Do you think I picked the image at random?I don't want to be a buzzkill, but remember how that season turned out? the Indians finished dead last sadly. -
Beta tested my dual TV tailgate setup today.

I love it! Go get em coach! PM me if you need help.

Links for the two were only to give people reference as to who they were so folks were able to "consider the source". Not too much new on the OTL report except that both Pat and Bruce feel that Columbus State should get one or two year of bowl bans.
Outside The Lines addresses this issue this morning. Pat Forde and Bruce Hooley speculate on the upcoming Columbus State penalties. The ncaa is going to go easy on osu because they want to go easy on them. They aren't going to find anything else out because they aren't going to look for it.Thanks for the links. Having trouble with the swimming through the sea of crap that is twitter and the Pat Forde posts. Bruce Hooley doesn't seem to have anything new. If you can offer more help, it would be appreciated. As far as the OTL report, nothing new there.
Lastly, right on the money CK. Tressel was a con man and he conned almost an entire state.

I think he is showing his creative side of his personality by wishing you a good day instead.Go Zips UNCHECK?!Ya know, don't want to say the same thing over and over, that would be boring.
Here is the most important info to come out of the article:
...training camp on Aug. 20 with an open to the public practice from noon-2 p.m. ET at InfoCision Stadium
Of course, just like the spring game, I'll be out of town. I'll trust the good posters at ZN to inform me.

I agree. But when the guy loses...and he's not even fun to listen to...it makes it all-the-worse.
Split practice...check
Shoulder pads...check
Being physical...check
Making progress...check
Know just as much before, and after I watched...check

I haven't been this excited for a season since the '87 Tribe
-
The Cardinals aren't going to hire Ray Horton. It will either be the Steelers LB's coach or Kevin Greene from the Packers.
Horton Hears Who will be next Cardinal DC.
He sold his Mercedes to a cafeteria worker for $20

New scheme? Can you elaborate on what you mean by that?...new scheme. -
What a great opportunity to learn about the program. What a great opportunity WASTED! "We're in helmets, we're going to wear shoulder pads, split squad, maximize..." Save it. B-O-R-I-N-G...Can somebody do there job and get this guy to tell the fans something that gets them excited about the season. Can we hire Emory? He knows how to fire up fans, you know why, because he is fired up. Rob needs to learn how KD excites the fan when someone puts the camera on him. I love listening to KD, I hate listening to Rob. At the minimum, he did say Go Zips?!?Coach needs to open his eyes. -
Richard Hall left the program for personal reasons
Now we have an answer.

Keep in mind that preseason rosters were expanded from 80 to 90 under the new cba, that's 320 spots that were not available before. I started to look at some of the Mac "talent" that my NFL team was signing and wondered if they lost their mind, then I remembered the new expanded roster rule.LaFrance and Carter just signed free agent NFL contracts, for God's sake. -
I'm pretty sure that goes without saying, point in this thread was that Emory thinks highly of AJ Price. If he is the stud that Emory believes, doesn't that help out whomever is under center for the Zips?....a better QB is the best solution to a bad QB situation. -
Second verbal, QB Franco on Wednesday
-
Thanks for posting Emory. You sure know how to pack a lot into 12 minutes.
I hope your right about AJ Price, would go a long way to helping our QB situation.
-
The NCAA calls these “foreign tours” and allows schools to do it once in a four-year period. Dambrot elected to do it this summer because of a major roster turnover that includes the departure of four seniors and the influx of six newcomers.
Good choice KD. I haven't been this excited for a season in some time.

