The two small buildings are the entrances to the endzone facility for the stairwells and elevators for the building. The area between the entrances can be used on gameday for fans to view the game SRO.SRO...lol hopefully one day!

Good points, I would at least think you could get them from the school? They had them very recently in the Zips team shop but now they do not offer either the football or the basketball ones. They may have them at the new team shops in the stadium...god I hope so, talk about dropping the ball. Thanks!
-
WalmartDo they look like the real Zips jerseys or are they those cheap knock-offs like the Ohio State ones the sell that say Buckeyes real big across the back nameplate.I am looking for nice replicas not these...
-
21 views and noone knows how to get a Zips football jersey!!!A new stadium is opening in less than 3 months and apparently you cannot buy a football jersey to wear to the game. Why does stuff like this only happen at Akron? And I am not blaming anyone who has viewed this page, only the university and the people that should be in charge of things like this...sports marketing?
-
Anybody know where you can buy them? They used to sell them on Athlete-tech.com a few years back, that is where I got my away white #5 jersey but they do not sell them anymore? They used to sell them online through the team shop but no dice there either?
-
Guess the equipment to move the lightpoles from the Rubber Bowl wasn't available until October!
-
Sounds like something the sports marketing department should be on top of.Yes, last year someone had inquired about the Info being in the game this year NCAA 10 and he knew nothing about us getting a new stadium! The other guy sent him the link to the website to view the plans and while he was very impressed he mentioned the cut-off for the game art is in February so unless it was finished by then (Feb 09) we were out of luck until NCAA 11. They send people in to take hundreds of HD photos of the stadiums to render them as accurately as possible, so it will require some cooperation by the University to get it done.I did see the Zips unis in the game and they are the same as last year so if we are getting new unis, the school never notified EA sports about it. I doubt we are getting new ones anyways, that would make too much sense with the new stadium and all!
-
No, it would be impossible for them to include either. I heard they actually send their people in to take pictures at numerous angles. They pride themselves on their accuracy. Does anyone know if it will be on '11?One of the producers Adam Thompson said it should be in NCAA' 11. Alot of it is up to the cooperation of the Universities. They rely on the school to notify about uniform changes and stadium upgrades, changes etc.

EDIT**** Looks like they moved the logos around...looks better!
-
Okay, so I may have my first gripe about the stadium. The Infocision or Summa patch you can see in the 2nd webcam. If that is where they have sewn/installed it, I do not like that at all! It seems way too close to the MAC logo. I thought the Summa/Info patches were supposed to be on the opposite side of the field across from the mac patches according to the model in the "pick your seat" thread. If this is where they are staying I do not like it...too cluttered and it looks crooked.

Maybe they are leaving a little more room to accommodate the dimensions of a soccer field. Also, when you consider there are 80 or 90 players, plus coaches, trainers, equipment managers, benches, water stations, kicking net, photographers, videographers, sideline reporters, recruits, etc., etc., on the sidelines, you need a fair amount of room.Good point...an don't forget the view obstructing light poles they will need to put up. just kidding

That's what my nephew and brother just told as they stopped by for look yesterday and via emails today told me the pictures could do no justice to what they saw in person. I posted picture of HS stadium under construction here in Metro Atl and that picture is not close to actual green color of the turf they're putting in.I wonder why there seems to be so much room around the field to the edge of the stands? Maybe they will lay more pieces along the side still but it seems to me there will still be a good amount of room from the seats to the actual playing field. Maybe it is just the way the photo makes it look, but you figure they would want us to be closer to the action for sheer intimidation and noise.

We used to have wall-to-wall turf in our basement my first year on campus. There were giant piles of it when they redid the practice field so we took a few rolls. It ended up on our front porch for a couple of years after that.Nice...I wonder what they have planned for the Bowl?
-
I see we will be slowing our opponents down by playing on a sleek new gravel field...awesome!That is cool, I see the scoreboard work being done as well. Wonder why they need to test out the goalposts? There a couple of new HS's being built one near where I live and one near where I work and both are having the field turf installed and the goalposts are up and they're about the same stage as info with the gravel being brought in. I guess they just want the posts up as I've seen other schools here in Metro Atl that switched from grass to field turf and they took their goalposts down while the field was being installed. I love seeing the support for the Jumbotron going up as well. interesting, maybe depends on the type of turf and/or the company installing it?Speaking of turf...I would like a area rug made from the Rubber Bowl turf...wonder if the would consider making/selling them? It would be an easy shameless way to make some cash for the university. Better than selling off the urinal troughs!

"Pick Your Seats Day" - May 2009
ditchrider1 replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football
No. They spread it out over a couple days. The earlier you donate and longer you've been a season ticket holder, the earlier your selection.6-10-09? Lee Adams must be a cheapskate? I just mean do you get an opprotunity to select a seat for whatever seating choice you bought i.e. reserved, general admission, priority reserved, family seating etc... or is select a seat only for those high rollers?Priority Reserved, Reserved and Family were supposed to be "select a seat" general admission is just that, get there early on game day for the best seats. You just save some dough by buying all six tickets at once. Thanks! -

The street level entrances for the building. One will house an elevator and stairs (west side) and the other just stairs.great...thanks!

Also looks like they are working on the scoreboard/jumbotron foundation.I caught that this morning. I wasn't sure at first. But, I can see that's what they're doing. 2 questions...1. When is the press box glass projected to be done so they can add the other half of the 2nd deck seating?2. Anyone heard any updated news about a seat selection date? I am getting anxious. Thanks!Great questions.I'm more the bit anxious about the pressbox work as well. As of tomorrow 05/22 it will be 90 days when they're supposed to turn over a finished Stadium to UofA on 08/22/09.The only part I'm anxious about is the upper part of the upper deck on the pressbox side. I have no doubts everything will done less the classroom levels in the Pressbox tower. But, IMO they're crunching the time on upper part of the upper deck on the pressbox side.I'm sure they'll have it done. But, I wish they'd started the work on it already.I have looked for the answer but no luck. Does anyone know exactly what they are currently building on top of the end zone facility? Thanks!

I'm not a doom-and-gloomer, but that item was actually posted on Feb. 10, not today.Posted yesterday was a release about Saturday's tours (please bring your cameras, ZipNation members!).Stadium tours press releaseI drove p and down Exchange St yesterday after my 8 year daughters volleyball game @ Mason Park Community center and was amazed(again) at how little the webcams do for the actual structure! The stands almost seem like they are reaching out close to Exchange and the blue bleachers are fantastic! There are so many things you cannot see from the webcams...it is simply amazing!Furthermore it got my daughter asking 101 questions about colleges and what they have and she was amazed to hear all of the things the U has available. She thought Ohio State was the only big college in ohio even though I have told her several times about Akron!!! She was amazed by the stadium and then mention how "dumpy" their other field is.That is unfortunately the trend amongst the area with this love affair with the Buckeyes...we need to work on getting the area on the Akron bandwagon and I think this stadium is the first positive step towards doing so.

Carlton "Action" Jackson!!!! We are so dead...that dude ran and passed his way to back to back Heisman trophies for me on NCAA Football 07 with the Zips on the Playstion 2. No one could stop him!!!lol  Hope we do not take this game lightly and stomp the hell out of them.
