  1. Agreed. I'd like a number of these type of teams mixed with a few P5 teams and then a couple of lower-tier teams.
  2. Even though last night's game had a rough ending, I really enjoyed the ride over the last week or so. Maybe it's because my expectations were a little lower than in other years. Maybe it's the fact the Akron was playing their best basketball at the right time. Last night's game showed us something we were all concerned about - depth. To be able to complete at this level, we need another F that can rebound and score. Another G or wing wouldn't hurt either. Hopefully, we have that with next year's incoming class. If so, this team could be really special.
  3. What a great season.
  4. Announcers keep talking about UCLA as a final four team. That is not a final four team.
  5. We need a four point play.
  6. Regroup. Go score a bucket.
  7. The players believe they can win.
  8. Up by one at the half. Now go win the second half
  9. Zippy getting some air time!
  10. This UCLA team is beatable!
  11. And the Zips force a timeout!
  12. To do that, they need to make sure they get good looks. Move the ball around and don't force shots.
  13. It's easy to want more when you lose in the first round, but for a team that was picked to finish last in the MAC - quite the season!
  14. With the current team plus next year's incoming class, I'm hoping Groce would be here at least a few more years.
  15. I'm see the same thing on gozips.com. I'm running Safari on a mac.
  16. The bar is set so low right now, it wouldn't take that big of an effort on the ABJ's part to get the coverage improved.
  17. Completely agree. While it makes a nice run if you win, it's not a path you want every year.
  18. Are you sorry? Yes... sorry we got caught
  19. In 2009, we were the 5 seed. We beat #4 Miami, #1 BG, and #3 Buffalo.
  20. In 2011, we were the 6 seed. We beat #3 Miami, #2 Western Michigan, and #1 Kent.
  21. Not getting a lot of love from Jay Bilas. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/insider/story/_/id/33497726/jay-bilas-picks-every-single-game-2022-ncaa-men-basketball-tournament Akron played Ohio State to a one-point game early this season and should have won. But the Zips are ranked outside of the top 100 in offensive and defensive efficiency, and that will not beat UCLA. Akron is ranked 321st in experience (1.2 years) in Division I. Ali Ali is the top scorer at 14.2 points per game, and Xavier Castaneda has hit 73 3s on 37.6% shooting. But John Groce's team is not quite ready to take down the Bruins.
  22. Ali's got the tools, but he would need to make some strides over the next year or two. Whether he makes it or not, it's nice to be able to have the discussion.
