  1. Yeah, just fyi so it's here https://gozips.com/news/2020/5/14/general-campus-message-from-ad-larry-williams.aspx
  2. I don't think anyone ever claimed those three added up to all of the 4.4 mil. The release also said there were coaching pay cuts as well as scholarship reductions and other expense reductions
  3. They were trending towards being a decent MAC team at that point. Rembielak was finally getting some traction with decent recruits in the area. I didn't say they were historically good, but competitive in the conference at 13-15
  4. The moment we voluntarily put ourselves at even more of a disadvantage by cutting scholarships is the moment we should just drop football. If we're gonna do it, do it as well and as competitive as we can. The debate over why we should have a sport is interesting. Is the reason to have a sport so we can make a profit? I don't think. But we should also be responsible. Baseball may not be growing but it's a popular sport in our area and before we cut it we proved that we could be competitive within our conference.
  5. On behalf of the posters here, thank you
  6. Don't your insider friends share that with you?
  7. I like the idea competitively, regardless of the economics. Some interest at the end of the season for schools on the #8 bubble spot. I don't like it from an Akron standpoint of usually being a top 4 seed and now I don't see any plausible scenario for byes with 8 teams.
  8. Let's talk dollars. How much money do we save in chopping 22 scholarships? And how much do we lose without buy games and MAC TV money?
  9. I don't think this was the "I told you so" post you were hoping to write today, eh?
  10. I feel like 4.4 mil should be attainable without any groundbreaking cuts
  11. Not that we offered him but I don't know where else to put this. Jimonds little bro?
  12. They definitely have more than 3. You're allowed 11.7 so I went with 8 as a plausible halfway point. Not to say the university lied but I think maybe it was more of a PR move to put the self funded title out right away to avoid the blowback then ease into it being like the other sports.
  13. I'm curious if baseball is as self funded as some claim. If we're even offering 8 scholarships that's a couple hundred grand needed each year just to front scholarship money.
  14. Well as of now we need 16 to remain in the MAC right?
  15. those add up to 18, what am I missing?
  16. So it's getting counted twice to make the graph look more to their liking?
  17. Am I understanding correctly that the fees would be in the direct institutional support piece of the graph? Or are they in the 9.4%?
  18. Well academic spending should most likely mirror enrollment. Athletic spending doesn't have anything to do with enrollment. I can see dropping to the minimum of 16 sports, but otherwise the two aren't really related.
  19. Well you'd play nine teams twice and two once. Would be easier to just play 22 and get everyone twice. I'm hopeful they'd lock in any rivalries twice a year and just rotate the others. Some outside the box thinking would be nice but I don't see a whole lot of flexibility there
  20. Multiple MAC postseason tournaments eliminated, basketball divisions scrapped, 20 game hoops conference schedule https://www.wtol.com/amp/article/sports/major-changes-coming-to-mid-american-conference/512-0e4f0d45-546b-432f-89a1-67a5a6d8fe3c?__twitter_impression=true
  21. In any case I don't think that would be the first place anyone would be seeing the news.
  22. Canceled is the correct version in the US of A if that's what you're getting at
  23. Nope we were on the visitors side but the sun felt good for mid November. We had a great time. Stadium is beautiful and proves you don't need a 100k seat stadium for a good time in CFB. It's a different animal when the draw is Clemson, NC State, Louisville, FSU each year.. Nothing special though that we couldn't do. Need an AD with a vision to make it a fun experience, but the weekday games have to go for that. I surely don't have the answers but I'm also sure that our product and attendance for our market is not nearly as good as it can be.
  24. I went to the Pitt game at Wake in 2018 and there were as many Pitt fans as Wake. Was just like being at a Zips game ?
  25. Also from Spins article Rather, most conferences have draft orders. So where you see "Big 12 2 vs. Pac-12 2" in the Alamo Bowl, that doesn't mean that the second-place teams in those leagues play each other. It means the Alamo gets the second pick of the non-Playoff teams in both leagues. Whether it actually picks the second place team is a different matter
