Newman Williams switching to Offense

With mostly the same players from 2011, except for Dalton at QB, Akron averaged about 14 more points per game in 2012. That kind of year-to-year improvement on offense is ridiculous. Akron has averaged fewer points each year since then. The offense has regressed but the defense has made a miraculous transformation.

Reagrding the RB debate, I think that no RB would have looked very good last year for the Zips, whether they were the most or least talented in the conference. Nobody got consistent carries to get into a rythm. Bowden and Milwee basically wanted a home-run hitting Dri Archer style back, but without the part where they work him into the offense over the course of the game.

It looks like unless UAB can get their program back by June, they're getting the boot from C-USA. This would cause a minor conference realignment shake-up, since C-USA would be looking for a replacement, while UAB would take a very successful basketball program to some other conference. I wish Akron would jump on this last chance to get out of the MAC.
