  1. They are some tall kids
  2. With all the changes surrounding the basketball team. Is there something that you would like to happen? Anything from another transfer to a total stud that decides to play for the Zips. Mabye you just want to dream for something that might take years like the last peice of the puzzle. I got the idea from reading an article in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review about the Bhullar brothers. (thanks timmyboy for the idea) Let the dreaming begin!
  3. Now I am starting to think about it more and more, it was Minnesota who went to Can't in 2006(unless Wisconsin went there also). The reason I remember this because Terry Pluto had an article in the beacon about having traffic jams to get there and then coach Glen Mason Was the coach there back in the 1980's and he was trying to help them out.
  4. Again, you are thinking in the extreme. Morgan State is I-AA. One Morgan State is fine. Two probably not. Three, no way. One PSU is fine, two probably not, three, no thanks. Is it exciting for me to watch UofA take a beat down three of four ooc games against BCS teams? No. In fact, it is a comlete waste of time. Would I be more excited against Colorado State or New Mexico State or MTSU or Marshall? Hell yes! I want to watch the Zips play good competition against teams they have a realistic shot at beating and the other team has a realistic shot at beating the Zips. That's good competition. They are guaranteed to beat Morgan State. They are guaranteed to lose to PSU. They could beat a non-BCS team. I'll take the excitement of the unknown in a game matching two well equal teams rather than a certain loss or certain win. I would love to see teams on the lower end of the BCS success cycle(Maryland, BC, UCONN, Syracuse, Virginia, Iowa State, Indiana). Who cares about MTSU (Besides Mr. Holcomb) and New Mexico State. Colorado State would be ok and Marshall would be better than average. Schedule up and play up. The key factor is getting them to Akron. Buffalo has done what Akron only can dream of. I still remember the hype surrounding when Wisconsin visited Can't. Bringing top teams to Akron will do more for the program and the school than even joining C-USA. Grab the attention of local fans. Orlando Sentinel Link No. 120 Eastern Michigan No. 119 FIU No. 118 Western Kentucky No. 117 Miami (Ohio) No. 116 Tulane No. 115 Memphis No. 114 San Jose State No. 113 North Texas No. 112 Washington State No. 111 Toledo No. 110 UNLV No. 109 New Mexico No. 108 Colorado State No. 107 Rice No. 106 Ball St. No. 105 Utah St. No. 104 Syracuse Would you really like to bring in some crap teams ad "enjoy" the game? I know they ar preseason rankings and all but either traveling to or getting them to travel here would be a huge waste of money. Remember, Wisconsin visited Can't as a favor! Can't still had to pay their travel expenses and they still could not sell it out! Bringing in bad BCS teams can just be as bad (Indiana anyone?). Noone will care if you beat up on them. You need mid-range BCS teams to beat up on, then people will start to care.
  5. WOW, I did not think it would be that cheap!
  6. I not really sure, but according to Wikipedia, the cost of doing the national ad was 3.01 million, or 100,333.33 a second! The local station has control over commericals late in the game, and I am not sure how much they charge. I has to be around 100k. Mabye someone knows http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Bowl_advertising
  7. Can somebody tell me why adding 3 more play in games is going to make it better?
  8. at Dambrot's press conference he said that ''I am here to win championships,'' Dambrot said. ''I am not here to (expletive) with 24 wins.'' here is the article: http://www.ohio.com/sports/zips/88488482.html you be the judge
  9. try 14.5. Good thing I only put $0.50 on it. I wonder how many people picked OU in the pool? Maybe one or two in the entire country. I honestly did. haha Nah, you didn't. It's a fools bet. BUT the Cats +13.5 probably tempted a lot of people. I never would have touched that line, of course, the did beat them by 14. That means someone out there won BIG!
  10. I think it can go both ways. It will mean that the NIT means nothing, however it could also mean that teams on the bubble could get in. Hower, this is a really bad idea.
  11. Good? Bad?http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/bl...rn=ncaab,216950
  12. Maybe we could set up something with ACME; we could call it the ACME-Zip game. There's an idea. Football need to look into that also
  13. I think that it is a lot more than "sex sells" you still have to win
  14. This is an MAC issue, the conference leaders in Cleveland have to understand that the "conference of quarterbacks" is long over. Take away CMU and the MAC West was so bad this year in football. Marshall was the best DII had before making the jump back to the MAC and then the conference got used and now they are paying for it.Having new building are needed(in the Zips case, had no choice), but you do need to have a winning program, and that takes time. For the Zips:-Basketball is there, people need to notice, not just in NE Ohio, but nationally-Football have the stadium, now needed to win. Only time will tell with the new coach-Soccer everyone knew that this was a special year with playing the hardest schedule in the country, now you have to keep that run!At least for the Zips, the tools are there, now they need someone (the conference) to start making things better for everyone and at least get back to that point 4-6 years ago.
  15. I agree to an extent. Do you need to play larger schools? yes you do, but you have to avoid "payday games" unless it is an home-home series.Only time will tell if the start playing stronger schools no matter what venue it is at.Also this is a conference matter. The MAC west is so bad(not just bad in football). They need to do like the other onferences have done and start "enforcing" stronger teams
  16. JD will go back to coaching a west coast style offense like he did at Pitt and do well with it. He was a good OC at Pitt when he ran that type of offense.Living here in the Phoenix area and having an roommate that is a huge ASU fan, I brought this to his attention and he is so against even the idea of bringing JD for even an interview. He dosen't think that he is a bad guy. However he is even wondering how can he can get an interview when he could not get it done with the zips. After the way the Zips was ran at the end, running the 3-3-5, QB and line issues that move is going the wrong way for them.
  17. "According to Wistrcill, Ianello will make $375,000 a year on his initial five-year pact and will have $800,000 at his disposal to hire a staff."That's very scary: in the same paragraph, it says "Ianello will become the second Notre Dame football coach to be head man for the Zips, following in the footsteps of Gerry Faust (43-53-3, 1986-1994)."A sign of things to come?
  18. I did not want to give them(or any other Mac school for that matter) any hits. This just pisses me off to no end Being bad is one thing, but showing it in the way they did is even worse!
  19. As the title states, this does piss me off! Was on youtube this morning and I found this from Bobcat TV: I WILL NOT TAKE THE "WOE IS ME STANCE!" Even with all this issues this year. Thanks OHIO U for having an professional production of the Zips brain damage this season.
  20. I voted for 10k.You have to be careful with going more than that because you start pulling form other venues (Civic, E.J Thomas)and so on. The other option is totally rebuilding the JAR. I understand that they (and I mean the city) want something to draw people downtown that is not the Civic and the bars. If they do it right it will be a win-win for Akron and the city.
  21. you can even watch the first game live online, or on Versus!http://www.ufl-football.com/home
  22. "small" might be an understatement. This might turn into something huge.
  23. that made me think of this form homestarrunner:http://www.homestarrunner.com/senormortgage.swf
  24. The Big 10 is changing, the issue is that the talent is going south, or west. The Big Ten is dead is because none of the top talent want to go to on of these schools because of what happend Saturday. The MAC is taking talent away, but not enough. Playing time may be important to players, but the conference need to step it up, but I don't think that they will do that.
  25. I like option #3, but make Maryland come to Akron
