I would have to agree with that, because there is probably a general monetary incentive involved for being done and passing inspections by certain dates. You also lose monies if you don't deliver on time. The OT you're paying now you recoup through the incentives you get for delivering early. They have time lines built for all parts of this project from the Stadium right down to final dorm building. As I've said her earlier. I have family who work in construction in NE Ohio and in other parts of the country both union and non-union companies. I post and speak with first hand knowledge.

That's all I've thought when I see them working Saturdays, see them still working on the Cams late into the day or hear they're working on the press tower late into the night.I would like to see us all stay positive about the project.

I'm not a doom-and-gloomer, but that item was actually posted on Feb. 10, not today.Posted yesterday was a release about Saturday's tours (please bring your cameras, ZipNation members!).Stadium tours press releaseToday or Feb 10th. I was reading about the tours for tomorrow and found that. There no way the project is 45 days behind schedule just because they're working weekends (They been working several weekends since the Stadium project started last year) and longer hours. The more daylight and better weather you have. The longer you work on construction projects of this type. The bottom line is Feb 10th as well as today. The project is on schedule.

For all the gloom and doom posters. This was posted today at http://www.gozips.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_...CRIBER_CONTENT=As an FYI. construction at InfoCision Stadium/Summa Field remains on schedule

I lost skin at the RB more then couple times We played a scrimage there late August 1976 during really hot Saturday Mid-day and I felt like my feet were on fire by the time we got back to our school. I had blisters on my feet by Sunday.I perfer real grass or even mud to playing on that stuff.

Summa Field’s Playing Surface:Synthetic (similar to Rubber Bowl, Stile Field House and Schrank Field). In other words Field turf.No one installs Astro turf anymore.Actually, there is an AstroTurf Brand of synthetic surface. Similar appearance to Field Turf, but made by the AstroTurf brand. This company (AstroTurf) resurfaced about a year or two ago, and the new AstroTurf company has installed fields in multiple locations. They put a high school football field in the town that I live in, Greeneville, TN, last year.http://www.astroturfusa.com/Multiple companies make synthetic surfaces, including FieldTurf, Sprinturf, Sportexe, and AstroTurf. Most synthetic companies make a similar type of surface to FieldTurf now. If you're saying that no one installs the old carpet/astroturf substance for football, you are correct. Some schools, however, will still install the old astroturf-type surface for field hockey, but not for football.More than one manufacturing company produces the new synthetic-type surfaces for football. Which company will get the contract for the Info turf project? That's the question that I'm asking. They may call it Astro turf. But, that far cry from the original Astro Turf. It's not the same carpet on concrete they used to install. It's just another verison of Field Turf still called Astro turf.No one installs the carpet on concrete anymore. Not if you want to avoid turf toe and the other serious injuries you're sure to get using that crap.

is obama coming or something? Didn't realize they are calling it that.(P and M arn't even close man!)...and arn't isn't a word but I'm not ripping you a new one!I hope the home opener offers some hope for the home-grown construction workers who want to go home to their wife hope....oh and so I post something worthwhile Here's something worthwhilehttp://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/ballpar...sp&sid=t431This is brand new ballpark for The Gwinnett Braves Triple AAA team for the Atlanta Braves that moved here from Richmond. They just started construction on this ballpark July 2008 and Opening Day in April 17th. It's all of 5.5 miles from my house. They built a ballpark larger then Canal Park in less then 11 months and the only thing missing from the project are some office buildings they'll finish in the coming months. Peek at the photos and see how state of the Art triple AAA it is.It's projects like this one why I'm so confident the Info will be ready come 9/12.If, that not enough for you here's The Columbus Clippers new ballpark built in little over 1 year's time.http://www.huntingtonparkcolumbus.com/Photos.html

I was up there last night (Monday) and saw some work being done around 7 p.m. I wonder if they're making a little push to get a little extra done before the first public tours this Saturday? This is what I like to see posted here rather then comments about them being behind. Lets all stay positive and not post like the trolls at the ABJ or Cant Grads when talking about the Info.

It called we moved the home opener from 9/19 to 9/12.We had couple of sub zero days in back in Jan.It's nothing major or they sure as heck wouldn't have pushed the opener from 9/19 to 9/12.Let's cut the gloom and doom and just enjoy the stadium as it takes shapeApril, May, June, July and August is long time to get the stadium part of the project done.My screen saver is the last aerial shot from Feb 24th. I look at what the project looked like then Vs waht the camera is showing me today and it blows me away.I can only imagine what it will look like come April 30th and May 30th.I have no doubts the stadium part will be done. They may still be working on the parts of the front gate or floors 2-4 of the press tower for classrooms. But, I'm betting the rest will be fine.
-
I agree, no one realizes that if we were 9 weeks, 6 weeks, 32 weeks, whatever, we wouldn't move the home opener up a week...Agreed here. All I know is we'll have Brand new stadium ready for football come 9/12/2009.No more arguing from me on that point.I'm just going to continue to enjoy the outstanding job this contruction crew is doing look forward to the stadium to continue taking shape like it has. On 01/24/2008 you still had dorms, parking lots, houses and businesses on the site.Look at what we have today 03-30-2009.I don't see how anyone couldn't be impressed with that and not be excited about what we'll have come 09/12/09.

