Club Tijuana), Luis Gil (Queretaro), Julian Green (Bayern Munich), Emerson Hyndman (Fulham FC), Jerome Kiesewetter (VfB Stuttgart), Matt Polster (Chicago Fire), Dillon Serna (Colorado Rapids), Wil Trapp (Columbus Crew SC) FORWARDS (3): Jordan Morris (Seattle Sounders FC), Mario Rodriguez (Borussia Monchengladbach), Khiry Shelton (New York City FC) Reminder - Under FIFA and Olympic regulations, all players participating in the preliminary and final competition must have been born on or after January 1, 1993. Teams that qualify for the Olympics will be permitted a maximum of three over-age players. Also, I would expect to see Jurgen Klinsmann's call ups to USMNT announced later today.
  6. Disappointing that the Zips couldn't find the net themselves in the first match. I thought they had a couple of good chances, but didn't capitalize. The own goal was a long fluke. I thought Elliott Rubio played well in goal (all 90 minutes in goal) but don't recall his really being tested. Notre Dame College has a top tier lower division men's soccer team. They scored early, and I thought the rout might be on like last Spring. Our second team rose to the challenge and kept it close. I was especially interested to see our new GK Jeremy Pollard who was in goal for the 2nd half of the match. Jeremy had a couple of outstanding saves that I recall. I liked what I saw. We'll see how he pans out throughout Spring. I think Fall will have an interesting 3-way competition between Elliott, Jeremy, and Tor Saunders. I should also say that Jackson Crawford looked impressive in mid field. He knew where to be, where to go, made good passes, made good decisions.
  7. Really? Is that another of Scarborough's cuts?
  8. Would love to see Caleb Porter, Michael Nanchoff and Darlington Nagbe wearing this TimbersFC MLS Cup Champions Ring alongside their Zips 2010 National Champions Rings.
  9. TennZip posted this in another thread, but with the upcoming U20, U23, and USMNT matches, I thought this topic deserved its own thread. Congrats to Emmanuel Sabbi who was recently called up to U20 MNT. http://www.ussoccer.com/stories/2016/03/14/18/57/160314-u20mnt-head-coach-tab-ramos-names-22-player-roster-for-2016-dallas-cup http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soccer-articles/us-u20-mnt-roster-for-dallas-cup_aid38976 U.S. U-20 MNT Gordon Jago Super Group A Schedule: March 20: U-20 MNT vs. CF Monterrey Rayados , Cotton Bowl at 6:30 p.m. CT March 21: U-20 MNT vs. Fulham FC, Richland College at 4 p.m. CT March 23: U-20 MNT vs. TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, TBD ROSTER BY POSITION: GOALKEEPERS (2): Jonathan Klinsmann (University of California; Newport Beach, Calif.), James Marcinkowski (Georgetown; Alamo, Calif.) 10. My guess would be that someone in the Men's Soccer Office posted the twitter message, and that our significantly less than lame SID hasn't found time to post something to GoZips.com.
  11. Texted our Crew SC Zips Mens Soccer alumni, Chad Barson & Wil Trapp, and both responded that they plan to be there supporting the Zips.
  12. I'll help with the "Z-I...". I'm in 121.
  13. I cannot find an NCAA limit. I suspect it is self-limiting by the University/team and the players' desire to play. You also need to account for some of the new recruits redshirting. However, I agree that it is probable that not all of the players currently with the Zips will be there in the Fall.
  14. It's official http://www.timbers.com/post/2016/03/14/portland-timbers-acquire-attacker-darren-mattocks-vancouver-whitecaps-fc
  15. I agree we should be hosting and that the system is rigged. The selection criteria changes every year, but the makeup of the committee is always skewed to the power conferences. NCAA in some ways is worse than FIFA. I don't recall if it was stated on this board or elsewhere, but the NCAA is supposed to look out for the student athletes. March Madness is all about money. I understand that the Zips resume lacks because we've never done anything in the NCAA Tourney, and we got crushed the last time we were there. That game was over 10 minutes in and wasn't interesting. But, that does not excuse the improper seeding in the NIT. Also, I feel for you. It's bad enough being anywhere in Ohio with all the blOSU honks, but I'm sure it's magnified in the heart of Suckeye land. Of course, the local news here jumps right on the Suckeye bandwagon with 'well this game does nothing for Ohio State yada yada yada..." Why the H*ll don't they all move to Columbus? How many of them actually attended blOSU?
  16. Perhaps he has decided to change professions. If I remember correctly, Kofi majored in biology and had aspirations to go into the medical profession. Edit: I should add that I don't know. This is total supposition on my part.
  17. @SpinThanks for starting this list and @chris for adding to it. 19. It's fun to go down there for a soccer game (except when we should be hosting). They know we're the better team, and they hate it.
  20. Probably the top reason I hate the Buckeyes so much. I've watched how totally classless so many of them are to any other team's fans. It's sickening. I'm so glad that Thad hasn't worked out for them.
