  1. http://insidepuertoricobasketball.blogspot...ects-akron.html Utah and Colorado are listed here...I also know from "someone in the know" that there were a few other offers, and a ton of teams interested. A) The kid can play...trust me KD didn't bring him here if he's not going to contribute C) He's better now and has more potential for the future than any of Sullivan, Swiech, and/or Steward. I also don't think Diggs will redshirt...he'll be a major contributor next year. Man...that article is from last month? why did it take us so long to find this out, these NE ohio reporters are slacking big time
  2. What if he never figures it out? Almost to my thirties, I am just now fully realizing how much I enjoy chicken wings and beer. I want to fully realize my potential before it is too late. Nice. In my mid 30's and realize wings and beer are IT....nothing more to see here...that's it...oh yeah, boobs are nice too...enjoy. My wish is sometime soon the Zips play YSU and end this pointless discussion. Zips would win 9 out of 10 games played against YSU. I would be highly upset with 9 out of 10. There is no excuse for us not to win 10 out of 10. I would be most upset if we even scheduled that team that much!
  3. It's good he can play good games in empty arenas. He should feel right at home at the JAR!!! hahaha
  4. I'm obviously not talking about the landscaping. I wanted to find a good example of a campus that has made good use of their neighborhoods. Like I said a florida school will obviously look nicer than an ohio school. But there's no reason Exchange street couldn't have nicer shops and restaurants. I just posted those pictures to show the types of plazas they could built to attract people.
  5. I don't understand why no local companies want to step up and give some money. Look at the football stadium, Infocision, Summa, and First Merit all stepped in and gave major donations. I wish a company like PNC or FirstEnergy would give some money. Then just name it "PNC field" easy as that haha
  6. What part of "They are building a soccer stadium right now" did you miss? It's being built in phases, but it is being done. For the next season the playing surface will be lower, there will be more berm seating, the start of a plaza where the the soccer, softball, baseball and track meet, and new lighting will be installed. The following year they will build a new press tower, chairback seating, move bleacher seating onto the east berm and start building team rooms, restrooms and concession stands. Did you not even notice that every one of the soccer team's spring games were away this year? It's not because of weather, it's because the field is being dug up. Of course I know they have started to dig up the field. But I had read on here that they don't have the $$ yet, which is why it is being built in phases. That is why it is taking so long. I see no reason why they couldn't get it all done before the start of next season.
  7. The last estimate given to me was around $70,000,000 for a new arena. i wouldn't be surprised if it reached $80,000,000. And, a word to the wise as they say: "location, location, location" and "haste makes waste". Ted Curtis, VP of Planning, and Facilities management made that clear when he said that they "had to build the stadium right the first time because" they "won't get another chance to do it right again at least not for a long, long time." The location of Info was a bigger issue than most people know and UA took the time it needed in order to build it on a site that is clearly and unarguably on campus. A new arena is worthy of this same quality and well thought out planning. And bigger than that UA students are worthy of it.. They are the reason UA exists and the institution's first and foremost customers far above any other group in the region and state. was that from a legit source? I just feel like UA will go cheap with the arena and build another JAR facility. I just can't understand how they can pay $60mil on the Info, then $70 mil on a basketball arena, but not come up with a few million to build a soccer stadium for our most successful team
  8. At this point I just want a new arena built ASAP! I don't care where it's built as long as it's 10,000+ and is a nice place that can get us recruits and more fans. The sooner the better and I think it might cost more than the stadium did. Some of the newer arenas that size have been on the 70-80 million range
  9. Isn't Buchtel still open? or did they just re-route it?
  10. The sad part is that the days of having Springsteen and Dylan at UA of far from over. Thats why we get stuck with mediocre acts like Nora Jones and Colbie Caillat. TSO is only has good Christmas music, so they got the timing off with them. I feel that all the big name acts college students go to see are at Blossom. Seriously any mainstream Hip Hop artist or Country artist would be a HUGE draw at EJ or Infocision. We really have two great venues for concerts, an indoor and outdoor...They do a poor job of advertising as well, I usually don't hear about some of these concerts until after they happen. The only ones I hear about are the RHPB concerts at like Starbucks, which involve either a person reading poetry or playing a piano...
  11. Devoe Torrence is better than any YSU running back there or coming. Regardless he is a linebacker first and foremost and eventually will figure that out. Also, I dont see him as this "bum" as some people are calling him. He is a tremendous talent that just hasn't got his chance to shine, like i said, when he figures out what his true position is he will be a star. Same thing I was thinking. There is no way YSU has any running backs anywhere near as talented as him haha I can't help but laugh when you come around here and try to act like YSU is so superior to akron. Trust me the worst players on Akron's team would be stars for the penguins...
  12. +1. But hey, what a great life though, huh?! Travelling Europe. Playing basketball. Getting paid very decent money. Sounds posh to me! I'd rather live in the U.S., he'd be lucky if he could sign a D-League or ABA contract instead...I mean Europe would be good for a Griswald vacation, but to live there? I couldn't handle that. New language, have to make new friends, no family...but some pretty fine women!
