Honestly I think they need to replace Joe Dunn...his negative aura at times makes it hard to listen. Granted the product on the field has not provided many positive results but...I can turn on the radio and in 3 seconds know if the Zips are winning or losing. Speaking In an overly downtrodden tone "And the Zips turn the ball over inside the Buffalo 10 yard liiiinnnneeee..." That is why I love listening to Tom Hamilton, he is very enthusiastic and does not bring you down when the Tribe is getting spanked. Dunn makes me want to curl up in a ball and cry.

Yes this will be good, almost a Spring Game II. Anyone attending this scrimmage who attended the Spring Game, please give a progress update. I wonder if they will have any kid friendly stuff this year ala the Open House last year? My daughter had a blast in the inflatable obstacle course. I'll do that...i was at the spring football game...i will be going to this and will let people know what I think each position group has progressed since the spring game.... Sounds good...thanks! I will be at this scrimmage as well but was out of town for the Spring game.

How will Ianello approch the BCS OOC games?
ditchrider1 replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football
I hope he plays to win as well with the BCS OOC teams. My main concern with teams of the past are the stupid penalities by the Zips at very crucial times against the BCS teams. We are making strides, have the momentum switching our way and then BAM...15 yard personal foul call on the Zips and drive either our offensive drive is stalled or accelerated for the other team. This happened at Purdue a few years back and then the wheels seem to fall off and they blew us out. I think with discipline will come success -
Doug Martin Laments the Fact that He Sucks
ditchrider1 replied to Captain Kangaroo's topic in Akron Zips Football
As much as I dislike the Flushes, I like to see them and Akron both competitive in the East...makes me hope that spanking them for the Wagon Wheel can also mean a trip to the MAC title game one of these years...doubly sweet. -
Rob ianello said on 850 WKNR friday we play at Tennessee in 2012 Yes, but will Rob be here to witness this? l hope so only beacuse that means we are winning
-
There's a problem with that, and that's the fact that the Zips aren't good enough to sell out the stadium on their own. So until that happens, we have to find interesting opponents. Maybe an ND home game ends up in Browns Stadium. Like when Toledo played OSU there last season and kept 100% of the gate, which was more than double what they could have made at the glass bowl. I would love to add schools like this to the OOC schedule regularly: Pitt Illinois Northwestern Minnesota Boston College Louisville Southern Miss East Carolina Iowa State Baylor Rutgers Wake Forest...have a whole sports weekend...Football/Soccer classic.

I sure do appreciate you mixing in some good news with another bad prediction about our prospects this season. I really hope that ND game happens. It will be great for the future of our program. Rob ianello said on 850 WKNR friday we play at Tennessee in 2012

Didn't Shawn Lemon transfer after "Textgate"?

Thanks for the research! they do have the #1 jerseys but the are just a generic blue jersey with a zips logo on the sleeve and a number. Hopefully they can get the replicas of the une uni's from last year with the white striping and Akron on the front. At least they are aware of the demand. They can just order a #7 and #34 and I think they would sell great! -
UA sued over Infocision Stadium construction bidding.
ditchrider1 replied to ZachTheZip's topic in Akron Zips Football
The short and sweet in lay terms: The case in going back to the lower courts, and we're going to lose. The cost of finishing the stadium on time? Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but they tried to halt construction until the original suit was settled? Basically one of the bidding companies(Meccon) lost out to another company who had bid cheaper. The cheaper company initially backed out their bids and then re-submitted in a different format eventually winning the bid for Fire protection, HVAC and plumbing in the stadium. Meccon claimed the U of A violated state fair bidding practices and went against bidding rules that the U of A themselves wrote into the bid submittal process by allowing the re-submittal Meccon filed against the U of A to recover their bid preparation costs, "other money damages" and filed a restraining order against the U of A. The court threw the case out saying Meccons claims were unwarranted and that the court was not able to hear the case since it was a money case? Oh and the restraining order was a non-issue Meccon appealed and the court seemingly flip-flopped and said they could award Meccon bid prep money. Then, the U of A tried to appeal the appeal sourcing a similar case that happened some time ago claiming that it was only eligible for "injunctive relief" which seems to not be monetary relief from what I could google and de-jargon. There then is alot quoting the similar case and talk about violating the fair bidding laws and timeframes that seem to lead towards if the U of A did break the fair bidding laws they could pay bid prep costs and could possibly have to award the bid to Meccon unless the winning company already completed irreversable work...alot of time frame stuff basically. By the end of the article it looks like Meccon is still pursuing the fair bid breach by the Uof A and the U of A is now challenging stating that Meccon knew about the reject 4 days after submittal and they did not bring the case until 2 months later. That is my no-legal experience breakdown! -
and hopefully some Zippers fans as well

