QB Dalton Williams is the main reason. He ranks second in the nation with 10 touchdown passes and fourth in passing yards with 1,004 yards and fifth in passing yards per game at 334.7.
The Akron defense is greatly improved under coordinator Chuck Amato. The Zips rank 14th in the nation in passing defense at 160.6 yards per game, and are second in the conference in total defense at 342.3 yards per game.