How did you come up with 45? Is that 9 weeks or 6 weeks? 45 days seems like a LOT of time to be behind schedule.Question 1: How did you come up with 45? Simple extrapolation based on how far they were behind schedule at the topping off ceremony.Question 2: Is that 9 weeks or 6 weeks?Neither, 45 days is actually 7 weeks and three days (you aren't an education major are you?).They're not 45 days behind schedule. They were not behind schedule on the topping off ceremony and they're not 45 days behind schedule. The stadium part of the project is on track and they're only working Saturdays now to make up for the cold days they lost during the winter. They're projecting come August they'll only working on the field and scoreboard and just the final touching up of the stadium part.Keep in mind that's the stadium part. The lower levels of the press tower may not be ready for classroom until a bit later. This information comes directly from the ABJ beat writer for UofA.I have picture on my laptop of the Stadium on Feb 24th and comparing it today is awesome the amount of work done in the past month. You'll get to see how wrong you are in the coming weeks/months and I'll be sure to tell you I told you so. When there are no workers working on the project 45 days after the scheduled completion date you be sure and let me know. The stadium part where the games will be played is on track. They'll be there working on dorms which were never scheduled to be finished until months after the stadium. I don't consider floors 2-4 of the press tower as needing to be completed before 9/12.

My Sister went to UC and I see UC and Akron completely different. I think UA is really a major driving force in the city, where as Cinci was a factor, but one of many. I hope to see the University Park neighborhood start to flourish more, that would really start to give Akron some energy. But, I'm old enough to remember Nippert Stadium was a junk yard and Cincy had no facilites and couldn't draw jack to then 26,000 capacity Nippert. That like the RB had lights on the field back in those days.Today they have state of the Art facilities and they pack 35,000 Nippert and feel they'll need to enlarge the place in the coming decade.Cincy come a long way since the early 1980's.Lville football program was same boat except they were above medicore going 8-3 and 7-4. They played at old Cardinal Stadium in front of 9,000 to 14,000 at best. Today they play soon to be expanded Papa John Cardinal Stadium and they pack the 45,000 seats and have waiting list for season tickets.Put a winner on the field and build the top notch facilities and the fans will come.

Oh, then it must be accurate..... I don't have the slightest clue of how far behind they are, but I'm sure they will be working their hardest to get the job done on time. Now, does anyone have any idea if the budget increases if they are working overtime? I would think it would, but I'm not sure how this stuff goes with construction. Also, as a worker in this economy, would you rather get paid overtime now, or would you rather have a steady job for an additonal couple of weeks? That's the same beat writer who told me Manny would settle just before trial started. Just one of few tidbits I've gotten during this whole process.I've known her for years and she hasn't been wrong yet. At worst they're 10 to 20 days behind schedule.Another fact how things are moving along. Thursday 03-19 you had nothing above the visitors locker for the upper deck. Just take a look at that part today 03-28. If, they can do that much in one week and one day. A 166 days is more then enough time to get the stadium part of the project finished. They just started tearing down the dorms on Jan. 24th 2008. There no way to lose a month and half of work in year and two months of construction. We had stadium cams since Feb 15th.Has anyone here seen 45 working days of nothing over that period?

Also, I was curious about how you would apply this number as we go forward. 45 days is a long time and I would think there is no way they would get the project done in time for a new opening day of Sept. 12th.It's simple. They're not 45 days behind schedule or 30 days behind schedule. At worst per the ABJ beat writer for UofA. They're 10 to 20 days behind where they wanted to be as of 03/27 and they're sure they can make that up working Saturdays and longer hours during the week as the weather gets better. Curtis and company are confident the Stadium will be ready on time. Question for the doubters. Why schedule a home game 7 days earlier, if you're 45 days behind schedule?

I just perused channel 3's website and did not see the rendering. Can you post a link to the rendering you saw?If you check here ="http://www.wkyc.com/news/regional/akron_article.aspx?storyid=109959&catid=6"]linklook at the section below the video player...it automatically shows two photos one being the "old" rendering according to someone else here on the site. This makes sense as they also pointed out the missing end zone facility!Looking at the two rendering are the reasons I kept telling mrasor on his blog. Why don't wait like the rest of to see the finished product instead threatening to sue UofA over sunshine laws because you want to steal UofA thunder to show the final rendering on your blog. He only beat UofA by couple of days instead of the weeks he pressed then to show him the renderings so he could post them on his blog by using Ohio Sunshine laws and UofA being a public university.

Can you post a link to the rendering you saw? Here's the linkhttp://www.wkyc.com/news/regional/akron_ar...959&catid=6The only difference I noticed is there appears to be a gap in dorm building behind the scoreboard that not similar to the UofA Site. They may have decided to change that part since Manny :john :john were just taken this month.

I watch them briefly Saturday during one of the March Madness halftime. They looked like bleachers to me.

I hope one of our locals here get pictures when the wrecker hits those places.

We're due for another aerial photograph. The last one I using as a screen saver has snow on the ground.

Looks like they're swinging the steel for the final part of the eastside upper deck today. The part above the visitors locker room.
-
That is all you need to say? squeaking out against a team with 7 wins...Gonzaga 78San Francisco 73Squeaking out win vs a team with 9 wins.It happens to everybody.

Not too mention Liam's Mom on Mike and Mike in the Morning on ESPN picked Akron to make the sweet 16 in her picks. For what that's worth.

Does anyone know if they are planning on adding more seats in the gap shown in between the upper section and the club/lodges...seems to be avery large gap still or this is a bad angle. It would see from the renderings that there should be more capacity on that second level than there is now. Seems like a big chunk left to do?The stands will connect to the tower. However, they have to set up the external wall structure for the 4 lower stories before they start putting in the steal for the remainder of the upper deck. Otherwise it will be difficult (impossible) to move the fork lifters around down there carrying the external wall materials.Nice...thanks for clearing that up!You can see the steel for that portion of the upper deck in the lower stands below. There work they have to due on the lower 4 floors before they can install that part of the upper deck. It's like the eastside where the upper deck can't be place over the visitors locker room until they finish the work below.
