  1. My only question about Dalton is why he never transferred to pursue a starting opportunity somewhere. Why was he content to sit on the bench for four years? In the FCS, players don't need to sit out a year to transfer, so that's not it.
  2. I think what's happening is that we are treating Twitter like another version of Facebook, when it's really two different cultures with different expectations for the level of communication. A Facebook fan page is perfect for linking to articles and then letting fans discuss them in the comments and share things with their friends. Twitter, on the other hand allows for a more personal kind interaction and requires whoever is running it to be more hands-on. If they're both only linking to articles and posting announcements/promotions, then people will only follow the Facebook page because it gives more options to the fans. But if Twitter offers something unique, like the possibility to have a short conversation with the SID (or whoever is in charge of this). Simply answering some questions that get tweeted at them would go a long way, because it shows that there is something there, a person and it's not just an automatic script that puts up a link whenever an article on GoZips.com is posted or something goes up on Facebook.
  3. We absolutely dominate Facebook, but Twitter is weak. 4. $1 million gift from J.M. Smucker Company
  5. The problem with counting sacks in the spring game is that the QBs were considered "sacked" the moment they were touched by a defender. I am certain that they would have escaped a few of them had it been a real game, and Moore would have ran for a TD.
  6. Considering that he has the best academics on the team, I think he'll earn it.
  7. I saw Rossi playing at both LB and FB yesterday.
  8. Rasor's running account of the Spring Game. George Thomas' notes Main recap from the ABJ Cleveland PD coverage
  9. Party at Justin Greene's house!
  10. I would put it at 2000 under the stands, and another 1000 in the club seats. Some encouraging news I heard at the Spring Game is that the sale of alcohol throughout the stadium should soon be approved.
  11. Rasor might not have been able to see the majority of the crowd from the press box. Most were under the overhang or in the club level, which was opened up to the public to keep everyone warm and dry in what was a very nice gesture by the university. It would have been completely packed in the field house. If you're fretting, you should know that season tickets are up quite a bit over where they were this time last year.
  12. That was the 2nd team defense giving up the big numbers. The 1st team D was the best unit on the field all day. That just tells me that depth on the D-line and secondary are an issue, and that the 1st and 2nd team WRs are close in talent level.
  13. He played as a receiver.
  14. 1. The talent level is severely lacking, but none of Bowden's recruits have shown up yet so it might be a little better in the fall. This game was played almost exclusively with Ianello's players. 2. The team will be fun to watch, if nothing else. The offensive pace and focus on big plays will be entertaining, and the defense looked aggressive. 3. The QB race is still muddled. I felt like Moore might have separated himself a little bit. Dalton looked the most comfortable, but didn't show that he could make things happen like Moore can. Pohl has the highest ceiling but makes the most mistakes, owing to his lack of experience and football maturity. 4. Broderick Alexander is probably a better receiver than running back. Chisholm didn't get a chance to show what he has, but that's probably because we were trying to evaluate the passing game and pass defense more, where there are more unknowns. Expect more run plays called in an actual game. Quentin Hines looks like a viable option at RB. 5. The O-Line is incredibly thin, but they are well conditioned. 6. Tyler Williams had a good day. He will be exciting to watch. 7. They must have given AJ Fox a deflated ball on a few of his kicking attempts.
  15. If you want to know how seriously we are not taken by C-USA fans, just read the following links. Imagine a conference where everyone thinks like Marshall fans. Why not Akron? Speaking of Akron... Let's talk Akron Anyone know anything good about Akron? http://csnbbs.com/showthread.php?tid=566508 http://csnbbs.com/showthread.php?tid=565959
  16. The rain is supposed to clear out in time for the game. Besides, if the team and coaches can't handle a little rain shower temps in the 40s, how are they supposed to be able to handle games in November?
  17. And now it's back. What is going on? Honestly, I would rather have it deleted. A lot of people out there assume that that is the main Akron message board (because they assume that everyone is on either Rivals or Scout and that independent websites can't exist), and they see that its empty except for some idiots posing as Zips fans to mess with people.
  18. If you try to access akron.scout.com it redirects you to their main site. It was only a matter of time, with no new content being written and the message board occupied by random trolls from other schools. Still, it hurts to see, because having a Scout site is an indicator that a university has a strong athletics program.
  19. Coach did four inteviews on four radio stations this morning. WKDD, WKNR2, WAKR, and 92.3 The Fan. Did anybody catch one or more?
  20. The MAC is a passing league above all else. Pass rush is a concern, but a good secondary can make a huge difference. Run defense is really an afterthought.
  21. Did anybody listen to the interviews with WKDD or Munch?
  22. http://gozips.com/sports/fball/2012-13/rel.../201204197wh902 Coach Bowden will be very busy tomorrow with a bunch of radio interviews. Is there anybody out there who can get a recording of each of these? I honestly don't understand why all talk radio shows don't put up podcasts. Or if nobody can't record, at least post a rundown here. I'm interested not only in what coach says, but also how the various media people behave.
  23. Somehow, he managed to transfer to Xavier.
