  1. Trevor was asked about, nobody questioned Alvin or Jest. Suspensions and injuries sometimes show up on Don Best, but Akron isn't even listed. College football coaches are not required to list injuries.
  2. Trevor Brown expected to be back.
  3. Sep 2nd Teleconference with coach Arth I would assume today's presser eventually shows up here. Hopefully we get the answer to the availability of the players that "didn't make the trip."
  4. Blazers favored by 9.5 "The UAB Blazers will look to build on a season-opening 24-19 win over Alabama State in their season opener last time out. Tyler Johnston III threw for 114 yards on 8 of 19 passing with a touchdown while also rushing for 64 yards and a touchdown. Spencer Brown led UAB’s ground attack with 23 carries for 77 yards while Jonathan Haden had 41 rushing yards. Austin Watkins led the Blazers’ receiving corps with a pair of catches for 51 yards while Myron Mitchell added a 98-yard kick return for a touchdown. Defensively, the Blazers combined for 3 sacks and Will Boler added an interception while Garrett Marino led UAB with 9 tackles in the winning effort."
  5. I know they practice them.
  6. He works hard in practice, it doesn't surprise me to see him have success on game day.
  7. No winners this week, @RowdyZip came close.
  8. Poll close. Hopefully 13 members get the first question correct! Go Zips!
  9. Akron gets 1,100,000. Forecast calls for mostly cloudy, mid 70's, 8 mph winds out of the east, with a prime chance for an upset. ? My Fearless Forecast™ ... Akron runs the Philly Special.
  10. Hopefully he can sign to the practice squad.
  11. Panthers announcers ?
  12. Good interviews with both coordinators. ?
  13. Sorry for the late (Friday) poll. Still knocking off the preseason rust. ? Discuss your answers below.
  14. I like these two things mentioned in the Hustlebelt article. • The GPA for the first full semester under coach Arth improved dramatically when compared with the Fall 2018: ‘as a team, the spring roster combined for a 2.954 gpa, up from 2.466 from Fall 2018.’ • Akron’s offensive line is poised for significant improvement after the trial-by-fire that was the 2018 season. Redshirt freshman Hunter Corne and Shawn Muldowney played in 24 games last year while first-year Zip Bryce Petersen started 12 games. Given that the biggest jump in performance occurs in the second-year, I would expect to see significant progress.
  15. Hooks and Alvin starting at CB should surprise some. Jacobs and Featherstone playing behind them makes a lot of sense to me. Makes the secondary a little more experienced.
  16. Four solo tackles and an assist last night.
  17. UGIII got in the game in the first quarter against KC, and got to play with a few starters. Didn't miss a beat. He had four solo tackles and was very active around the ball. Split out wide once in coverage. I only got to see the first half, they switched the game to the Dallas game at half. I'll have to catch a replay this week.
  18. I'll add a few notes. • The sophomore running back Brandon Lee is fun to watch. I'm guessing he is hard for the defense to find behind the line at 5'6. He seems to go hard at every drill. • Easy to forget, because fans are used to it, but Alvin Davis was noticeable during live action having at least one interception. Jalen Hooks also had a nice pick. • One of the most unique drills of the day had coach Arth with boxing gloves trying to punch out the ball from receivers and running backs. Another coach had a baseball bat with a head cover taped to it doing the same. • After practice Josh Ward told me that this team is really coming together, he said the team is night and day from where they were in the spring. • I was told by a senior lineman that the run game has many more plays in it this year, and he thinks fans will notice. Kato has the ability to call audibles at the line, and has said to be doing a nice job of it. The lineman also commented that fans will notice the offense huddling up this year. • John Lako dropped deep in zone coverage to tip a well thrown pass by Kato. • In a very limited viewing of Peter Hayes-Patrick, he grabbed my attention. He looked to have moves, power, and an attitude with the football in his hands. • I'll second CK's comments on Nate, he looked like a legit number one out there. • Michiah Burton (pronounced ma-KAI-ah) was involved in the run game, he was also pointed out by an upperclassman as one of the freshman that stood out to him.
  19. From Warren's LinkedIn page. Note: Warren has a masters in sports studies from UA.

  21. In limited fourth quarter playing time in his first preseason NFL game UGIII intercepted a two-point conversion pass, recorded three tackles with a sack and a half, getting four pressures. ???
  22. I’m pretty sure this is a “Madden” game, not reality.