Go to this page... U of A Athletic department contact list it looks like Kevin O'Connor is the equipment manager -
Ehhh...I understand Rasor's point but i would rather R.I. spend as much time as possible getting the team ready to play and win. If we go 6-6 or better this year then we can worry about golfing next year. As far as "contributor's" from last year, they were few and far between so everyone should get a fair shot, of course the way JD handled his talent leaves alot to be desired. Overall just win and I don't give a damn about the fluff

there is an "off-shore" web-site somewhere in Asia that has tons of knock-off and replica soccer jerseys for like $10 and they look great. Kind of a shady operation...I went online one time and was going to order a Liverpool jersey and instead of entering your credit card number they asked for your phone number and like 5 minutes later this hard to understand lady called me at my home to place the order...like a school girl I got nervouse and hung up. Morale of the story is i bet if we sent them a good picture we could get them to make them for us for real cheap....especially if we can order them in bulk? What do you think? -
First of all, it's about time and its well done unlike commercial efforts in the past. I do have to make one poke at it though...I wonder where they got the sound bite for the crowd noise because it sure wasn't from the Info! lol Nice job Akron!

I could not agree more and well put!!! I have been losing faith in the program for a few years now and we are and it seems we may always be "small time." It's funny how quickly the excitement of the new stadium has worn off for me. I am already starting to miss things Pre-Info. The Rubber Bowl was crappy but I miss its tailgating presence that brought everyone together in one area, it's beer garden, cold hot dogs, lack of merch booths and it's lovable loser charm. It was almost acceptable to be "small time" and suck in the Rubber Bowl but the University has seemingly dragged that mentality into the new stadium and that... by no means is acceptable. -

Well I heard back from Bryan at U of A merchandising and he says: "Barnes & Noble Bookstores has taken over the sales for the athletic department. Please contact them or visit www.shopakronzips.com" I checked the website quickly and did not see any football jerseys or soccer jerseys. -

So are you looking for a specific jersey or not? No I just know a few folks who are looking to buy replica jerseys. I would like to purchase one as well. I have the replica #5 White away jersey and I have a #49 Home game worn jersey from the JT days when we still rocked the blue and yellow scheme, I love it has the sew marks and helmet paint marks on it. I would love to get another game worn jersey. Why do have access to jerseys? -

I sent an email to the contact person on the team shop page on 7/8 asking about replica football jerseys and still have not received a response. This is now the third email I have sent since last year to all different people and have yet to receive a response. This University is a joke when it comes to merchandise and the promotion of its teams. I think last year was the first time I had seen a billboard promoting the team and the new stadium, yet every year I see Can't State billboards all over Akron and Summit County. They are so reactive to situations i.e. soccer team success and are never proactive i.e. we have a new stadium, hey lets sell jerseys. I have followed the Zips to many away games and have seen other schools with readily available jerseys and team gear at the games. Luckily I found a website years ago AthleteTech.com that used to sell replicas jerseys for the Zips and i ws able to get an away #5 but now those jerseys are out of date since last year. Every year this school does something that just makes me lose more faith. They have a great opportunity to grow the program and just seem content to do nothing about it. -
No because there are some of the bowl games that are played in baseball stadiums that EA cannot get the liscensing to duplicate i.e. SanFrancisco Bowl, International Bowl so they also share the generic stadium. Its the same stadium that all schools that have been omitted have shared for a few years now...and now Akron is the lone school left. It could almost pass for the Info if it weren't for the endzone seats.
-
Yes indeed, very fun to watch...however If I remember correctly, we primarily ran out of a running formation with a fullback when Biggs was here most of the time, not this crap Shotgun-run nonsense of the past few years right? Hopefully going back to a proper running attack will allow our backs to get back to the Payne/Hendry/Biggs days.

********UPDATE*********** Got some info as to why The Info was omitted from this years game. From a source who is a moderator at Operation Sports and speaks regularly to the developers of the game and he was told that when EA Sports was coming initially to photograph the stadium for the game the weather was awful and they couldn't make the trip due to the snow...I believe the studios are in California or Florida. They then tried to reschedule and the U of A Athletic director gave them a hard time and was not cooperative. WTF Anyone up for emailing YouTube Tom to confirm this? Oh and by the way Akron is the only school who's stadium is not in the game, Florida International made it So Akron you stand alone!
-
I think they missed Nicely & Allen, but that's probably it. You know their story better than the writer does, so are you really missing anything? Then again, maybe the writer doesn't feel Akron has a top QB, RB, WR, TE or K!?!? Hopefully the team changes his mind by the end of the season. The true test for CFN will be how we fare on the Defensive top players. They said we have 8 returning starters for this year which would be our strength...they did list our Offense last year as the biggest disapointment of our team. Still to hell with them!
