September 8th 2001 (I had to look it up) This particular play happened right in front of me. Just like CK describes, it was as if Fuller WANTED the WR Chris Vance to catch a pass from the second best QB on the field that day. HUGE swing. That pass was thrown right to Fuller, it hit him in both hands. I stood up anticipating the interception return....then my legs went numb, I felt like I was part of that play since I was so close and my heart fell so far. I'll NEVER forget that play.
New stadium, new coaches, more team experience, more team talent, senior QB, depth at RB, possible defensive scheme change, depth on DL, schedule, and we haven't lost yet.
I am in the same thinking here. Although our O line is powerful and our RBs are talented, I think opening the game up attacking PSU's weakness is a good game plan. The only thing wrong with it is the higher potential for a TO, hopefully 'Senior CJ' is up for the task. Big task, but I think that is the way that I would attack. That WILL open up the running game. I am looking forward to seeing how/if the offensive game calling changes this year under Shane Montgomery. Can't wait.
Our Offensive line is one of our strong points, I would expect good play from them. Being PSU, I'm sure the defense will get some penetration at times, but I don't think that is where the big separation will happen. I think it will be on the other side of the ball. I think your offensive line will wear down our front 7. Our DL are kind of banged up and shorthanded at the present time. If we are at full throttle up front this might change. Looking forward to Saturday, they are calling for sunshine and 79! I'm not big on predicting scores in 28 point spread games, but I'll give my Zips a 28% chance of winning and leave it at that. If they win, I see them winning 28 to 27. A lot of things have to go right for us, and we need to take advantage of all those opportunities.
There aren't any good games on at that time either. Of course most of Ohio will be watching Columbus State play.Best case scenario, Navy is getting blown out and Akron is winning at half time. College Game Day reports that Akron is vying for an upset against #9 PSU. A lot of fans will turn to the game then.
Anybody annoyed by the wrist band and feels the cons outweigh the pros, should go back and tell them to cut it off and give it to someone who it won't bother.
Neither, just a simple comparison. I saw the article in the Post Gazette on the size of PSU's receivers, big dudes. Can't wait to get to Happy Valley on Friday!
+1Then you better stay clear of "Zip Hop Ale" the next time it's brewed! If you know the brewer, tell him to brew a German Hefeweizen and a Belgian Abbey Ale.
NE Ohio has been starving to represent a winner for a long time, OSU has fed that hunger. If the Zips consistently win, attendance will go up but there will always be OSU gear because they compete for National Championships and we compete for MAC Championships, plain and simple. Could that change? I surely hope so, but it will take time. From Rasor's interview with new athletic director Tom Wistrcill "I want to see people wearing Zips stuff everywhere in Akron"
Jupitertoo, I am amazed at how bored you must be to come on to an Akron Zips message board an argue OU's academic rankings. I have to say that you have peaked my curiosity, what degree did you graduate with at OU, and what are you doing with that degree? Please enlighten us humble Akron alumni.
Yes, they walked out of the back door of the Field House and entered the stadium. Their locker rooms are in the Field House, so yes, that's how they will do it game day. They did not do it all at once yesterday so it wasn't that impressive and they were only wearing their jerseys and sweats/shorts so if you were looking to be impressed by this site yesterday you will probably want to see it happen Sept 12th, not yesterday.
Your getting spoiled. You aren't going to see much more of the stadium than you have already seen on this site by ZN members. ZN has done a bang up job with photos. I have some photos of the club level stuff, and some photos that are sort of unique that I might post later. I would guess many have photos of a lot of players, maybe even one with monster hands. I think it's time to step up your support for your team and see the stadium in person.
Event was well done again. Good job to those in charge. Nice to get to tour the Club level this time. AWESOME view of campus from there. For anybody wondering I was able to pick up wifi in the stands today. East side is going to get the brunt of the weather. I sat up top and realized the wind is going to rip through there. West side is "protected" some. The speaker system sounded good to me. Players walking around the place seemed "proud" to me. Should be a slam dunk recruiting tool. Lot 9 looks to be a great place to tailgate, seems like you are "right on top" the game day action. I can't remember who was (wrongly) complaining that JD was not available at the last open house, he was on the field today talking to anybody that wanted to talk to him for the majority of time that I was there. Can't wait for opening day. PS I have seen the bathroom doors on the stalls with my own eyes now. Once again, those of you that have only see the Info through photos and web cams are in for a treat when you visit, first class facility!
