  1. I'm sorry I tend to dis agree... maybe cause I don't have classes on Friday's but that's besides the point. If Akron pulls off the upset against N.C. State in Raliegh I think that people are going to fill those seats rain or shine (cold or warm). Besides last year was a situation where the team was (record-wise) going for a three or four way tie for first in the MAC East and it just happened to be that we got the good fortune of being the team to make it to the championship (Granted we won the championship). That reason and the weather combined for the poor attendance. That's why it would be amazing if the new stadium was domed (I know it would never happen... but you could imagine how sweet that would be). This schedule is kind of funky with how late our first home game is yet I kind of like it. If we can pull off an upset in those first few games and steam roll through the MAC (which I think we will) this schedule will only make our record more of an accomplishment. As well this tough schedule is preparing the Zips for the tough schedule that they'll be facing next year, with the season kicking off at Ohio State!!! I think the Zips need this season to be extremely tough so the following year will be a "been there done that" situation.
  2. From what I've heard he'll be redshirting. BUT I have also heard that he is the most talented QB we've got, he just doesn't know the offense enough to burn a redshirt this year, to only see limited playing time behind Getsy. It sounds like he'll be our starter come this time next year and we'll have a back-up with some playing experience whether it's Jacquamain or Jackson (not a bad situation to be in).
  3. I look at it this way though, I'm just glad we lost DJ Henderson, Mark Jackson, and Stoudemire RATHER THAN David Harvey, Aaris Reed, and Sean Hakes. Those three are so important to our near future where as the first three can be replaced in the next class. It's alot harder to find special skills players like Harvey, Reed, and Hakes than it is to find a tall WR with alot of upside, big DT with upside, and OL hasn't been an area we've had trouble recruiting as of late.
  4. Yea I should probably try to get out there and see how they look. I guess you're right alot does happen over summer. Jackson must've really put in some hard work this summer, because this spring I just didn't see "it". But I'll go check it out to see first hand what you're talking about. Good to hear something about Hakes I was wondering how he was doing.
  5. Yea I don't get it either!!! Guess they just want to beat the "dead horse" that is the Maurice Clarett saga. The Beacon Journal should just give Mike Rasor a column... he seems like the only person who can consistently cover U of Akron sports. I didn't get to make it to Media Day how was it???
  6. To be honest I'm not TOO concerned about our RB situation, hopefully Reed will be back from surgery quickly.I am really excited about this kid, Harvey, Hakes, and Reed were my favorite recruits coming in this fall. It'd kinda be nice to see another one (Reed) getting playing time this year along side Harvey.
  7. I thought I heard about Boone not qualifying but I don't remember where...
  8. I dunno Beanie... I can't say I've been to the practices but I was at the Spring Game and Jackson was flat-out outplayed by Jacquamain. Jackson just didn't seem to have the command of the offense or the passing skills needed to run it, but that's just my opinion. If I had to throw one of the two in a game situation I would definitely feel more comfortable with Jacquamain. I don't think Jackson will be moved positions even if he doesn't win the #2 job. I heard he clocked a 4.8 40 yard dash this spring or summer, which i think is too slow to play reciever or safety. So I don't see him as anything but a QB.
  9. Sad to hear this... I've heard he has great work ethic, I expect to see him back strong next year.Glad to hear he's getting a medical red-shirt.Good luck to him during his recovery.
  10. Looks like somebody else put on weight as well... remember how skinny Hakes looked in the Spring Game? I just saw this photo on his facebook.QB Hakes PhotoI couldn't get the picture to load onto the page so if somebody else knows how to do it feel free. Heard through a buddy in the program he weighed in at 220 at one point this summer. Props to Coach Bailey for getting the team in great shape.
  11. I'll second that... what is going on??? I just have two things I want to see...1) Sign J.D. with decent money (Put him in the top 20% in the MAC)2) Announce some type of progress on the StadiumReally shouldn't be too much to ask
  12. JD WILL LEAVE AKRON... after He takes us to a BCS Bowl in 2009!!! Then we'll pick up another coach that's a rising star.
  13. What's the word on Peyton is he at Akron or what? He's not on the roster and I have yet to hear any new updates on him. just wondering what the deal was... If he went to Akron he would have to sit out a year right???
  14. I like the All-Porpuse Back or the slot-back position for Pride. He seems like the kinda player we'll try to get the ball to in the open field. We can never get enough playmakers on the team.
