Cleveland ignores Akron as a whole unless there is a controversy or a murder. They ignore Akron sports because they are a pro market. They have the Browns, Cavs, and Indians. The only college important to them is OSU. Not that this is a bad thing, though. As a resident of Akron, I usually ignore Cleveland (except for their sports). It is sort of a mutual non-acknowledgment. It is very difficult to explain to someone who does not live in Akron. I can try to sum it up as: Cleveland views Akron as a far-away suburb that tries to steal it's glory. Akronites resent that, and ignore Cleveland whenever possible. The only problem is that Akron-Canton doesn't form it's own news market (although it probably should), and so we settle for their news, even though we never get reported on.
