There were a couple cancellations with non-con opponents (notably Marshall, for obvious reasons) that were replaced with nearby in-conference programs. This young team (two seniors) with a new coaching staff can use the experience.

I reported the problems some (all?) of us are having loading gozips.com when trying to access the site with a PC. I left a message with the athletics dept. and with Learfield.

I wish I could get this pic to come out better, but with the website not working properly with ANY browser I try, this is the best I could do. And that was with much wailing and gnashing of teeth. I'm glad I didn't go through Akron's IT program... LOL!!

Yes that's in C'bus. I don't know how I got the idea the Worthless Nuts would come here.

The Zips took one of three against the conference leaders Ball State, but the losses were not even close. We play EMU at home Tuesday, then head off to Kalamazoo next weekend. On Tuesday the 11th tOSU comes to town.

Zips lose game 1 to Ball State at home. Game 2 should be starting soon. Stream on gozips.

The future of televised basketball and football games
Spin replied to Spin's topic in Akron Zips Basketball
Me too. I have my DVR set to record both series. Each time they’re on, in case a game runs over or there’s a program change. -
It's gotten worse. I can't get in even with a direct link to a page inside anymore. I left a message with Sidearm Sports.

I'm impressed. They look a lot shaper that the Sabo Zips. better players and better coaching. "Rome wasn't built in a day", but they're headed in the right direction.

The future of televised basketball and football games

Understood. It remains to be seen if the cost will be higher when you pay multiple sources instead of one. We've already decided against the Crew package. If that continues we'll have more decisions to make. -
The future of televised basketball and football games

Yeah Ballys pretty much took over the Fox networks. They still have the football and men's basketball coaches shows, for however long they'll exist. What I've heard is MLB is getting rid of the regional sports networks so they can put the MLB games on streaming. What that will cost I don't know. That would leave the Cavaliers and Bluejackets without an outlet. The Crew switched to streaming on Apple TV. So if you still gave a crap about the team you pay for Apple TV and then pay for the MLS pass. Yeah that's a NO for me. These entities will continue to charge more and more until its not worth it anymore. Nothing good can come out of all this for the consumer. -

IIRC the Zips football and basketball have had games broadcast on Ballys Cleveland. Maybe I’m thinking of past seasons. -
With the Bally’s networks in bankruptcy (and rumored to be closing down soon at the hands of MLB), what does this mean to TV football and basketball games on TV? Will the games be available via streaming, like the other sports are? I haven’t heard any rumors yet, was wondering what others have heard.

I haven't followed the minor leagues in a long time. Probably since Mike Sweeney had the USISL Cleveland Caps back in the 90's. Is this considered pro minor league, or can a college player compete on Akron FC without jeopardizing their college soccer eligibility?
-
I think it’s time to start watching the standings. It’s exciting to do for the first time that I can remember. The Zips head into the weekend in a tie for third place with a 4-3 MAC record, 2 games out of first.

I am having trouble accessing gozips.com on a PC using several browsers. Has anyone else had the site freeze up with the A logo screen? I can't click through, and if I X out the ad, nothing happens. Even if I do a search for, say "Zips Football" I still get the non-rotating circle that stops rotating. The search engine doesn't take me directly to the page. On my Apple devices the circle goes around the A logo and then I get to the site. But I'm getting too old to look at a small screen all the time. LOL

Nothing against Canal Park (I wish we needed it's capacity) but IMO your closer to the game at Skeels Field. The bleachers are right over the action. Or you can move around, stand along the fence or take along a folding chair. If it's not damp I don't drag a chair around I sit in the grass along the "grassy knolls". And there's just something about being on campus...

I tried to fire my speel chiker but it read my message wrong.

Tomorrow's game is televised on B1G, a subscription version of Big10 Network. You can get all B10 baseball baseball games for $40, but the only other game is with tOSU and I don't know if I'm working that day yet. heck for $40 I could probably drive to either. Anyway that's that. With my work schedule it'll be April before I can see a live game. If work isn't this busy/understaffed by then...
-
Wow, how the games have evolved...
-
I might have been a little harsh with that comment^. Watching SportCenter Top Ten Plays, all the college baseball highlights were recorded with a single camera behind the plate. Of course the televised games have trucks of HD equipment rolling in to put on a major production. Otherwise it's a single camera in/on the press box.
-
They did today, with no cameraman or announcers. I’m thinking it is a security camera. Better than nothing I guess.

IIRC the Kent weekday game replaces the Marshall game.
-
The Saturday double headers were replaced with Tuesday games. I’ll miss the Saturday double headers, but there are some interesting Tuesday matchups. The Marshall game was replaced by a home Tuesday game with Kent at Canal Park on May 9. We have other interesting regional matchups on Tuesdays, including home and home games against Dayton and Youngstown State (at Canal Park) and a road game at Ohio State. Not counting some interesting weekend games…