  13. I was being sarcastic about CSU. A significant amount of their athletic income comes from renting out the Wolstein Center for events. Like I've been saying a million times...why aren't there any damn concerts at InfoCision Stadium! haha, we could bring in a ton of money, but we just have that place sitting empty. While the best concerts UA can come up with are Nora Jones and TSO at EJ? and some marching band at the stadium? what a waste.....
  14. There was an article in the ABJ about it. The psych department having a "wall breaking" rather than a ground breaking. No wonder I missed that article. There's nothing to it. It does look cool, though. Anyone notice this one.... Can't State Article
  15. Ask KD! Well technically the bball team played them in an exhibition game right? I think all the teams we played in the regular season were at least in Division 1, but I could be wrong. Also with basketball there are 30+ games, you have room for a few cupcake teams. Football's tougher. You only have a handful of home games, and saying that UA is avoiding scheduling MU is ridiculous. A team is good in D3? big deal! they wouldn't last 1 quarter against any D1 teams. It's a whole different ballgame. Those guys were most likely not recruited by any schools, and are not on scholarships. It might as well be club football. I think the Morgan State game showed how a pretty poor FBS team can do against the FCS. Of course you have the once in a blue moon App State game against Michigan, but still that's two D1 teams. We would not benefit anything, nor do I think we would even be allowed, to play a D3 team. It's a complete WASTE of time for everyone!
  16. a FCS team had no chance against us. Why would we waste our time playing a D2 or D3 team? that makes no sense
  17. It could be a Zoo of MAC mascots. We could have a kangaroo, bull, bobcat (Or a large housecat), an eagle/hawk (paint one half orange&brown, the other Blue & maze, the ass red, and the turds green), and a sled dog. The remainder of the animals can be found living free in the general vicinity campus. The zoo keeper can dress as a Chippewa. It would be like the ESPN commercials. This is completely ridiculous...no dentist has ever performed surgery on an eagle to give it teeth before so the zoo can not be accurate. yeah and you would need to fit in a goofy rocket man in there too, for Toledo.
  18. I wish UA would look to UCF's "Knights Plaza" as inspiration for Exchange Street. Knights Plaza Website They basically have an outdoor shopping center right by the new football stadium and arena. Luckily InfoCision makes their stadium look like a dump, but the arena, shops, and dorms are a million times better than the homeless, criminal, white trash infested Exchange Street. I understand a florida campus is going to look a lot better than a Ohio campus. But there are shopping areas like this all over in the North. I know, being a student those stores would be packed and students would be flocking to the restaurants to spend their dining dollars. Just look at how many go to the Barley House and Country Diner...
  19. Not suggesting we need one, but more dangerous than a live Longhorn Steer (Texas), Buffalo (Colorado) or Tiger (LSU)? If there was a real call for it, it could be done. well they hop and stuff. It seems like it would be hard to keep them tame. I also think they are a lot faster than those animals. So it would just jump over any fence we had and make a run for it. And I think it would be impossible to put it on a leash
  20. we could always use this guy as our mascot: I can't remember if he was a wallaby or a kangaroo, but anyways he was awesome
  21. Kangaroos are too dangerous. I always thought it might be cool to have a Zoo-type habitat somewhere on campus with real kangaroos in it. I mean in Tampa Bay they have a live devil ray aquarium. We could just do the same...have the akron zoo take care of it.
  22. NO...this makes it seem like he's some robot built by Apple. And everyone knows that anything built by Apple is doomed to fail. We have to think more positive and not associate Coach I with the iPod and the brand new iMaxiPad!!!
  23. I agree Jake, until they move the Polsky building and Quaker Inn conspicuously into the center of campus, they will not truly be a part of campus. If you'd stop being juvenile perhaps you could understand adult thinking and not be so intellectually dishonest. Really, you argue like an eight year old. I'm just greatful this blog doesn't represent any genuine example of those who support UA. The answer to the Polsky building is for. The answer for QS is for UA to make it look more integrated. Your failed attempt at wit and sarcasm really makes you look very stupid and small. Actually I don't think anyone has a problem with Quaker Square or Polsky, except for you. But you seem to have a problem with everything, and everyone... Why would UA want to sell polsky? just because it's across the street? thats a good idea. I had to cross the street today to get to InfoCision Stadium. I guess the best thing to do with the stadium is for UA to sell it. I had to cross a parking lot to get to the Union today, should probably sell it too. Thanks for helping me to make my point about your juvenile and dishonest mentality. I couldn't have illustrated your rabid and pessimistic idiocy any better. Your Welcome! I'm glad no one agrees with you on here
  24. This is the same crap ESPN and TNT have been saying all year. You can't watch a cavs game anymore on any channel other than FS Ohio, or else you the entire game they will be talking about him leaving. But truth is only one man knows and that's the king. All the rest is stupid speculation and every person is just saying he will be playing for "their team." But all I can say is the Zips will always be his team, because he was born in AK and he will stand by us!
  25. well Ohio fans probably think he'd be the 1st overall pick...but honestly I don't think he will even get drafted. I see him playing in Europe or something.
