I'd say that's a fair speculation. Programs like polymer engineering, corrosions engineering, and the bioinnovation institute will generate revenue that can help support improvements in other areas(i.e. b-school, nursing school, etc).I also saw that g-mann mentioned a feasability study focused on Mary Gladwinn. IMO, we'd be better off totally demolishing Mary Gladwinn and Knight and rearranging that part of campus. It's really cramped because of the old days. We could add some green space where those two buildings (Knight and MGH) and the parking spaces are and make the organization a little less cramped. The only buildings in that part of campus that really should stay put are Auburn, Whitby, and obviously the main polymer center. So we have the vision...now all we need is some rich alumni...ahem...zipsnation?

I hope the futbol americano team pans out like we hope. If so, it will make for a really exciting fall.

If I'm not mistaken, Miami is one of the few MAC universities with a b-school ranked ahead of ours. Those photos may clue you in as to why...by the way, when is that new College of Education building going to be built?

If Nicely can remain patient and work hard in the off-season, he will no doubt be competing for a starting position by next year. He's just not ready for D-1A competition quite yet.Unless other teams that I'm not aware of have offered him, I'd say Akron was his best option. OU, Toledo, or BG? One's in a hicktown with record levels of meth abuse among the locals, one has quite possibly the lamest excuse for a mascot(alteast zippy doesn't try to intimidate...and fail horribly), and the last is a couple years from most likely playing Youngstown State in FCS. I'd say Akron, hands down, was the right selection.

That's just it. Communications. Really? I guarantee the part-time percentages are much lower for the engineering college. That's not something any dolt could teach.

I thought I read somewhere that we don't compete with them? I saw some clown with an OSU soccer t-shirt at the open house today. Likewise, I saw some guy's little kid draped in an Ohio State jersey. Oh well. I guess this will become more common as the stadium attracts more fairweather/casual fans.

I'm just speculating but his success could have something to do with the offense his high school team ran. I remember Bart Tanski was Ohio's Mr. Football when he played QB for Mentor. Now he's a walk on at BG. He was just a product of a pass first system.

Yup. That was a very misleading statement from your brother. Miami doesn't even have a college of engineering. They only offer certain degrees in some sort of paper engineering that you mentioned. The reality is that BG and Can't don't have a college of Engineering, and OU's COE is practically non-existent(as you pointed out). I'm sure 90 million will certainly help their cause, but they still will have a LOT of catching up to do.Frankly, the only Ohio MAC schools that have Engineering that are worth a damn would be Akron and Toledo.

I hated that. I think I got about 50 cards the first week of class saying "The Biggest college party in OHIO".

I still think the university might be wise to put some sort of large sign/poster up in the middle of campus(coleman commons?). If I've learned anything in my short time at UA it's that the students won't go look for information themselves, you have to force it on them. Without enough awareness I guarantee tons of kids are turned away from the gates on gameday. I doubt many students even read the weekly online newsletter(so that wouldn't be enough either).In other words, students know there is a new stadium, and most want to go, but they won't do any investigating. They'll probably feel it's like the Rubber Bowl days where all you need is some free time and your zip card.

I you're 100% positive that this is where the university is going with open enrollment then I'm completely satisfied. I think that's a great idea.
