  1. Perhaps that's the reason he was hired...
  2. No, it would be impossible for them to include either. I heard they actually send their people in to take pictures at numerous angles. They pride themselves on their accuracy. Does anyone know if it will be on '11?
  3. If I were moving into a new house. I'd probably keep the same lights. Is there any way we can ship the poles from the RB and plant them in front of the stands. It always seemed that those large pillars of illumination made for better feng shui.
  4. That would be sweet if they put "fear the roo" along the sidelines or something.
  5. I'm sorry, but this comment really bothers me and since you have every right to say what you want, as well as I, I would just like to call you out and say, speak for yourself. No hard feelings though, just don't tell me what sports to root for.I think he was kidding. Kind of. Maybe.
  6. HAHA please share the link. I'd love one.
  7. I forget if this is the same kid or not, but some kid who played for Akron and left a while back was being a pretty big douche. He was quoted in some newspaper saying how he loves OSU and Akron is below him. Sounds like a major tool to me. No thanks.
  8. That's a very good location, provided they can attach it to the existing building to form a sort-of sports mega-plex. It would put Akron's sports complex back on top after OSU completes their rec-center competition.Wow. I agree. That's the perfect spot if it would all fit. Awesome spot, Jake.
  9. Jake, your Ohio.com colors are showing.
  10. I saw MDZip mention a crappy brochure that UA sent out, and it got me thinking...I'm not sure who designs all the ads and commercials but, to be frank, they do an absolute horrid job at representing the University. Proenza just talks in front of a bunch of crappy graphics. Don't they get it? Prospective students don't care one bit about our polymer research. They want to see kids on campus walking together in Coleman commons. They want to see the big shiny polymer building and student union. The bottom line? SHOW CAMPUS! Add shots of the Rowdies at the soccer games and show the new stadium. I think the university too quickly loses sight of its audience. They aren't just talking to the community, but the prospective students. And why not advertise in other states? Here's list of all the UA commercials in the recent past. I don't like most of them. The newest ones with Dr. P just talking make me shake my head. Anyway, heres a Stanford commercial that look a LOT like what UA should be doing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aH1aTS1P1sYWhat do you guys think? What could the university do to better their advertising campaign? Or is there no need for change? I'm interested to hear what Zipsnation thinks about this.
  11. Wow, I always thought Can't had more kids on campus than that. I heard in a speech Proenza made a while back that he plans on having 5000-6000 kids living on campus when all is said and done! It'll be cool to know that Akron will now have a similarly sized on campus population, with all the options that urban living offers. Akron will be the obvious choice among Northeast Ohio university's much sooner than I though. Also, that makes Can't more a commuter school than Akron based solely on numbers. Here's the link for the above...you'll have to fix the url because I'm sure zipsnations filter will screw it up:http://dept.Can't.edu/csi/CommuterStudents/...erStudents.htmlThanks, you made my night. Historically residential, my arse . I never bought the historical part, but now that I know how much of commuter school it is....wow, this sure makes you wonder whats going though Eric Fingerhut's mind.
  12. Thanks for posting this. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person who realizes this. Can't is not very selective at all. Yet, they have the ability to rise in National rankings because they have some restrictions on admissions. Akron doesn't need to become Miami selective, that's counter productive on our part, but as you said, admitting kids who aren't prepared for college makes us look bad and it also wastes numerous state resources. Can't isn't very selective at all. If you have a pulse, you can get in, just like Akron. But as you said, the difference is that Akron chooses to admit kids who have a pulse but barely graduate high school. And for what? So that they can come for a semester or two and drop out? Growth would not be hindered whatsoever if Akron were to administer a light admission standard similar to Can't's. We can still help out first generation students, but not at the expense of our own credibility as a strong institution of higher learning. That said, I think there should still be adult focus courses and non traditional degrees offered in summit college and at Wayne college. The university just needs to make a definite line between the traditional student admission standards and the non traditional. And so as not to get too far off topic--C-USA would be our only option. The Big East won't come knocking on our door unless some serious changes occur real fast. That's unlikely. What is likely? That UA can jump into the CUSA and use it as a stepping stone to play more name brand schools in the Big East. Those two conferences are the only ones that Akron has any sort of shot at down the road.
  13. And both are females! Let's hope we can get our first men's championship this fall with the soccer teams.
  14. HAHAHA you're right. These UH fans are condoning sodomy everytime they stick up this little hand gesture. How awesome.
  15. You guys need to go on the url 'kid posted and let that turd know how you feel about Mack.
  16. Rhodes has taken the job with UH. If UA wants to keep Dambrot, perhaps it should rethink the location of a new arena and put it on the UA campus where it belongs.Real universities construct their arenas on campus. Faux universities allow themselves to be contaminated by downtown politicians and build their arenas off campus as a sacrifice to the explosive volcano gods known as downtown politicians. Which is it going to be UA? On-campus stadium = 2 steps forward. Off-campus arena = 5 steps backward to the days of HILLTOP HIGH again. Which is it going to be UA? UA is already doing a wonderful job of promoting the city's and region's infrastructure. In fact it is saving Akron from itself through Info-Cision Stadium, University Park Alliance, saving Quaker Square and running a hotel for the city, the Biomedical Corridor, BioInnovation Institute of Akron, saving Hower House, providing the community with a performing arts hall complete with programming, taking part in the Inventors Hall of Fame School, helping to save the Civic Theater (managed it for several years so far free of cost), saving the Polsky Building and being the encouraging force behind private downtown development. An on-campus arena will serve the city just as well as a downtown arena plus provide the added perks of sprucing up the UA campus even more making it more desirable to student recruits in athletics and enrollment in general. A downtown arena will water down student enthusiasm and do virtually nothing for increased enrollment. It will make UA look like a cheesy community college. We need an on-campus arena for the same reasons we are getting an on-campus stadium. It's a no-brainer. Universities logically build on campus, especially a large people attracting facility like an arena. It further legitimizes the campus and allows non-campus people to get a good visual taste of the advantages of choosing UA for sports and in general. What's it going to be UA?Bilbo, it's good to see you've joined the good side. I figured you'd eventually get tired of the Ohio.com trolls.
  17. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/6470003.htmlLooks like they'd rather be like Akron.
  18. Oh well, its still good news for the city. And not mention those kids who will be living in the 22 Exchange apartments. More bars=good
  19. Dcreds is also the name of a regular poster I've seen on MEACsports.com while I was searching for a MSU fan board. So unless uakronkid is either smart enough to use the name of a regular MSU poster, or a long time Bear fan, then it's not him. What I'm trying to say is that this guy seems be legit. It's no act.
  20. If I see it referred to as "tOSU" one more time I might puke. Bingo. You nailed it right on the head. Most of these OSU "fans" are not like your brother. They didn't go to school there. Just a bunch of imbeciles.
  21. Class of '82, It looks like you've found the meeting spot for the Ohio.com trolls.
  22. He's your nephew and your brother. So this explains the whole Georgia thing.
  23. Is this some kind of reality tv show? Trading Coaches? Pretty crappy show if you ask me.
  24. I think Zipsnation wants a Dambrot type in the AD spot. Not sure if there is anyone who fits that description, but if there is, hopefully the University is pursuing them. Mack's days here are numbered. If it isn't Houston, it'll be the next job.
