  1. Ask yourself, what is the common denominator?
  2. The next time I hear the word "coastal" followed by the word "Carolina," it will be too soon!
  3. DW leads the MAC in passing yards (3,003), passing yards per game (300.3) and touchdown passes (24). The 24 TDs is also a school single-season record (surpassed Luke Getsy's 23 in 2005).
  4. I think they would have a better turnout if they advertised it. I'll remember Eric for ruining a parlay of mine on this play. I'm asking him for my dollar back.
  5. Season ticket holders get a mass game day email. It was in that. No link was provided. Sunday, Eric & Webster will be at the HOF
  6. Participate in a pre-game autograph session in Zips Fest with Browns greats Webster Slaughter, Eric Metcalf, and Kevin Mack. Session begins at noon on Vine Street. Fans must present a game ticket to request autographs.
  7. +1 French will tell 99% of Zips fans all they need to know tonight. Tune in. PS If anybody thinks they are missing out on some top secret information, your not. It's actually pretty boring.
  8. It also creates natural rivalries, which is a good thing.
  9. Okay, how did the overall level of recruiting differ after we won the MAC? I'll answer for you, I didn't. Terry is doing the right thing by focusing on proper geographical areas, making local connections with area high school coaches, etc. You need to see the forest through the trees right now.
  10. When we won the MAC, what great recruit signed with Akron because we won the MAC? Bowden will do just fine recruiting here despite our "record."
  11. Give me the "toughest" schedule every year. To be the best, you have to beat the best. You don't get better beating up on Eastern Michigan and Buffalo. I thought our AD was "looking beyond the MAC" just a few years ago, if we can't beat the best in the MAC, we shouldn't be looking anywhere.
  12. Football is football, no matter what level. Only the complexity advances with the level.
  13. A good offense will get you a winning record (and into the playoffs), a good defense with that offense will win you a championship. See 1970 through present day. It's hard to build a good defense because you need a lot of good players and time together in that defense. You don't need as many good players on offense, sometimes you just need one...the QB.
  14. Maybe this little girl. Is it possible, our rivals are on the cutting edge? TB, here is your first look at Sam Gordon. I think she fits the Zips offensive style.
  15. It shouldn't be easy to defend. I have to watch exactly what's going on when I'm at the game, but I have a suspicion that the receivers are running their routes, if the ball isn't there, they slow down to a jog. The receivers need a plan after 4 seconds. Sorry, again for making a Steeler reference in NEO, but it's what I know. When Santonio Holmes joined the Steelers, he did the same, run his route and then "stopped." He soon learned that Ben was going to make time in the pocket to extend plays, and he found his own holes in the defense to get open. He and Ben soon developed an understanding of how to advance the ball down field after a route was complete and over. Our receivers need to do the same when Dalton pulls the ball down after the initial route is complete. Obviously this comes with practice and the offense and players have only been together one year. Hopefully this comes in the future, if not this year, next.
  16. Odd thing happened to me while I was watching my Akron Zips play football on TV Saturday. I took a photo to make sure I wasn't in another dimension or an alternate universe. I had to google the roster to make sure I wasn't hallucinating because there were mushrooms on my pizza.
  17. Hmmm, I was planning chili also. Beat Umass silly christmas chili? 2012 Blow em out of the Info!
  18. I think you missed the point of the four previous posts. Extending the play is not the issue, the issue is finding positive plays when the D drops 8. Dalton has enough time since only three are rushing, he just doesn't seem to have options in front of him that he is comfortable with. One solution, could be to take off, take that out of the equation for the moment, now what?
  19. See you at noon SantaKeener.
  20. If anything, this year has been great weather for tailgating. Looks good again. Sixteen point favorites! Cover TB.
  21. Other than stopping the run on the defense, the next thing TB needs to do is figure out how to advance the ball when a team starts consistently rushing 3 and dropping 8. Our offense seems based on quick decision passing, if the defense has eight in coverage, the decision seems to be to hold on to the ball and take a sack, or chuck it 8 yards out of bounds. We need better plays than that to get first downs in the second half. This is becoming a trend on film that our opponents have now figured out. PS One answer, is a QB that can run, but we all know TB's philosophy on that. Teams used to try this against Roethlisberger, but it didn't work, and he doesn't run.
  22. Agreed. A few times last year, I actually counted them on my hands and toes (not during break.) You have to ask yourself why students don't come to a game, not enough entertainment? They go to soccer games.
  23. What was the average attendance for students at home games last season?
  24. I felt the same at the time. I don't want to give any opponent the ball in the second half at this point and time of Bowden's time here.
  25. Damage control recognized.
