  1. Hopefully STO places this in the archive so people that miss this get to see it on the internet.

I'm dying to know what iCoach has to say. I'm guessing a bunch of cliches that give us zero information.

I'm sure KD will represent. I would have him on my sports talk show often because he always gives good information.

He is a great interview, not afraid to speak the truth because he is confident.

  2. Wont know until they play the games, but I would hope to see the Zips competitive against Can't, Temple, EMU, FIU, VMI, CMU and Buffalo. Just to name 7. How many WILL they win? Maybe none. Maybe 7. Who knows. Give 'em a chance. There are a lot of newcomers that might just prove they can play. Maybe not. But as for me and my house, we are supporting the Zips.
I'm with you, iCoach either wins me, or loses me this year. I have to see improvement. I'll give him a chance.
  3. On another topic, if there were no other reason to hate that SOB, last night's response about the people rooting against him is reason enough. He just doesn't get it. I don't think I have seen anyone ruin their brand as quickly and effectively as he has.
I find it refreshing when an athlete says what they all think but will not say. The losing was worse for his brand than what he said. The NBA will sell a ton of LBJ merchandise next season.

Exactly. His comments were spot on last night. He pulled a Jesse "The Body" Ventura and decided to "Tell it like it is." He essentially pointed out that all the "haters" will wake up tomorrow and go on with their little, pathetic lives, same problems as the day before. That was awesome.

I don't have a problem with his quote about the haters either. I'm sure my quote would have been a lot worse. I do have a problem with the, I don't want the ball when it comes down to the time when legends are made. I thought that's what he wanted? He talks the talk, but doesn't walk the walk. Odd. I have to think this changes because he still has time to do so...if it's in Miami, or somewhere else. I'm pretty sure he can opt out of his Miami contract in two more years.

Edit: As of May, Forbes says LBJ can opt out of a 6 year contract after four years. So that would be in three years. I could have sworn, I originally read three year opt out.

  4. LeBron's season is over now, and still no championship. How gracefully did he handle this defeat in the post-game press conference?

The Heat's sense of entitlement keeps them from championship

I'm interested to see the Nielsen numbers broke down. I know the finals set seven year records. LBJ interests me, if he wasn't in the finals I probably wouldn't have watched. I'm wondering numbers between Cleveland, Dallas, and Miami markets. I'm interested in Cleveland market this year compared to the last years Cavs final playoff series.

Edit: The game peaked with a 20.9 rating from 10:30-10:45 p.m. Eastern. Game 6 netted the highest-rated metered market rating ever for an NBA game in both markets (records through 2002-03) with a 39.8 in Dallas and a 36.2 in Miami. source

Still dying to know Cleveland market.

  5. Construction Inside Rhodes Arena Continues to Move Forward

The two team lounges will be symmetrical and feature state-of the-art technology, including multi-screen audio/visual equipment for practice and game video analysis, and opponent scouting. The video systems, designed specifically to meet the needs of the Akron basketball programs, will be synchronized with equipment located in the existing coaching staffs' offices to maximize efficiency in video study and game preparation.

The project is scheduled to conclude in late-July.

  6. well for the people who haven't been there like five times already....how is it?
I met Manny at his pub last night for the ten cent tour. Very nice place. Perfect for that area.

The actual bar is as good as it looks in the photo, looks like it can seat 25 plus. Ten taps, usual domestics, Great Lakes, Goose Island 312.

Food is decent, I had wings and qusidillas. Menu has pizza and burgers also. There is a sub shop that rents space from Manny

that is connected, he said he hopes it is open by the weekend. I think there were around eight or so tables with plenty of room, one

pool table, newer type jukebox, golden tee and the game that sits on the bar. For those of you asking about tvs, there are seven, a view

for everybody in the place. The audio was also playing at the time and was easy to hear. They have Dish Network and the bartender

was happy to put any game on you wanted. 64 old dollar bills are displayed from the old place. They also have a vodka cooler for

those that like that sort of thing. They have outside seating in the front of the bar that is very nice also.

The best part IMO is he has a rooftop bar. Very cool and a nice view of the stadium from there. You can't see the field, but its a nice view.

Looked to me like you could get 100 people up there, Manny told me he thinks he could fit more. Rooftop has a full bar that was

getting completed yesterday, and the grand opening is this Saturday. All in all I think things worked out pretty well for him. He has put

a lot of work into the place and seems proud of the results. Stay tuned in 15 years when the university is eligible to file eminent

domain on this property. He also owns another property close, and has future plans of opening a restaurant on it.

Stop in and see him, he is happy to talk to you about the new place.

  7. Also keep in mind, the Cleveland Cavs recently lost their NBDL team and are looking to purchase a team and relocate it to the area, currently they are looking in the Youngstown area, but they not be able to accommodate another minor league team (the arena currently hosts hockey.) Building a new arena may be a good selling point to have that team housed in Akron.
