I was thinking about the improvement we should see from our current contributors this year. To me, this is more important than the seven newcomers (including M. Green), regardless of how talented they might potentially be.
Lets start with the two seniors, Nik and Brett. Nik was one of the best palyers in the MAC at the end of last season. he was much more "in control" than his previous years. Now that he's harnessed his emotions his limit is through the roof. He will be a major team leader. Do you remember Brett coming out of nowhere at the beginning of last season to become a force all over the court? I think he's going to take a similar step forward this year as a monster of a 2-guard.
The returning juniors are Zeke and Q. This is Zeke's breakout year. This is the year he'll show off all that potential that caused him to be such a highly rated recruit. There's nobody in the MAC who can come close to competing with him at his position. As for Q, Dambrot himself said that he has NBA potential if he can just get himself under control. Last year he showed flashes here and there of moves that would make you do a double-take. An additional offseason in Dambrot's system will have him doing less of the dumb mistakes and more of the "wow" moves.
Abreu and Egner return as sophomores. Abreu is an incredible true PG already. His biggest flaw was passing it when he had an open look or lane to the basket, but that comes with the PG territory. He'll be the floor general now, taking over for McNees. Egner was ready to play more minutes last year but was held out of the tournament in favor of more experienced players. This kid can jump right over Zeke's head if he has a running start. He plays with heart, and rises to the moment. Egner should see much more minutes this year as the "energy guy" off the bench and sometimes as a starter. I think he'll be a fan favorite once he's allowed to start making some dunks.
