  2. Speaking of Ezana Kahsay... From Africa to Akron: Ezana Kahsay's Soccer Story http://buffalo.twcnews.com/content/sports/715923/from-africa-to-akron--ezana-kahsay-s-soccer-story/?ap=1&MP4
  3. Interesting. I agree with MES102 that the AD needs to be taking better care of Jodi. IMHO it took way too long for her contract to be extended as I think it was recently. They should be reworking that again after winning the MAC Tourney.
  4. I noticed Najem wearing the armband as you said. He didn't seem too vocal for being a captain. I didn't realize Souders was wearing an armband as well.
  5. Aero design team breaks record, finishes 1st in international competition http://www.uakron.edu/im/online-newsroom/news_details.dot?newsId=ec16fc25-a28e-436f-87be-2c38b1f88a9f#.U1Z1xiS3KIA GO Zips!
  6. I agree TennZip. I'm also hoping Seremba will be fully healed and match fit in the Fall.
  7. I'll be disappointed but not surprised if Mac Rhoades steals another of our coaches.
  8. All good points, and you and others are welcome to your opinion. However, your use of "heart-warming" made my stomach turn enough that I had to share the other opinion which I know I don't hold alone. As I said, Ken Lolla did good things at Akron, but how he left was not good. Albeit, in the end his departure was very much our gain. Perhaps I should have shaken his hand Saturday and thanked him for that. My best memory of Ken Lolla is witnessing my Akron Zips, led by Caleb Porter, holding the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer National Championship trophy and celebrating on the pitch at Harder Stadium with him and his preferred program watching from the sideline. It could be done at Akron. Ken Lolla just couldn't do it. Edit: By the way, it's not an irrational grudge. I'd consider it a grudge if I went out of my way to say something disrepectful to Ken. Until reading your post, I never gave him a thought. I really didn't intend to argue with you either. I just got ill when I read "heart-warming" and had to respond. Peace.
  9. @fknbuflobo Good summary. However, I personally take exception with the "admiration" for Ken Lolla. I didn't even consider acknowledging him. Albeit he did a great job at Akron, I'll never forget that he left for another NCAA Divison I program stating it couldn't be done at Akron. In actuality, thanks to his leaving, it (a National Championship) has been done at Akron. THANKS Caleb Porter who left for the professional ranks not another NCAA program.
  10. Dillon Serna and Wil Trapp invited to first ever US men's U-21 camp which begins preparations for build up to 2016 Olympics. http://soccer.si.com/2014/04/18/us-under-21-national-team-camp-ramos-klinsmann-gil-trapp-oneill/?sct=obinsite EDIT (4/21/14): Trapp unable to attend this week’s U.S. Under-21 camp; Crew Vice Captain sustains minor knock against United http://www.thecrew.com/news/2014/04/trapp-unable-attend-week%E2%80%99s-us-under-21-camp
  11. Wil Trapp steals the ball at the 18, takes it to mid field and sends a perfect pass to Hector Jimenez leading to the game tying goal vs DCU in the 90th minute. Columbus was down to 10 men and this video doesn't even show how Trapp had to run down the DC player from about midfield. Spectacular play that I was very happy to see in person. Sequence starts at about 5:28 in the video. http://www.thecrew.com/news/2014/04/highlights-crew-1-dc-united-1 EDIT: "That was a real play," Sporting Director and Head Coach Gregg Berhalter said of Trapp's effort. "That’s why [Trapp] is who he is. That’s amazing. First, he recovers off of [Fabian] Espíndola, then he takes the ball from him, then he drives I don’t know how long, then he makes a pass. That’s a real play by a real player." http://www.thecrew.com/news/2014/04/black-golds-character-tested-draw-united Edit2: Columbus Crew hail Wil Trapp's game-changing play vs DC United: "That's why he is who he is" http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2014/04/19/columbus-crew-wowed-wil-trapps-game-changing-play-vs-dc-united-thats-why-he-?utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=News&utm_campaign=Unpaid Trapp said the Crew Stadium crowd powered him through at a time when he might otherwise have been too tired to make the play. "Honestly, the fans, I heard them start to roar a little bit after the tackle, and that got me excited," he said. "You get a little adrenaline rush when stuff like that happens, and you don't really notice the tiredness in your legs when something like that occurs."

  13. Serna sets sights on long-awaited home debut For the Brighton local, from Colorado Rapids fan to the starting XI http://www.coloradorapids.com/news/2014/04/serna-sets-sights-long-awaited-home-debut
  14. Good summary. This team doesn't seem to have the "edge" of recent past teams. I also don't recall who was wearing the captain's armband if anyone. Someone needs to step up as leader.
  15. I would love to go to Albuquerque, but I'm already going to Portland and Seattle for August 9th and 10th matches (yay, they play Saturday & Sunday so I can get 2 in 1 trip) and going to USF and FGCU on September 4th and 6th.

  18. Tempo Free Soccer, Let's Talk about Wil Trapp ... http://tempofreesoccer.blogspot.com/2014/04/lets-talk-about-wil-trapp.html?spref=tw "...All players reach the point where vague assertions like the one I made above ("possesses a level of maturity and technical skill not often seen...") must be confirmed with output. In the first weeks of the MLS season Wil Trapp is blowing right through that barrier with such a force that we just cannot ignore him anymore."
  19. @ZIP ... There is no Title IX issue with Womens Soccer Spring matches. 20. Under Gregg Berhalter, Columbus Crew youngster Wil Trapp is beginning to show his potential ... http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2014/04/01/under-gregg-berhalter-columbus-crew-youngster-wil-trapp-beginning-show-his-p?utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=News&utm_campaign=Unpaid I especilly like the last paragraph ... "And expect him to join fellow US U-20 veterans Luis Gil and DeAndre Yedlin in Jurgen Klinsmann's plans sooner rather than later. A trip to Brazil is probably out of the question, but feel free to be shocked if Trapp isn't in the first post-World Cup camp." Yedlin, Trapp, and Nagbe for World Cup 2018 would be most awesome.
