  1. Where is Penn State anyways? Is it even near a Beach? (hehe). But seriously, I'm wishing for an exciting game with no injuries. I'm hoping both teams play well and I expect a win by the Zips. What Beach??
  2. I don’t know why we have suddenly seemed to bastardize our rhetoric to gentlemanly standards with our conversations with the PSU fans (Lions 84 et al) on this board and the others (Sporstline, ESPN). Everyone knows that 1. Football is not a gentleman’s game; and 2. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the faithful fans among us know that PSU is our B…ch.! We don’t need to apologize or temper our enthusiasm or belittle our “chances”. Our ZIPS are not “pretty confident”. The are pretty f….in Monsterly Confident.!!! The 2009 Zips are for real and will beat Penn State this year. After we get through with them, the Nittany Lion’s going to look more like the cowardly Lion in the Wizard of Oz. (hehe)! It’s gonna be just like last year’s Rose Bowl for the Lions (a close game but no cigar!) GO ZIPS!!!!!!
  3. BRING them suckers on! I can't wait. Our monster defense and explosive offense is gonna Beat them up and down. We are gonna shock them with 5,000 mega watts of raw ROO POWER. Penn is in for the shock of their lives. Can you say "Bain, Tonga, Herderson, Sewell". These guys are Carnivores, and they are just chompin at the bit to devour some fresh kill lion. Bring them suckers on. We are hungry!!!!!PSucks.
  4. Some well thought out postings. Botom line IMO is we must beat Penn State's ass and then most everything will get much better. Penn State is not unbeatable by the 2009 Zips. They are our B..ch, and the sooner our team believes and realizes this fact, the sooner our meteorological rise to NCAA importance will happen. It's coming September 5, '09 and I believe it. PSucks!!!!!! GO ZIPS
  5. I agree 100%. and PSucks! This WILL BE the year the ZIPS make us all proud!! I will be watching the Penn State game from So. California in a "Penn alumni friendly/owned pub" and I WILL BE PROUDLY & LOUDLY supporting our team.
  6. I for one am absolutely with you. "THE ROO" FEARS NO ONE!! I don't need to read razor's opinion. I Know we can beat Penn. Penn is our B...ch. You know I'm fired up. Just read my previous post below. I firmly believe that one of the most imortant things that our coaching staff can do to prepare us for Penn is to wipe out any semblance of doubt that any player has of our capability at winning that game. If we come prepared mentally to win, we have a Very Damn Good chance of winning. We DO have the talent to beat them. If I was the coach, I wouldn't put any player on the field that did not demonstrate a fiire in his heart and the determination to WIN. To me it seems a No-Brainer. Team Confidence is of paramount import to winning this game. Do not short-change this team. We have a lot of talent with an explosive mix of some key players. I just hope JD and staff get the message. I want this win so bad, I can already taste it. Bring them Penn State Suckers on. I can't wait.If we come out mentally ready to win, we will put a "stink" on Penn that wil be smelt long and far. Meanwhile, The Roo will come out "Smelling Like A Rose". I 'll say it again. Penn is our Bi...ch. We can and we will prove it. Mark my words. BEAT PENN STATE'S ASS!!!!! Penn Sucks (big time!) MY PREVIOUS POSTThis is what I want to see.I want to see fire in the eyes of every Zip who walks onto the field on Saturday Sept. 5th. I want to see our Zips walk onto field with heads held high, and the smell of "No Fear" emanting from their from their jerseys. I want to see fear in the eyes of Penn's offensive team starting early in the game. I want to see Penn's QB staring up at the sky. I want to see our defense deliver hits harder than Superman's knee. I want to see Joe Paterno sweating like a MF'er (no matter how cold it may be!). I want to see Bowser pull in multiple 30yd. receptions. I want to see our "D" Smack the dalites out of their offense. I want to see many loyal Zips in the stadium mercilessly/crazy loud, cheering on our team. I want to see the Akron Beacon Journal and ESPN sporting the following headline and story on Sunday September 6th.ABJ HEADLINES SEPTEMBER 6, 2009THE ZIPS" – THE NEW SHERIFF IN TOWNThe usual roar of Joe Paterno's Lions was quickly and most decidedly squelched as the 2nd half of the long-awaited season opener got underway against the visiting "CUPCAKES" of The University of Akron. Under the tutelage of JD Brookahart, the fearless ZIPS put a major hurt on the highly touted Nittany Lions as the Zips unleashed a can-o-whoop ass culminating in a stunning come-from-behind upset over Penn State. Yes folks, the streets and