I feel the same. I'm going to Cincy this year and hitting a Reds game the night before.I foresee it being a "Restoring Buckeye Pride™" puke story down there for the first game back post-controversy. I don't need to go into a hostile, defensive atmosphere where the crowd will be foaming at the mouth for a beat down of the Zips so they can somehow feel good about themselves again. -
Depends what I see on the field. Are we moving the ball? Putting drives together? Production from our passing game when we need it? Converting FGs? Receiving the kick off once a game? Getting pressure on the QB? Rob keeps preaching how the team needs to do the "fundamentals", I hope he steps up his game time coaching ability as well. I'm surprised French didn't ask him about that during his interview with him this week. I understand Steve knows where his bread is buttered, but even a softball like, "coach, do you think a years experience on the field as a HC will help you make better decisions during the games this year?"Here's my question: For us fans, if we win 2 or 3 games, do we rave about how much we are "improving"? -
If the secondary makes big strides this year it will be quite ironic since our former defensive coordinator's claim to fame was coaching the db's and what he left for Michigan to do. I know he wasn't the position coach here but, just sayin.
-
Here is another Bleacher Report article with more details, also written by Jack "The Love Boat" Jones (no relation to June).Three more starters return in the secondary, as the Zips welcome back the starting corner duo of junior Manley Waller and sophomore Anthony Holmes, along with junior free safety Josh Richmond. Added to the mix will be redshirt freshman strong safety L.T. Smith. This was a very inexperienced bunch in 2010, so there’s a good chance they make some big strides in 2011.
If they make "big strides" this year, I'll be real excited about this year on that side of the ball. I am pretty confident the front 7 can get things done. We need our secondary to step up.

Quoting Akron Head Coach Rob Ianello
Regarding the preseason media poll:
"Media polls are based on predictions focused on how you finished the year before. Based upon that, that is where they see us."
Regarding the most important improvements the Zips need to make:
"We need to take care of the ball better on offense. On defense, we need to eliminate the big plays. If we can stop the big play and run the ball better on offense, we will be much better."
Regarding entering his second season as head coach:
"Year one was spent thinking about and adapting to the transition. Year two is going to be about how do we change and improve. Our players and staff are more comfortable going into our second year."
Regarding his coaching staff:
"We had no transition on the offensive position staff, so that will help us on offense. On defense, we had a couple of transitions that have been very positive. (Defensive coordinator) Kevin Cosgrove is a tremendous football coach and a tremendous leader. He handles the players and the staff well and has really added to our staff. We are very fortunate to have a BCS coordinator on offense and a BCS coordinator on defense."
Regarding the MAC East Division:
"The MAC East is a really competitive division. As you look at it from last year, we had two teams in bowl games. From top to bottom, the division is very strong. Miami (Ohio) showed last season that you have to show up and play every Saturday."
Regarding the West Division and the league as a whole:
"The entire league is strong, the West Division is also competitive. We will have three crossover games against three very strong opponents (Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan). This league has very good players in it, it has very good coaches in it and you have to be ready to play every week."
Regarding the format for preseason camp:
"During the first three days, we are going to split up the team so we can maximize our reps. We will have the first and third teams together and the second and fourth teams together. We will separate the players based on our two-deep."
Regarding the program's philosophy:
"Our program is about improvement, about fundamentals, about the process of how you improve and the work that goes into that process."
Regarding adapting to new coaches in the MAC:
"When a new coach comes in the league, you are fortunate to play them later in the season. It gives you a chance to get a feel for their identity as you prepare for and coach against them. It is a unique situation for the conference and we have to do a good job of preparing for them."
Quoting Akron Junior LB Brian Wagner
Regarding the team's hard work in the offseason:
"We have worked through a very long, tough schedule (in the weight room) to get everyone stronger. I think everyone has improved on their core exercises and we have become stronger as a whole. (Strength) Coach (Craig) Sowers has brought a new attitude to the weight room."
Regarding the perception of the Zips by the media in the preseason:
"Preseason polls are all based on last year. We have been working hard and have been in the locker room every day getting better. The media is just making a prediction before we have even played a game. The poll does not really mean much to us."
Quoting Akron Senior OL Zac Kasparek
Regarding the mindset of the players entering the season:
"We want to continue to improve on the things we worked on last year. The past is gone and we are ready to get after it this season. We want to come together as a team after going through a lot of adversity last year and stay focused on this season."
Regarding the offensive line:
"The injuries last season allowed for a lot of players to play. We have three returning starters – myself, Jake Anderson and Mitch Straight – and we have Patrick McCloskey who got a lot of playing time last year. We have to continue to improve and come together while staying focused."
