  1. +1Then you better stay clear of "Zip Hop Ale" the next time it's brewed! If you know the brewer, tell him to brew a German Hefeweizen and a Belgian Abbey Ale.
  2. You are a free advertisement for the game, if you don't like it, cut it off, duct tape the inside of it on game day, problem solved.
  3. NE Ohio has been starving to represent a winner for a long time, OSU has fed that hunger. If the Zips consistently win, attendance will go up but there will always be OSU gear because they compete for National Championships and we compete for MAC Championships, plain and simple. Could that change? I surely hope so, but it will take time. From Rasor's interview with new athletic director Tom Wistrcill "I want to see people wearing Zips stuff everywhere in Akron"
  4. Jupitertoo, I am amazed at how bored you must be to come on to an Akron Zips message board an argue OU's academic rankings. I have to say that you have peaked my curiosity, what degree did you graduate with at OU, and what are you doing with that degree? Please enlighten us humble Akron alumni.
  5. Yes, they walked out of the back door of the Field House and entered the stadium. Their locker rooms are in the Field House, so yes, that's how they will do it game day. They did not do it all at once yesterday so it wasn't that impressive and they were only wearing their jerseys and sweats/shorts so if you were looking to be impressed by this site yesterday you will probably want to see it happen Sept 12th, not yesterday.
  6. ''Artist's renditions and virtual tours simply can't do the stadium justice.''
  7. I thought I read somewhere that we don't compete with them? I saw some clown with an OSU soccer t-shirt at the open house today.
  8. Your getting spoiled. You aren't going to see much more of the stadium than you have already seen on this site by ZN members. ZN has done a bang up job with photos. I have some photos of the club level stuff, and some photos that are sort of unique that I might post later. I would guess many have photos of a lot of players, maybe even one with monster hands. I think it's time to step up your support for your team and see the stadium in person.
  9. Driving home from the open house today, route 8 north Infocision Stadium Billboard to the left. Looked nice.
  10. I'm on your side, I want to see him get more help on the other side of the ball, to me this an easier fix than expecting him to play like Joe Montana.
  11. Event was well done again. Good job to those in charge. Nice to get to tour the Club level this time. AWESOME view of campus from there. For anybody wondering I was able to pick up wifi in the stands today. East side is going to get the brunt of the weather. I sat up top and realized the wind is going to rip through there. West side is "protected" some. The speaker system sounded good to me. Players walking around the place seemed "proud" to me. Should be a slam dunk recruiting tool. Lot 9 looks to be a great place to tailgate, seems like you are "right on top" the game day action. I can't remember who was (wrongly) complaining that JD was not available at the last open house, he was on the field today talking to anybody that wanted to talk to him for the majority of time that I was there. Can't wait for opening day. PS I have seen the bathroom doors on the stalls with my own eyes now. Once again, those of you that have only see the Info through photos and web cams are in for a treat when you visit, first class facility!
  12. I agree with everyone, this was well done, my hats off to the people that made it come together.FSN schedule sux. I'm a Zips fan and it took me two nights of work to find and watch this thing. Good thing it airs a bunch more times.
  13. Your comparing the USC QB position to ours. Talk about apples and oranges. A USC QB has to just not lose the game, an Akron QB has to go out and win the game. A USC QB has multiple #1 nfl draft picks on his defense, we run the 3-3-5 because we can't recruit enough DLs to come to Akron. IMO we need experience on the field.
  14. When I was a youngster before I enrolled in Akron I used to root for PSU, it took me till the age of 16 to realize that JoPa has the same quotes before EVERY season. It goes like this "our team stinks and if we played today we would get beat by fill in the blank little school" I guess if your on the team and you only hear it 4 times it might motivate you, but it has to be tiresome to read these quotes year after year for a PSU fan.
  15. Son of a.... I programmed my DVR last night since I wasn't home and got the stupid HS game. I set the DVR to record it again tonight at 10 with a hour run over. I ain't missin' tonight. Glad to hear it was done well. I also noticed that it is showing on FSN Cincy. Looks like some people in that area that put some hard work into this thing will get to see it too.
  16. I wonder how many bricks it would take to finish the job? What is the cost per brick? I bet ZN could come up with a brick buying fundraiser. That would be fun. I wonder if they have the funds, but just put some projects off for now due to time.
  17. Interesting that would even mention the possibility of leaving the MAC. My guess is that it was discussed during the interview process.Mack used to say the same kind of stuff "we are looking beyond the MAC" I believe was a quote he used in a speech I heard. Take it for what it is.
  18. I thought it said "BAR OPEN"?
  19. Get a Mac! Awesome photos, thanks for posting. What camera and lens are you using?
  20. Before YouTube, Mike Thomas used to do the same thing once a month through the university site by writing a letter. I read it every month. Communication is a wonderful thing. Makes the fan feel like he is part of what is going on and makes he or she get involved.
  21. Wait a minute, what is that smell???...sniff sniff...I think it's, nooooo...it can't be?? Yes, yes it is...it smells a little like....marketing??? Mmmmm fressshhh...Welcome aboard Tom
  22. Thank You Hollywood Nice example too.
  23. I think we should evaluate the situation on September 13th, it will be a much more intellectual thread.I'm looking forward to tailgating ON campus, should be an awesome atmosphere.
  24. If two candidates were the same level of salesman and one was familiar with the area, I agree. If I have a choice of a great salesman that isn't familiar with the area and an average guy that is, I'll take the great one, he'll be familiar soon enough, that's what makes him great. My two cents. Once again, hiring the best guy available. Either way, I don't think we'll ever know, we can only hope for the best.