pubs of downtown Akron were overflowing well into the night with a raucously exuberant contingent of ZIPS faithful celebrating what will surely be long-remembered by college football fans everywhere.Down 10/0 at halftime, the Zips spirit and toughness was put through the ringer. Down, but Never Out, The Zips quickly came back like a thunderous roar and played like monster-sized/hearted Roos crushing the beaten-up & down Nittany Lions. Final score: University of Akron 35, Penn State 24.Afterwards Afterwards no one was singled out for accolades but the ecstatic JD Brookhart as he praised his team for their fight and touhness. Mobed by players and fans JD could take littel time to comment about this historical win except to thank his coaches for the great preparation they delivered, and thanking his players for playing like he new they could.THAT is what i want to see. Who's with me? Can i get a "Beat Penn's State's Ass"
  7. I'm right there with you (and as a matter of fact if you go to the game, I will literally be right there with you), but I really hope they decide to have all that spit and fire on the 5th of September, and not wait until the 15th. I know. My bad. In my haste to get it all down (under the watchful eye of my boss) I did make a few typos. But "No Fear" I KNOW we can do it. Penn State is our B....!

  9. No player from the 2009 recruiting class is on campus. They won't arrive until summer.I'm not worried about Bain. I know they wanted to go easy on him this spring to make sure he'd be fresh come summer camp. I know there was also a concern that he might hurt someone on the offensive side of the ball if he played full-go, which is the only speed he knows.Every spring game the Zips leading rusher is someone that never sees the field the following season. See Frank Berchie or Ben Ruhlin. Generally speaking, I don't expect to see a whole lot of PT from any of the upper-classmen.However, at least some of the new recruits will be on campus for the annual Spring Festival this Saturday. I know Phil Tonga will be there. As many of you may know that I am the Tonganator's uncle, I hope that you get a chance to meet Phil and regards my best wishes for him. Just go easy on the grip! We don't need any injury to those Monster Hands! hehe! I wish I could be there.
  10. Players like that shouldn't be allowed on the team. You play to win, or you go home.I agree, the last I checked they are 19 to 23 year old young men if you have that attitude you will get your ass kicked..man up...I agree 100%. I think the player should be outed to the team, the coaches, and this community. Then he should be cut from the team (whoever he is). There are still many unsigned high skilled players (many still available in the JUCO ranks) that would give their all to be able to play at UA. This unknown player with this attitude can easily be replaced with someone who will be much much more valuable to this team. In my book, anyone player who thinks that we can't beat Penn is someone that I would not allow on the team. Just my opinion. Maybe some people have their doubts about this season's group of players, but I do not. It would be different if the 2009 Zips were the 2008 Zips, but we're not. Somebody better get this mesaage to the team. We do have the talent, I just hope we have the faith/heart to pull off a beautiful upset. Just think of the Big Big Party we all want to be a part of. GO ZIPS! CRUSH PENN. KICK THEIR ASSES!!!
  11. TO THE BEAT & CADENCE OF THE MILTARY MARCHING BATTLE CHANT.Humor Me. SEWELL, BAIN, & HENDERSON TOO, PENN STATE'S GONNA FEAR THE ROO.WHO'S GONNA QUIET PENN'S NOISY BANDS, TONGANATOR, TONAGANATOR, WITH HIS MONSTER HANDS.WHAT ABOUT PENN'S PRETTY LASSES, .........
  12. Those teams would get crippled if they played a D-1 team. Physically crippled. If you thought the 65-0 beating of Hampton, w/65 scholarships, was a tragedy, wait til you saw Duquesne vs. Akron. 100 points might be achievable. By halftime.I hate the idea of playing a 1-AA, but I would love to play Duquesne. My wife graduated from there and I remember all the idiots on their campus telling me their football team (we were in school from 96-01) would destroy Akron. I watched one of their games. They were actually decent, but I had to laugh at the idea of them even remotely being able to play with us.I'd like to hear Coach Mauro Monz's thought about playing Duquesne. I think he played there.
  13. What is up with us getting jilted by guys named "Boo" Jackson??? I mean we're 0 for 2 for Pete's sake!I wouldn't be concerned if were you. Neither one had monster hands."boo" is maybe a good kid, but come on now, how good can one be without the "MH". I mean really. No loss for the Zips.
