  1. Rubbing a little sand into their wounds. Meanwhile Akron has a lot to play for. I’m trying to count how many players have a spot on next year’s roster, it seems they all have a lot to play for.
  2. Why should it be up to the university whether they play it or not? The MAC seriously needs to grow a set. It was 45' in Buffalo today, and is forecast to be above freezing all week.
  3. Cleveland to launch MLS NEXT Pro Team in 2025 About dang time. MLS Next is what is considered division 2 soccer. No affiliate named, but Columbus already has an MLS NEXT franchise. It would have been fitting as CLE has the top minor league affiliate of Columbus' NHL team, and Columbus has the top minor league affiliate of the Cleveland Indian...Guardians. CLE did have a number of D3 clubs over the years, one owned by retired pro player Mike Sweeney called the Cleveland Caps. The name was shortened from Whitecaps, the team he played much of his pro career with. He also played for the Cleveland Force and Cleveland Crunch indoor teams. I ran into him in his soccer store and had season tickets to the Caps. It was a good time. I'm looking forward to this team.
  4. It seemed like it was all on Akron, but the stats show both teams had 2 cautions each. Maybe it was the timing...
  5. They’re going to run out of yellow cards
  6. To me Coach Stefanski lives and dies on his analytics. The better opponents adjust and the number crunchers can’t adjust as well. The Bengals didn’t adjust to the Browns game plan and lost. Everyone else…
  7. Follow the money. Here’s how selection really works: Which programs will get the best TV ratings? They’re in. Same with the basketball tournament seedlings. Whichever matchups will get the most ratings(dollars).
  8. And the refs are already jobing us. Horrible call.
  9. True that. JT had decent numbers, but pitches for a 62-100 team that was almost last in run support. That changes a pitcher's strategy.
  10. I haven't followed or watched him at Pitt, but here's his numbers https://www.espn.com/college-football/player/_/id/4710855
  11. Zips football has been historically bad during these student’s entire lives except for one season (8-5, when Bowden still gave a crap. Which was good for 3rd place in the East). Being a (non-traditional) student during that time, they were still a laughingstock among students and educators. “Yay we won the Idaho Potato Bowl!! Ha ha ha…” When students live within an easy walk (or bus ride) of the stadium, get in free, and find something more fun to do, it’s not going to be easy to change that culture. It would take sustained winning, a couple wins against P5 teams, and lots of positive news to change the culture. In Joe we trust.
  12. …and they chose the worst possible idea…
  13. Where’s Nick Mileti when you need him?
  14. They're taking charge now.
  15. That's a typo. He went 15-9.
  16. OT but didn't football play Morgan State in the first game at the dialer?
  17. 40-28 at the half
  18. Cast just put up an NBA three
  19. I've seen more fans at a Wayne College game.
  20. First class, all the way...
  21. That goes by a head count, doesn't it? If you have, to simplify, 30 football scholarships, and the other sports have the same number of scholarships as the men's, then you have to add women's sports until you award 30 scholly's on the women's side. When baseball came back, they also added Women's Lacrosse to offset the difference.
  22. Anthony Rizzo, Chris Bassitt turn down options with Yankees, Mets "Pitcher Chris Bassitt declined his $19 million option with the New York Mets and followed rotation mates Jacob deGrom and Taijuan Walker into free agency." "Bassitt gets a $150,000 buyout, completing a one-year deal for $8.8 million. The 33-year-old went 15-9 with a 3.42 ERA in 30 starts after the Mets acquired him from Oakland at the end of the lockout."
  23. I don't follow the high school recruits or the transfer portal in any sport, although the scouting reports are exciting. With Coach Beals, I get the impression he looks at this program as one he can build from the ground up his way, with his type of players. And the transfer portal is a big kick in the butt to build the team quicker and better. Possibly there were too many cooks in the tOSU kitchen, too many contributors to appease, too many "suggestions" from the huge athletics department. His string of conference tournament appearances came to an end and I bet tOSU turned the heat up.
