  1. JUCO TE Jesse Milleson commits to Memphis ATH Khalif Herbin commits to Temple
  2. It's an indictment on his failure to look for someone other than Winters.
  3. Pre-Snap Read suggests Indiana State's Trent Miles.
  4. The length of the show cause doesn't mean as much as the terms of the penalty. What penalties does it come with should a team try to hire him? So long as it's not a post-season ban, there's not much the NCAA could do that would negatively affect the Zips situation. Loss of scholarships? We're already under the imit more than the sanctions would be. Loss of recruiting contact? His name does the recruiting for him.
  5. The announcement won't be made today. On whichever day the announcement will be made, @GoZipsUpdates will post a teaser. Something along the lines of "Stay tuned for the big announcement later today!" to get people hyped up. That didn't happen today, so I doubt anything will be announced.
  6. "Based on precedent, Tressel will likely receive a “show-cause” charge, meaning any university wishing to hire him will need to make a strong case to the NCAA." How's this for a "strong case to the NCAA": Literally nobody else is willing to coach for us. Think it would fly?
  7. Don't forget to take into account the number of opportunities to actually attend each sport. Football only gets six games, while soccer had twelve and basketball has only had five so far.
  8. Then the new coach wouldn't have to worry about Wistrcill's replacement wanting to bring in his own guy.
  9. He's a great basketball coach, don't get me wrong, but I don't think he would do very well as a football coach. me neither. Why would he coach the football team as an Athletic Director? I thought you were responding to mes102's post.
  10. I'm guessing this is supposed to imply that they would be seeking revenge from last year? dang good fight! losing by almost 30 points will sure teach us a lesson! we probably won't be seeing much from this guy in a while...either that or he will show up flinging excuses but quite frankly a blowout shows that we are on a completely different level than YSU Horrible, despicable, and inept are three words to describe YSU's effort. Akron is clearly the better team, but that is without a doubt the worst performance I've seen YSU have since the 30pt loss at Robert Morris last year. Best of luck this year. You guys are going to cause people havoc with the height down low. Akron's length and athleticism will cause problems for a lot of teams. YSU got unlucky because they caught the Zips at a time when they were really gelling. YSU looked like a decently talented mid-major with some depth issues.
  11. He's a great basketball coach, don't get me wrong, but I don't think he would do very well as a football coach.
  12. Knock off the melodramatics. Notice that the only people who are panicking are the ones who went all in on Winters and dismissed any attempt at looking at better candidates.
  13. I just heard whispers of Tom Bradley's name.
  14. Here's the problem. Nobody wants to be brought in when a new AD is coming in next season who very likely will want his own guy as the football coach.
  15. We need to give Trent Miles another look. In four years he took Indiana State from being winless to receiving top 25 votes in the FCS. Looking only at people who went to Akron or grew up in the area is severely limiting our pool of candidates.
  16. If its the worst job in the country why would he want it? Well, why would he have wanted to coach at Wayne State?
  17. The amount of arrogance displayed by Wistrcill is astounding. They freaking drove to Detroit for this. That tells me that they thought it was in the bag. Wistrcill once again had the attitude of "I have this one guy who I want to hire and we don't need to even look at anybody else". Last time that got us Ianello, and this time it backfired on him thanks in part to last time. We could have had a complete staff assembled by now if we were actually looking for other candidates because we could have hired someone weeks ago. Narduzzi backed out because he was told that the AD had his guy. Well guess what, "his guy" hates his guts.
  18. Well, it's a good thing we waited two extra weeks without really looking for anybody else, then. Way to go, Wistrcill. You got caught up in the PW crap that's been spewed all over recently and it cost you big time. We should have had a coach long before the D-II playoffs were over.
  19. Yeah? You feel Johnson is the best, a guy that couldn't get it done in LA with all those resources? That Jim Mora Jr. doesn't want and didn't want, that bounced around the NFL for a long time, that hasn't been on this side of the country for a long time. Just curious how a coordinator from a bad program is tops on your list. Nothing against him, I think he may be someone worth looking at, he wouldn't be tops on my list, and the way at which you disqualify other guys not sure why he would be tops on yours. Call it a gut feeling. There's just something that feels right about hiring him, and feels off about Winters.
  20. I am hoping he is given a serious look by Akron. Out of the remaining candidates, I feel like he is the best.
  21. A foundation set up in memory of Tyler.
  22. So he's only had one year as a coordinator (and thus only one year managing a staff of assistants) and he has never called plays, ever, because Temple's HC calls the offense. Yeah, that's the kind of guy we need. I don't know if you noticed, but Temple's quarterback was not very good. Before that, he had Tebow to work with and that would make you look pretty good no matter how your coaching skills are. Temple was rated 117th in the nation in passing yards. Akron was 105th. Without Bernard Pierce (who this guy inherited from the previous coach) carrying the team, they would have been worse on offense than we were.
  23. Narduzzi pulls his name out of consideration. There goes one of the few people who would succeed as our next head coach.
  24. Temples OC inherited Bernard Pierce and rode him to success. That's not very impressive to me. What part of Temple's success was he responsible for to make himself a candidate? Not to mention that his boss was Florida's OC, who really was in charge of the offense?