  14. I hope so too... if he choses to come here, and is okay with those images/graphics, Im totally going to use one as a poster when the kid starts playing... hahahato JohnnyZip & UAZipsMan - I apologize. I felt somebody stole my thunder and it hurt.No Harm No Foul. Obviously I like the kid. But come Wednesday "the Tonganator" will hopefully become just a cog in the machine of a very strong roster of studs, affectionately known as the {new 2009 Akron ZIPS "MAC" Truck}, that I really beleive will crush Penn (or at least beat decisively) and go on to win the MAC conference and gain new respect with a victorious post-season bowl game. Just MHO. After all he does got those "monster hands". Ps – anyone in the near future thinking of making a home purchase, please contact me off the board. There are still plenty of good deals to be had!
  15. I agree. To my knowledge, Tonga has open offers with Kansas State & Washington State.
  16. I realize the 81-0 score was an exaggeration. I see now that Clark is getting an extra year of eligibility. That will make it tough.I guarantee that Penn's mighty little QB will be, I repeat will be, SACKED hard before halftime. The ZIPS are for REAL in 2009. Final: Zips WIN; 35 to 28
  17. Never mind. Upon closer inspection, WSU had no interest. It was just dreal1 doing the same thing as here on their message board. Please show me where/when I was ever on any WSU's message board. I don't need to post fluff material/data for Phil Tonga, the man speaks for himself. I know him, I've see him play, watched his videos, and know that several D1 schools are still actively pursuing him including UA. Unfortunately Scout.com and Rivals.com has not yet been updated with his bio, etc. I believe that is the responsibility of his current JC school's recruiting coach to request that that info be posted/updated. For whatever reason, it has not yet been done that I know of. Myself, I'm from Buffalo, now living in the Los Angeles area. For sure I would love to see Phil go against Buffalo as would many of my relatives. Hopefully a win/win outcome will soon surface and you Mr. Zipmeister (O yee of little faith) will be a happy camper if he lands at UA. If he lands at any other MAC school, I hope you have a taste for crow. Ciao, whoops, I mean Chow. Ask and you shall receive (see 6th post on the following link). At least on the Coug post you admit the Tonganator played second string Junior College Ball.http://washingtonstate.rivals.com/showmsg....089&style=2 AHA - You found me out!!! I don't remember ever posting on WSU but I cannot deny that I did. If I remember correctly, I posted on that sight because WSU is a school of interest for Phil and he has had contact with the recruiter. The interest was by no means created/started by me. It was there, and I gave my thoughts. Still waiting to hear on that. There are I believe several mentions of Phil on that sight, but I never initiated any mention of Phil. Please read them all. As you know, that sight is like this one (for the most part, just a bunch of fans wanting the best for their alma mater). It's gotta be the coaches to make the decision. We can't pick our team no matter how much we may wish to. HOWEVER please be more careful with your homework. Phil never played 2nd string to anyone. During his (freshman) 1st year at LA Harbor JC he did "back-up" a highly recruited young man (also a Poly) who was a sophmore at the time. Of course the "young man" mentioned in that post started as he was being actively recruited. Check to see where that "young man" is now (things turned out well for him). Even though Phil was a back-up, he played almost every down as he rotated-in with either DE. I do not call that 2nd string. Bear in mind that if you do your homework, I believe you may discover that Phil was 17 years old when playing his freshman year, and the DE's he rotated in with were at least 2 years older (redshirted or other). I'm not gonna make any excuses. Contact his coach at LA Harbor if you wish to hear directly from him. Maybe you just gotta see him to believe me. Whatever school Phil lands at, (and let' hope it's UA) it's gonna be a win/win for both the university and Phil.

  21. Let's BULLY-UP our defense NOW.We need to be taking a close look at Phil Tonga, a JUCO transfer eligible, out of Los Angeles Harbor College. A real 6'4', 265lbs., 19 year old. Good, Monster size hands, Wide wing span, Big Strong Frame with room to grow. Could easily put on 20lbs. and still maintain his quickness. 100% Polynesian bloodline.Excellent pass/kick blocker. Played/recruited mostly as DE and also DT, but is absolutely versatile & athletic enough to play TE or LB.Fierce competitor. A fun young man to be around. He can step-in Right Now and make his mark.
