Completely and totally insulting!

Let's break it down: To be fair to myself, I looked at a video that I did way back in 2009 and how big of a mess it was.......... I may not count this form then, but here I go....... Ohio State: This game went from a no doubt about it loss to a question mark. With all of the issues they have now, the players will not let this loss to the Zips happen. 0-1 For the home opener and the conference opener, Temple comes to town. As stated on Zipsnation, Temple is miles apart from the other schools even if they are users of the conference. Tough loss 0-2 Then they head on the bus downstate to Cincinnati. Cinci is not going anywhere, but the pressure form the Big East will make them step up for this game. 0-3 The next two games are wins with disclaimers: VMI is a FBS (or whatever you call it) school and will not be a repeat of last year with GW. Eastern Michigan was better last year by default because of more wins. EMU will be once again the worst school in the country and the Zips will win. However if both games are losses, RI, TW and Dr. Proenza will probably be looking for new jobs at the end of the season. Why do I say this? The first two are self explanatory. With Proenza on the other hand, he green lighted this mess and the board will look real hard on how much money they spent and what return they had so far with him in charge. 2-3* Florida International. The Sun Belt is better than the MAC!? 2-4 Ohio: bad team, at least they won the best party school award! 3-4 Central Michigan: I thought about this for over an hour and I finally said that "they are not as god as they once was." 4-4 Miami: The had the biggest turnaround in MAC history and their coach bailed on them. This will be about personnel and the Zips do not have it yet. 4-5 Can't State: Last year I said that the Zips would not win and I was right all the way. It was so bad that that had the first sellout in the Football programs history at the expense of the Zips. The battle of the Wagon Wheel will be no contest. Can't will win. Not because I want the Zips to fail, but as much as I hate to say it, has more talent at the moment. Your last two games are on the road. Buffalo will be a win by default. 5-6 Then on to Kalamazoo. This is not MAC West Basketball. 6-6 There is my predictions with some type of reasoning to all this mess. I just hope that it happens. Back in Akron and drop by Lot 9

This video does not get me excited at all. It just says "go buy tickets!" I do not have all the answers, however maybe word of mouth might work. As an example, when I lived in Phoenix, I promoted the Zips every chance I got. Most people either said "what the hell am I talking about?' Or they said "That team with the Kangaroo that got blown out by Nebraska years ago?" I was just happy that at least half of the people knew that the Zips existed. Here is what I would do for marketing: Go state wide and basically say "we ARE NOT the Buckeyes, Browns, Bengals, ect." Make us the ultimate underdog. I promise you people will follow just for that reason. Winning does help, but when no one shows up, does it matter?

Second round of conference expansion is beginning.

Some of you need to understand something. We may have no choice in the matter. It may not be us dropping. It may be us getting dropped by the BCS level schools wheny they start their own division. There are a limited number of schools with a limited number of scholarships at the BCS level. If a player wants to play college football and all of the scholarships are taken up at the BCS level, he'll have to go somewhere. Our division would be the next best thing. It's already happening. With all that is going on in college football, change is needed. Either we make the change with like schools or we get handed the change. Better to make your own change than allowing someone to make changes for you.If and when it happens, it will go from NCAA Football to English Premier League style of play. -
Akron September opponent's coach in hot water?
lance99 replied to Dr Z's topic in Off Topic, Smack & Jokes
Don't worry, if this article is true, it means that the knew that it was going on for years. -
It's starting to look more and more like it is owned by a criminal organization.Don't know about that. I am pretty sure the mob would run it better than that
-
I agree. Obama is currently losing to the generic Republican by 8%. Believe me, when the generic becomes real, that number will turn quickly. Obama is so easy to beat is isn't even funny, yet the Republicans won't be able to do it.There was a good article written recently about how FOX News has destroyed the Republican Party. Great read. FOX basically puts lunatics on the air and because they are on the air all the time, they become normal to the viewers. There was once a time when people like Hannity and Bill O' would have been laughed off the air by Republicans. Palin is alive today because FOX kept her alive. Bachmann is alive today because FOX kept her alive. Newt is alive today because FOX kept him alive. There is a list as long as your arm of fools who are kept alive by FOX News.Everyone knows what FOX News is, I even said it last week what is going to happen.

Nice, but for basically $90?

