I'm guessing it will cost fifteen hundred to hydroseed that hill. I think it will look great to have grass on that hill.
-
It's called hydroseeding. Hydroseeding is a popular means of planting grass due to its relative ease of use and effectiveness. Hydroseeding is a process by which seed, water, fertilizer, fiber mulch, and sometimes lime are blended together in a tank and applied onto a prepared lawn area through a spraying hose. Once sprayed, the wet fiber mulch will help create a bond to the soil and provide the seeds with a water retaining blanketing-coat while protecting it from sunlight, wind, and erosion. As the grass seeds begin to germinate, the fiber mulch will slowly decompose adding nutrients to the soil.Advantages of Hydroseeding 1. If you are planting a relatively large area, hydroseeding can be completed in a very short period of time. 2. Hydroseeding can be very effective for hillsides and sloping lawns to help with erosion control and quick planting. 3. Hydroseeding will typically cost less than planting with sod, but more than regular seeding. 4. Results are often quick with high germination rates producing grass growth in about a week and mowing maintenance beginning around 3-4 weeks from the date of application. Fiber mulch accelerates the growing process by maintaining moisture around the seeds thereby increasing the rate of germination.Disadvantage of Hydroseeding as opposed to sodding the area.1. It will take longer to thicken.2. It will will be more susceptible to disease in NEO August as it will be humid at night. Watch out for Pythium blight.3. Water water water. Get a good automated watering system.4. Root system will not be as strong within one year, two years, etc...5. One strong thunderstorm within a week or two of planting on a hillside will wipe it out. Please take note of this one UA groundskeeper, this happen to me last year and the top highest part of my lawn has still not recovered. But the bottom of the hill looks awesome.

Zips Team Shop Gearing Up for 2009-10In order to increase visibility, consistency and variety, The University of Akron Department of Athletics and its Team Shop will have a new partner for the upcoming season. Currently, the Team Shop is in the midst of making the transition, clearing out its old stock in preparation for the new and exciting items becoming available for the upcoming season. The Team Shop will be experiencing dramatic changes in the weeks to come and fans will have unprecedented access to merchandise at InfoCision Stadium, other UA athletics venues, the Team Shop and online. The athletic department appreciates the public’s patience during this transition period as the Team Shop is working diligently to make this a smooth transition. “This new partnership will allow Akron to take a step forward in its day-to-day operations, its gameday abilities and online merchandise,” said UA Director of Athletic Licensing and Merchandise Bryan Huetmann. “I feel we will be fully capable of meeting both the needs and wants of our fans in the coming weeks, months and beyond.”Link

SourcePenn State could be without its projected starting cornerback and top backup defensive tackle when preseason practice starts Aug. 10. Coach Joe Paterno said today at the Big Ten Conference's annual media days that redshirt junior defensive tackle Abe Koroma and senior cornerback A.J. Wallace are dealing with off-the-field issues. Their lockers were cleared out earlier this month. Asked if Koroma would be back, Paterno said: "I doubt if Koroma will be. He's got some personal problems." As for Wallace, Paterno said: "There is some question. He cut some classes." Koroma, 6 feet 3, 317 pounds, started four games last year and finished with 26 tackles and 1.5 sacks. Wallace, 6-1, 201, has appeared in 39 career games for the Nittany Lions, with six starts. He had 20 tackles a year ago.Abe Koroma (#95)AJ Wallace (#1)

It's refreshing to see someone admit to a minor error in judgment on ZN. Kudos to you UAzipsMan. Nice get Zips! -
I see where you are coming from. I think they will sell out opening day, it would be an embarrassment if they don't.I was thinking of putting a poll up for just the OU game before this poll went up. Seems kind of pointless now.
-
I would wait until we hire an AD.
-
No Akron on this site for MSUSU & IU only listed for 2010 : UC & OSU for 2011

-
Wasn't it in 2006 that they painted the bathrooms at the RB?
-
Except for the fact that the only time the Zips and Browns play Saturday at Akron and Sunday at Cleveland is on opening day. Not much marketing need for that one.
-
Because the big ten comes to Akron so much? F the big ten, don't let them buy tickets until the day of the game.
-
I have to agree that this article is pretty lame. Pretend your a moron and type just a few key words into google maps and you can figure out what the field is called and where it is located. This article would have made a little bit a sense twenty years ago, but with today's technology if you can't find a football stadium, even a new one, you should not be driving a car on the road. Stay home.

