  1. Check the MAC board. Nobody knows how they got away with it. Some (crazy) people are saying that ISU is moving up to the FBS.Perhaps there was a policy shift with the new commissioner coming in, but it hasn't been reflected in the actual written conference rules. It's something to keep an eye on.
  2. There are about 100 more women's teams than men's teams. Men's soccer doesn't have enough teams to support a 64-team tournament without it becoming severely diluted.
  3. Any chance NW had of getting a top 4 seed is now gone. They might even be out of the running for a top 8 seed. Also, Wisconsin has the #38 RPI, but a losing record. They cannot be invited to the NCAA tournament without earning their conference's automatic bid. If they lose, it opens a spot for a team with a better record to get in.The less the Big Ten gets, the better.
  4. IU up 1-0 over Wisconsin on a Will Bruin goal just 20 seconds into the 2nd half.An IU win helps Akron more than a Wisconsin win would.
  5. I thought Parrish transferred out? Obviously ESPN could do a little homework on this you'd think. It's a Blue Ribbon Preview, ESPN just published it. And yes, Parrish transfered out a while ago.
  6. Part of the problem comes from not hosting our own site. And maybe the department is under-staffed. It wouldn't surprise me at all.
  7. A MSU win helps Akron out more than an NW win does.
  8. They seem a bit pre-occupied with getting destroyed by Tennessee. We'll catch them right after they've been beaten up and demoralized by the Vols.
  9. ESPN reporting that Euton, Green, and Egner have all signed.
  10. Any news on whether the signings have come in?And as for the 3rd scholarship, it's highly likely that Roberts' scholarship is for this year only. You can't promise him a scholly if there's any doubt at all that he might not be able to return next year. It's also possible that KD believes that there's no avoiding having at least one player transfer to a school that can offer more playing time. But that is a risky move, and not as likely.
  11. Latest Bracketology from ESPN has us as a 13-seed playing UConn in Providence, RI.
  12. It could be Nike forcing a certain style on all the teams that are contracted with them.
  13. There is a logjam of talent. It wouldn't surprise me. To me, it's a sign of an improving talent level. I have nothing against anyone who wants to leave for playing time. We potentially have a 14-man rotation! And for the people who asked, the attendance was 1,053 for the exhibition. I'm hoping for at least 3.5k on Sunday, since there isn't a Browns game to compete against.
  14. I did, too. I just deleted the message.
  15. About Zeke, I'm surprised that KD said that. He usually goes the Paterno route and downplays anything positive. And about the soccer game, I would also like 4,000 people at the games but that won't happen unless we double the seating capacity.
  16. Football funds every sport but basketball. If Football is successful, the other sports get a shot in the arm when it comes to funding. If football is not successful, every sport suffers. It has to be the #1 priority at this level.
  17. Akron needs to turn the win into positive momentum. It's amazing how much momentum affects a team.I hope that Nicely is bolstered by finally seeing his efforts pay off.
  18. I would expect them all to sign tomorrow. Perhaps the only MAC school to have 2010 recruiting finalized in the early period. A real advantage, IMHO.Go Zips!Someone take good notes tonight.I hope they all sign tomorrow. That takes a big load off of the coaching staff's shoulders, and that frees them up to focus more on the current team. Plus, they can start looking at the 2011 class which has huge potential.
  19. The NCAA early signing period starts tomorrow, I think. Will any of Akron's verbal commitments choose to sign their LOI early?
  20. Hadn't seen that one yet. Definitley a kid to keep an eye on if he's that highly rated by ESPN. With McNees and Roberts gone in 2011 a highly rated 6'3" shooting guard would certainly be nice.As a reference, Zeke Marshal is also rated a 92 by ESPN.
  21. If Akron wants to attract a successful coach, they'll have to pony up more than they do now. 300k puts us at an average MAC coaching salary.
  22. http://apps.facebook.com/akronfootballfans/Up to 4,637 fans. Saw a big jump after we beat Can't.There's also a basketball fan app here: http://apps.facebook.com/akronbasketball/
  23. GoZips.com announced that more coaches are getting on board with this.http://www.gozips.com//ViewArticle.dbml?DB...TCLID=204830779
  24. http://web1.ncaa.org/app_data/weeklyrpi/2009MSOrpi1.htmlThe final regular season RPIs are out, and Akron finally holds the top spot. The RPIs will not be updated between now and Selection Sunday. This is what the selection committee will see when seeding teams. Of course, they will also look to see if any team has lost in a conference tournament since now and they'll use some other metrics as well, but this is the most important one.
  25. Temple has the worst pass defense in the MAC - shouldn't we 'pass the ball and stop the run?'Sure, pass the ball. But you have to run it. Temple will try to blitz Nicely constantly, otherwise.
