  1. It was on TV. FSN Pittsburgh's SAVRAN ON SPORTSBEAT. It air weeknights at 6:30 pm.For those Zip fans not familiar with the show, it's like Steve French's tv show but with more production budget. Anyway maybe you can email Stan and he can put you in touch with the right person to get you a tape or dvd?His email is ssavran@foxsports.net I found it here.Ad promo for the show
  2. Well I'm sure you'll like this, Stan just announced Zeke is FSN's McDonald's player of the week.He announced his stats from Saturday and emphasized he is 7 foot. Photo of Zeke dunking popped up on the screen too.Congrats Zeke!
  3. Anybody find an article about Zeke's triple double?I found this when searching.Tiny blurb in the Trib
  4. Anybody have a photo of what a "countdown" keychain looks like?
  5. Is JD thinking of taking the 3-3-5 to the Browns?
  6. Nik is too talented not to see some valuable minutes later this season. I have to believe that.
  7. Razor, hits the nail on the head. Picture a four-man defensive front of Almondo Sewell, Ryan Bain, Henderson and Shawn Lemon. That is a phenomenal line, even for a high-level BCS team. Then consider the gobs of depth behind those four. My point is, it would be a fireable offense for J.D. Brookhart to maintain the 3-man defensive line with that kind of personnel.Agree 1000 percent.I bet the LB's and DB's look good then. They might even have a chance to become "play makers"

    defense

I think it goes both ways. I think the players have to be put in a good position so they can become play-makers.I believe we do have play-makers on the defensive side of the ball right now, we need some teaching/coaching.Not being able to replace Mackey and Stokes...that gave me a good morning laugh, thanks.
  9. Nice job. I enjoyed the video highlights.. Thank you for posting. Good luck the rest of the season.PS You don't need blow-hard Berman messing up your video.
  10. I didn't get to answer the topic question yesterday, but my answer today is the same, senior Nate Linhart. Not just for last nights game, but for the season. He needs to step up and lead by example. I have only seen two games (NC A&T and Pitt) live this year, but his play seems to be important to a young Zips lineup. I would like to see him improve on the offensive side of the ball. I don't mean score more points, but better shot selection and better passing. He is capable of both.If I had a second vote it would be the teacher in charge of low post scoring. Looks like we struggle to score in the paint. I thought Nikola played very well against Pitt in the paint. If our production doesn't start to change in the next half dozen games, I think I would give Cvetinovic some more minutes. If we want to do well in March we must develop a low post game.
  11. I believe that Rich Rodriguez's defensive coordinator (Jeff Casteel) that he had at WVU is still at WVU and is on the short list for Michigan DC.

Stay on offense, his talent will be lost on our defense (see B Will). Don't underestimate his ability (and importance) to stretch the field at WR.
  14. Brandt chat on Halktalk"He is a lanky 260 lbs. He has the frame to go over 300 lbs"
  15. Nice article.BTW, what happened to DLM? No I don't miss him.
  16. Former University of Akron star Domenik Hixon will replace Plaxico Burress
  17. BSU's offense (13th nationally) hides their porous defense (58th nationally). The (5-7) Zips had more than 400 yds of offense against them. Give me the 13th ranked defense and the 58th ranked offense and I bet you I'll beat them in a bowl game. Defense wins championships!
  18. Nice article. I saw the season the same way. I like how Tom states the problem..."The defense — as any self-respecting Zips' fan will tell you — was the team's weak link."...and the fix!"Second, perhaps it is time to look at the effectiveness — or lack thereof — of the 3-3-5 defense used by the Zips, but by few other Division I teams.UA has depth on the defensive line, and nine months to put a new scheme in place"JD, type in "college defensive coordinators available" Research, make some phone calls. Viola, winning season.
  19. I don't need to see any film on Tyrone Ezell, I want him. He looks like he will reek havoc on a QB.After Wanny is fired, I hope he transfers here. I also like his choice what he will do with his million.
  20. And that's not saying much. Both of those guys are CFL qbs. Jacquemain was a junior this year starting his first full season. Butchie & Charlie both started four years, so I'm not sure if it's a fair comparison.Jacquemain is 26th in the nation in passing yardage with 2748, 31st in the nation in touchdown passes with 20, 19th in the nation in attempts at 399.Jacquemain's 20 td's rank third on the UA’s single-season list. Luke Getsy threw a record 23 TDs in '05. Frye is second on the list with 22.Jacquemain's interceptions are too high at 14 (receivers might have played a part in a few of those.)Hopefully this is something that he focuses on in the off season. He has to become more efficient. You can go back and forth all day about which came first the chicken or the egg (offense vs defense), but I'm sure that Jacquemain will benefit from a (hopefully) better defense next year. If JD can fix his D, Jacquemain will get to play with a lead. If he is the starter next year, I wish him well.
  21. Giving up 400 yards a game with a 100th ranked defense and the "staff" is safe!?!?! I don't believe it. Nice find though. Can we make little wrist bands and pass them out to the "staff"? They will read "Defense Wins Championships"
  22. Nice article.I met Burress twice, once in a "night club" in Pittsburgh and once at a Cavs/Lakers game. He was a jerk both times I met him. I met Domenik once at a bowling alley. One of the most polite young professional athletes you will meet. I really hope that Domenik will stay healthy and make this a really good story for himself. Kids need more Domenik Hixon's in pro sports and less Plaxico's.
  23. The Zips gave up 400 yards a game to our opponents. How can you win games like that? While I don't think JD is the problem, he has to make a change on defense. If he is too stubborn to do so,then I am for a HC change. I don't think I can watch another season of teams walking down the field on us, shinny new stadium or not.I voted keep him, and am hoping for a change on our "defense" (I use that term loosely)PS Congrats to Kennedy, 17 td's, six 100 yard games, 5.5 avg was quite an accomplishment on this team. Hats off to the O-line as well.Half of me wonders how many wins we would have had going under center, playing two TE and a FB and pounding the ball.Never mind, you need a good D to do that. We have to play a high risk offense to compete.
