I agree, and I think we're underestimating what these players would do to the program in terms of talent. It is a sad indictment of our program that I would not be shocked if each of these guys were immediately in our top dozen players next year. I don't mean to overblow something that is just a rumor on a forum, but I think this move would be made to be over .500 next year. It's really the only way that happens. Maybe there was a conversation that we can't continue losing at this pace, and even with your "process" and player maturation we get to 4 wins next year... sorry coach, that's not going to be good enough. Get to 6-6 or better and then the following year sustain that with all your own players.

My first feeling was "yeah, what does this do to the locker room" but after reading some more posts and thinking a little longer, I care less for the locker room dynamics and way more for results. Plus I agree that the locker room isn't rock solid right now anyways. I know it's fun to bash Notre Dame, but saying that you don't care for their HS ratings, or that they weren't good enough to beat out their competition means nothing to me. With the way this team is playing, backups from major schools are better than our starters. Period. Also don't underestimate what a year of our young players learning from these "vets" might mean to their development.

Multiple Moore scrambles, a big 20+ yard gain from the Chisel, a bullet pass to the FB at the 1, culminating with a Chisel dive into the endzone. Looked like a real team on that drive. Also the first time I've gotten to see the zips other than at OSU... there's alot more formations in this offense than one would believe listening to the "Pro set sucks" crowd. -

Should have had a Pass Interfence in the endzone. Not sure how the ref missed it. It's usually a dead giveaway when the defender turns in the middle of a dive and pulls his "not me" hands back before he even hits the ground. -

Just got done mowing in time to bring up the webcast of the game and watch our td drive. Moore looks like he has a good advantage scrambling with the ball against these slower, non-top 25 teams. Nice pass to the full back... just let it go and let your players make a play. Also, although the 1350 audio doesn't sink up, nice overall job with the webcast. -
Only difference, in Cleveland that walk involves traversing a gauntlet of exhibitionist, hookers, and thieves. 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

I'd make a sign that says:Can't State "Athletes"Look to your left and right, one of you 3 is on probation.

I don't post much, but this has to be one of the dumbest posts I've ever read. Coaches are supposed to figure things out... just not a practice? How exactly do coaches figure things out if not a practice? Draw it on a white board and then have Ianello run post patterns in the hallway? Hey, coach caught that pass against a phantom defense in the parking lot... let's put that in on gameday. Is there a smiley icon for someone saying "good GOD!" and slamming their head off their desk? This may be one of the dumbest posts I've ever read. Coaches aren't allowed to coach at 7 on 7s. They aren't allowed to hand the players a playbook. They aren't allowed to sit in the stands and watch. They aren't allowed to help set them up with another school. They aren't even technically supposed to know that a 7 on 7 even happened. Thus, the players can only work on what they already know at a 7 on 7. How the hell do you expect our coaches to try new things with our players when they can't have anything to do with these events? Telepathy? If a tree falls in the woods... If a practice happens that no coaches are present at, and the players don't run the coach's plays at a high enough level of intensity... does anyone give a crap?

You want to impress us, do something about our football team on September 3rd. In order to be saved, one must confess their wrongs. Until the Zips confess they are spending too much time building and not enough time focued on winning, they cannot be saved. I thought they were supposed to focus on doing their best... or so said Woody Harrelson or somebody. Building isn't doing your best. Doing your best leads to winning. Building may be doing your best with that collection of players. Doing your best may lead to winning, or it may not. Besides, to your point, at the end of the day it all comes down to which basketball offense you run.... put the ball in the hoop or don't put the ball in the hoop. Gee... I sure hope we chose the right one.

LET'S GO ZIIIIIIIPPPSS!!!Keep the ball moving, play slow-down D, but I say keep running against the press.Nik... keep getting pissed!

Would/could we pull something like this off? Does the jumbotron at Akron have the capability of piping in the game feed?I bet if it were advertised, you could fill the place up for this game. UA could make a ton of money on the concessions and we'd get to enjoy a gamelike atmosphere.Even get that guy out there that acts like he's a member of the scream team! What's everyone think?

I probably should know this, but who won it the past 4 years?
-
Or Linhart goes off for 20 in this next game... single handedly knocking of the Sweaters by a final score of 20-17.

FYI Zipsnation... just received a campus email that says they'll be building a new 426 space parking deck over the parking lot just west of the exchange st deck (by Shrank and McDonalds). And the ramp-up for the new stadium continues!

If we get the 4 seed, and MU gets the 1st, that's the best team I'd want to see in the semifinals. We play their slow, grind it out game better than they do. I'm more worried about Can't State, Buffalo, or BGSU.

I only caught the second half... but I was pleasently surprised by Bardo's effort. I thought it was a nice, efficient half for him.I agree on this though: we need a dunker. Somebody who throws it down every chance they get. I hope Zeke is more Dwight Howard than Ilgauskas.

I think this is VERY telling of the situation the MAC is in. We can't get on TV unless it's on a weeknight, but we can't see vastly improved attendance unless we play on saturdays. People want, NEED, the saturday tailgating college football experience. This is especially true when it comes to season tickets. Playing some weeknight games doesn't automatically mean poor attendance numbers, you can still have alot of walkup sales, especially if the team is doing well, or it's good weather, or it's a big opponent. But season ticket sales is where the money is for the athletic department. People don't by season tix based on who our opponents are. It's based first on when the games are. You simply can't ask people to know whether they'll be available on a Wednesday night 6 months from now. And in a sport like college football, where season tickets only means 5 games, even one game that a person can't attend is too many... they might as well buy walkups for four games and assume they'll be able to get decent seats than buy season tickets and miss one game. What's the solution? Get the games on Saturdays, national TV viewing be damned. I'd much rather build a fan base within a 50 mile radius. If you want out-of-area exposure, start negotiating HARD to get games on FSN or STO. Also, get a real online streaming video of all games. Hell, charge $50 for the season for it. As long as people know it'll always be up and always be a good video stream, they'll pay for it.On the budget bottom line, it may make more money to get one game on ESPNU than to get 5k more people per saturday games, but for the future, it leaves us in the same spot: decreased local fan base and begging ESPNU to put us on a Weds night game.Bite the bullet for 5 years, get a strong saturday fan base, and ESPNU will be asking us to put a saturday game on TV.

About people who recognize their degree at one school but invest emotionally in another....A sales engineer and I went to lunch, he started talking about where his son should go to school and asking me for advice (since I'm just out). I was telling him that coming out with less debt from a public state school is better than a bigger name degree from a private or out of state school where the kid will be up to his eyeballs in debt.He used that as a segway to say that he went to the College of Wooster, and I said "oh, that's cool, I went to Case for 2 years and played Wooster in football."His response was to the effect of: "yeah, sometimes I want to make my kid go to OSU, because, y'know, I'm such a big OSU fan, and when people ask me if I went there, I have to be, like, no, I went to Wooster." (Italics added for the incredulous disdain in his voice)The guy has the career he has because of his education, and yet he dumps on his alma mater because people rightly see him as the front runner he is. It, coupled with Olive Garden's menu, made me throw up in my mouth a lil bit. Now, I think his kid should go to OSU before he pays to go to Wooster, but the point is, if it comes down to enrolling his son at OSU or any public MAC school, which do you think he'll choose?

I know this has been said before, and who knows if he can stay out of trouble... but I can't wait to see Devoe. I got to see him play a few games at Massilon (my buddy was coaching there) and he just wouldn't be stopped.
