  1. 1350 WARF is owned by Clear Channel, and should be available on I Heart Radio. 1440 WHKZ and 1420 WHK are owned by Salem Communications, however.
  2. Barnes and Noble is the problem. They're the reason we can't open up a real team shop in the stadium. They're the reason the team shop in the JAR is only open like 3 hours a day. They're the reason we can't get more variety and have to go to places like Kohls or Walmart to find different Zips-brand clothes.
  3. OLB Marquise Vann verbals to Minnesota
  4. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-h...reeagency071610 This may be the best article yet on the whole thing. Here's just a small sample of this massive article:
  5. Yappi goes way back -- but I didn't know it had become Ohio-centric now. It started up, as I recall, in the mid-90s as one of the very first bulletin boards for high school and youth sports teams, but after the first two or three years, there was still almost nothing -- it was like the white area on the AT&T map (Verizon?). I hadn't seen it in years, and looks like it finally developed into something. A great outlet for Dave to find out about the Green soccer teams! Looks like Yappi became the destination for a lot of people when JJHuddle.com instituted a membership fee.
  6. I think you have it nailed down. Maybe Ennis is heading somewhere else. Sanders missed most of his senior season of high school ball with health problems, so that might be why other schools backed off.
  7. Beer sold in regular concession stands would be great if we ever actually had a concert there.
  8. You know that's not true. A significant percentage of the Rowdies I know are actual soccer fans. They follow the Premier League, they play FIFA videogames, and they organize pick-up games of soccer on campus. Most of the older alumni crowd, however, does not display this love for the game.
  9. LeBron never actually tried to recruit Bosh to Cleveland. He also slips up by insinuating that they really did have it planned for years.
  10. There's a huge difference between sports at the pro level and the collegiate level that comes into play here. A lot of Zips soccer fans are likely just Zips fans that are supporting a successful Zips team. They are supporting their school or alma mater or community. That doesn't really translate to the professional level where you don't have that connection to the prospective fans.
  11. Expanded radio coverage never adds new listeners; only a winning team and then a marketing blitz heavily focused on the fact that the team is winning can do that. The purpose of this is to let alumni who live outside 1350's range be able to listen to the broadcast.
  12. Maverick Carter and the Case of the Curious Pendant. This just gets better and better.
  13. Walsh, Malone, and Ursuline, all formerly NAIA schools, have been approved by the NCAA to move to D-II. The NCAA D-II scene in Ohio is getting crowded.
  14. And I just read on Zipsnation that there's something called Yappi. Class of 2010. He must be walking on unless we had a decommit. He would be our second walk-on in 2010 next to Darrell Blanton.
  15. SMU has acted stupid ever since they got hit with the death penalty.
  16. Waaaay back to the original topic, Ennis has recently been offered by Northern Iowa and Nebraska.
  17. Did the contract with WRQK 106.9 expire or get cancelled? Getting coverage in Canton is still important, and with the additions of these two stations it would cover the vast majority of the population centers in NE Ohio. If we can't get on 106.9, we should try some other station that covers that area.
  18. Having over 400 season tickets sold for college soccer is amazing. If we sell out all chairback and reserved tickets, it would put us in the top 40 schools for average attendance even without students, GA season ticket holders, and the walk-up crowd. http://web1.ncaa.org/web_files/stats/m_soc...2010/attend.pdf We don't have the capacity to compete with UCSB for the attendance title. We can move into the top 5 this year, though.
  19. Season ticket holders can pick up their scarves on August 20th.
  20. If you get an HD (Hybrid-Digital, not High Definition) radio, it completely eliminates any static or distortion in the AM spectrum. It's like being in the studio. But this is excellent news as far as expanding our coverage to the north and east.
  21. This position has just been filled. Gregg Bach, who some of you know as a spokesman for the Zips the past few years, was promoted to Assistant AD. I think this is a good hire.
  22. Talk some smack over there. We're already getting dissed in the comments.
  23. http://espn.go.com/blog/bigeast/post/_/id/...-the-big-east-2
  24. Coach Kest announced via Twitter that Sam Dixon has been named the new assistant coach, and that Ayla Guzzardo is returning as a Grad Assistant.
  25. Zippy rides down the field on a Segway - with training wheels this time.