        Maybe the MAC is using the Marketing Dept. as consultants

Akron September opponent's coach in hot water?

I have reported on this story. Go back and look. My tOSU posts have been scattered among several threads, while the Auburn/State of Alabama posts are all in one thread. While the Tressel/tOSU story may be huge in the State of Ohio, the Auburn/State of Alabama story still has the potential to be a much bigger national story with a bigger overall impact on college football than Tressel/tOSU. I don't know about that Dave. The NCAA is going to do everything to bury the Auburn/State of Alabama story. Since tOSU is the Big Ten, they will let them hang themselves and see what happens. -
There are doing this for one reason, to raise cash! And NO it would not work here on a large scale. Would the Die Hards pay? Of course, but must fans are too cheap to "pay, just to pay" Doing it to raise cash? EXACTLY! That's the purpose of the Marketing Department, Development Staff and the entire reason for selling tickets. If we can't do things like this here at Akron, we don't belong in Division I-A football. I hate to keep bringing up UNCC (I really didn't notice them until my wife pointed out their internet marketing of PSLs), but all they really have (they have other sports that nobody pays attention to) is a basketball team and a I-AA football team that won't be on the field until 2013. This link takes you to their Foundation site. They raised $64,000 in ONE golf outing. It takes us two to reach that dollar limit. They raised $90,000 at a womens lunch. They raised $200,000 at their Gold Rush Auction. We can do things like this, we just don't even try. Step one: Put a winner on the field. I know that GP1, but it takes more that a winner on the field. I said in another thread that the sports food chain in the area is the following: Browns, OSU, HS Football, Cavs, all others. There is the real issue Could they do it? Oh yeah they could, would the area support it? There is the question that is the unknown. Always remember, to make money you have to spend money. That is why they call it a investment. UNCC has nothing to fall back on (as already stated). If NFL Football dosen't happen this year, They will do everything in their power if fill the info. This might be the wait and see outlook. Here is a novel idea, instead of going after the Marketing Department, lets just go strait to the top on this subject?

Akron September opponent's coach in hot water?

As someone who worked in the industry for a long time and reading this article, either he is telling the truth, or is a blatant case of CYA. BTW, with all of this (and the mess form the SEC, but that is another thread), can we give them the Death Penalty now? -
About time this happened? Or even better question: is this the "Upgraded JAR" everyone wanted?
-
It looks like the Justice Department is about to do that.
-
What a joke! I said from the start it should be all or nothing if they join the MAC. This shows that the conference has no power over anyone who wants to join this mess. Unless the know that are being used and do not care about it. This is not good. Now we are a "step up" conference with no chance.
-
GP1, After watching the Real Sports Overtime version, I can say that the time might be coming for "splitting" the conferences. No how they would do it would become the issue. Do you make it a split in the truest since of the word, or do you make it more of a English Premier League style? If Jeffery Orleans(Former Ivy League Boss) and Billy Packer is saying the same thing, that Akron needs to do something real quick. I actually have an idea, but it would not fly with anyone here on ZN.

Did Tressel try to pimp him here to Akron? -
What will it take for a new arena?
lance99 replied to MontrealExposloveZippy's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
I agree. How much would a BIG curtain cost so that we can restrict current seating to 50% of capacity and the JAR doesn't look so empty? Have you ever been to Millet Hall in Miami (OH)? What about CSU? They both have curtains and it looks terrible. I was actually thinking about the curtain at CSU. Why would the City build a 10-12,000 arena(and yes they would build it that big) to be half full. I remember back in the early 90's when the city was talking about this apart of the "crossing the tracks" project. It did not make since then and it doed not make since not. A renovated JAR does. What i cannot understand is when Infocision was built, why was the Jar not included as part of the project? -
"Why recruit in Europe of China" you ask. Because that would be to hard to find on a map, I answer. I say why not recruit in Europe or China? My fault, bad grammar
-
This paragraph speaks volumes. There is a comment to be the best and only the best no matter who and where you play.
-
I have a idea that just might work. I do not know know much about the rules about recruiting, however instead of going after JUCO's of "mid major guards(and the Zips are stacked with that). How about going to the other extreme. You want to find big men, as in F/C why recruit in Europe of China? I promise you that they have plenty there and it might be easier. Any thoughts or other ideas?

How is that good news?
