  1. The new era of Zips baseball starts this weekend Cullowhee, NC as we take on the Western Carolina Catamount. They're looking at temps in the 50's with a chance of rain Friday morning. The games are on ESPN+. PLAY BALL!!!
  2. The game was listed as sold out at 6:00 when we tried to get tix.
  3. TV 8 news just had highlights. It should repeat.
  4. Impressive
  5. It caught up for the commercials. Go figure.
  6. That’s what I have with the stream.
  7. Nice win today, was listening to it on the radio while I was driving. I might catch it on the stream later.
  8. I have Fan Duel and I can’t make a single bet on the Zips. If I try to bet on the spread, either team I bet on I lose money. It wasn’t like that when I started. Before if I bet the negative I would win money. Yeah, I’m a newbie.
  9. LOL just another Spin typo...
  10. Bowden had us on the right track but seemed to lose interest (or had a bad experience with university leadership). He went from 8-5 and a bowl victory to 4-8 (2-6) a couple years later. As far as I know he hasn't interviewed for another FCS job.
  11. Missed your post somehow. He’s back in the Tribe’s errrrrr Guardians league so we should be able to catch him starting in CLE. The Jays are a top 10 power ranking franchise, might have another chance or two at the post season.
  12. If I stayed in one place, I'd carry a folding chair in and out instead of sitting in the stands. I'm showing my age saying "lawn chair". 😎 One place I hang out is the bullpen area later in the game. The interactions between the players can be entertaining.
  13. I have a hard time getting Chrome to even load. I click the icon and get Opera, Edge or Bing. Same thing with Google Maps, which I use a lot because it allows you to specify two or more points (not just directions from where you are to one destination). Probably off topic but just needed to vent.
  14. How many kids want to play D1 college ball on a high school diamond? How many fans (especially family members) want to visit a field a lot of high schools wouldn't allow? Thank you again Mr. Steeles for recognizing that when helping bring the program back. And retaining the lawn chair section along the third base side, and the elevated mound around the outfield. I spend time in each section, especially during double headers.
  15. Those bus rides sound like a lot of fun. Hope the AC works...
  16. You are correct, he is not listed on the Herd website. I saw him listed but I probably wondered off the college site. Is this Marshall Baseball's first season in the SBC for baseball? I don't see them in last years standings, and I can't find schedules for spring sports on either website. Everything I have seen and heard about Coach Donnelly tells me he is a huge improvement over our previous "Spuds". I'm still excited about Zips Baseball. And best of luck to the Herd (with the exception of May 10th 😉)
  17. Marshall is a member of the Sun Belt Conference, but they aren't and haven't been listed on the SBC website. Maybe I'm missing something. They don't have a schedule posted for 2023, but do have Greg Beals listed as head coach. The conference doesn't have a schedule posted yet. Sounds like they got their crap together.
  18. Let’s do this.
  19. Total surprise. I was hoping he was the one. That ranks him lower than whale crap and Sabo. We sure know how to pick them…
  20. GoZips.com has the complete schedule for 2023, and a 36 player roster with a lot of familiar names, and a ton of new ones including nine freshmen. The season starts on Feb. 17 at Western Carolina, the first 10 games are in that region. The MAC "season" starts at home March 10 against EMU. The MAC part of the schedule includes single games against Dayton (twice), Michigan, Shawnee State, Ohio State, Malone, a home-and-home with YSU, and a three game set at Notre Dame. YSU plays at Eastwood Field, which is home of the Mahoning Valley Scrappers. I've wanted to see that ballpark since it was built but the stars never aligned. It's about $%#@& time we play Youngstown State. They're 43 miles apart. They have a history.
  21. LOL that works two ways. Physical size and how I believe the University sees the athletic dept. You have to admit there are a lot more choices in the US for an athlete to decide on than probably anywhere else in the world. And Americans do like to eat… Other countries make fun of us.
  22. IMO the US will always be at a disadvantage in the sport, where the best athletes (and any American athletes who weighs more than 160 lbs) (most of them) will go for the big money in football or basketball. But we can always dream of another miracle like the 1980 olympic hockey team...
  23. Sort of like the women's nail biter the other night. Imagine getting Point Park and 54 points. And losing.
  24. I don't doubt that. I would bet more than half of that is for the arena and the staff needed to run it. And the Zamboni lol. Has anyone heard specific numbers on how much it cost to bring baseball back? Just out of curiosity. Hockey would have higher ongoing maintenance costs for every practice and game, and higher equipment costs. There's a lot of man-hours involved with running the event. Prep work, maintenance between periods, post game. BTW Kent State dropped their hockey program in 1994 and has a club hockey team like Akron's. They play Akron in a home-and-home matchup to close out the season, I might just have to go to them. In the 1988-89 season they had that infamous hazing incident that resulted in the season being cancelled. Stay classy...
  25. Club hockey posted their winter schedule. I was hoping to do a doubleheader with Men's Basketball but on nights they're both home, they overlap.
