Buffalo changed head coaches this offseason. Weird things happen with recruiting during a coaching transition.

A late commitment from Florida. Might have just found a diamond in the rough. Also goes to show how crazy recruiting can be, and how talented kids can get left behind by sheer bad luck.

Miami is like a poor man's VCU, at least defensively. Akron has to beat the press. That's the bottom line.

That was pretty much it. The word 'accountant' was thrown around.

The Toledo fans I talked a while back to made it sound like he had more to do with it. They also didn't like him or the recently hired administrators from UT very much. I don't see why, since UTMC seems to have done fairly well.

How much was a car's cost back then compared to inflation? How much was gas to fill it up? Maintainence/upkeep? Some of these new cars, you can't easily change the oil yourself and that's by design. These days, kids have bills before they graduate high school. Phone bills, Netflix subscriptions, XBox subscriptions. That's like $75/month. Why would kids want to add car payments on top of that, especially if they're going to be living on a campus for a few years where everything is within walking distance or has shuttle service?

Things that put the school in a better position according to his opinion. Don't know enough about him or his motives to trust that any changes would be a good thing.

It's important, but the idea of stability goes beyond that. There are very few winning programs in the country where you can be fairly certain that you'll get to have the same head coach for your entire playing career. It's a bigger advantage than many realize, and it gets reinforced every time you hear about a coach getting fired or leaving for greener pastures right after signing day or right before a post season tournament.

I forgot about Shawnee State. They only opened in 1986. So there's 13 state universities, plus NeoMed. If Dr Scarborough can find a way to absorb NeoMed, I don't care what he renames UA to. I've heard it's mostly UA grads there anyway, despite being a partnership between UA, Can't, CSU, and YSU. Scarborough is supposed to have played a part in Toledo absorbing the Medical College of Ohio.

There are twelve primary state universities in Ohio. Can anyone name them all without looking it up?

He's been at a few basketball games. Offers from Belmont, Stony Brook, Wright State, and Miami (OH).

I can already hear the "Akron's not a state!" chants on all my future road trips.

Ohio doesn't have a good record, but they are still a talented team. They have suffered from chemistry issues and not understanding their new coach's gameplans. When they play Akron, they are able to "turn it on".

I still think Kwan's coming to terms with not being a guard.

Rename it to what, exactly? It's bad enough that half the region still thinks we're called Akron U from the Rubber Factory days.

In the MAC, it's only Akron/Can't. Conferences with bad weather late in the season and poor overall attendance should play their rivalyry games as early as possible.

It was a good win last night, though the Zips weren't without their issues. Glad that Deji and Nyles both got to contribute on senior night. Antino is really coming into his own. What a game by him. Also, a great game by Big Dog. Those LED foam sticks they handed out to the crowd looked awesome when the lights went out for the player introductions.

That's because for on-campus games they count everybody walking between classes down the sidewalk as having attended the game.

Akron has a healthy lead going into the final day of the MAC Championships. It would be great to win it again this year, after winning their first ever conference championship last year.