Multiple dump trucks are now bringing in top soil to 'The Rise' They surely aren't bringing in topsoil without the purpose of putting some type of grass in soon.
-
I'm guessing the reasoning for putting single seats on sale so late is that they are still focused on selling season tickets. Now are you gaining more ticket sales for the season by doing that, or are you actually losing ticket sales because of this strategy? When you sell a season ticket, you are getting 6 games sold. People that want to purchase single game tickets right now will purchase, one (MS), two (MS & IU) or at best three (MS,IU &Can't State). You figure those games will be sold out, or close to sold out selling single game tickets on August 17th. I wonder how hard they will advertise single game seats going on sale, if at all.

Little dozer now spreading those two piles on 'The Rise'.I think that's a skidster with a rockhound on the left of 'The Rise'

Two small piles of top soil on 'The Rise' ???? Wish these cams were in HD.

Thanks ZFF, I love a good BBQ.Old Carolina Barbecue Company was formed in 1999 as an idea in the heads of high school friends Brian Bailey and Tim Hug. Brian was a software salesman in the newspaper industry, traveling the country sampling his favorite food, barbecue, at every outpost he could find. Tim was a manager for a fast food franchisee, supervising multiple units in Northeast Ohio. During a lunch at a barbecue joint in St. Louis, Brian had an epiphany: Canton did not have an authentic barbecue restaurant and he and Tim, two Timken Sr. High School graduates and former swim team teammates, needed to open one.Now with a total of 54 awards, a third location is slated to open in Akron in September of 2009. This 3400 sq. ft. restaurant will have 85 seats and will continue the successful format of Old Carolina’s fast casual barbecue concept. Guests order at a counter and self-serve their drinks. Friendly staffers then deliver the food to the table and buss away the empty plates when they finish.Menu looks reasonable:

I haven't heard one way or another if they will sod or seed. One thing I do know is that you don't seed in August without one heck of a watering system in NEO. You can begin to seed in September and grass will grow into November in NEO.

Marshall used Eastman & Beaudine also. Do they just use the same short list and collect their money??? I'm looking forward to see our short list. I would guess Mike Rasor gets a list eventually, I wanted to link Marshall's list for reference. I'm watching you E&M... Hamrick overpaid at UNLV ($255,000)?

July 20, 2009 @ 01:57 PM The Herald-DispatchHUNTINGTON — Marshall University graduate Mike Hamrick is coming home. Hamrick, 52, was named Monday as the Marshall athletic director, succeeding Bob Marcum who stepped down when his contact expired in June. The native of Elkview, W.Va., played football for the Thundering Herd and was a two-year starter at linebacker (1978-79). Hamrick leaves the University of Nevada Las Vegas where he served as the athletic director since 2003. He was East Carolina’s athletic director from 1995 to 2003 and Arkansas-Little Rock’s athletic director from 1990 to 1995. Hamrick was a 1980 Marshall graduate. He received a master’s from Ohio University in 1981. Hamrick is married to the former Soletta Prino of Huntington. They have three children, twin sons Brett and Justin (21) and daughter Mollie Ann (18). Hamrick has obvious ties to the school and a solid track record. In eight seasons at East Carolina, he oversaw $46 million in facility improvements. Hamrick was hired at UNLV in 2003 and spearheaded $11 million in facility improvements and signed a significant partnership with ISP Sports.

Sean Lee ComebackWhen the Nittany Lions kick off preseason practice Aug. 10, it will have been 16 months since Lee previously took part in full-contact drills. And by the time the fifth-year senior co-captain from Upper St. Clair High School finally slips on his No. 45 jersey for the Sept. 5 non-conference opener against Akron, it will have been more than 20 months since he last played in a game.No player on Penn State's roster is more eager for the start of two-a-day practices than Lee, who had surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in April 2008. Now he is a nervous bundle of energy who admits he has struggled to control his emotions. "I can't wait to be playing football again, smelling the grass in August, putting the pads on, getting the little nicks on your nose from hitting, busting your fingers a little bit," he said. "I just am ready to go through it again. "Whenever I look at the [preseason] magazines or anything college football, thinking about the season, I get hyped up, worked up. Sometimes, if College Football Live is on [ESPN], I have to change the channel because my adrenaline starts running so much." Lee, 6 feet 2, 236 pounds, was primed for a big senior year last season. As a junior, he was named a first-team All-American by Pro Football Weekly and finished second in the Big Ten Conference in tackles (138) behind former teammate Dan Connor. Lee also was named defensive MVP of the Alamo Bowl in December 2007 and NFLDraftScout.com ranked him as the top outside linebacker in the 2009 NFL draft, as well as the No. 6 player overall. But those projections were cast aside when Lee was injured while blitzing quarterback Daryll Clark in a scrimmage April 11, 2008.Penn State's Sean Lee, right, with Maurice Evans during a football practice at State College in March of 2008.
