  1. Dukie is out with a positive Corona test. Just over a year ago a positive test brought the NBA to a halt. Hopefully the NCAA has a better handle on things, knowing what we know now about COVID and sports.
  2. ^ he successfully made a lot of money while not doing much for the growth of the dept...
  3. IMO they're trying to offset their lack of ticket sales with easy ESPN-LMNOP money. It's not just AK it's the whole conference. JHC if you can't sell football in northeast Ohio, you suck at life. They can't blame the Rubber Bowl anymore.
  4. That's priority #1. Priority #2 is a serious marketing campaign. You can go 12-0 and win a MAC championship and a bowl game, but if nobody knows, they won't come. They won't watch on TV. This market put 20,000 people in the Coliseum in a blizzard to watch freakin' indoor soccer (I bought in too). Canton had a team for 12 years. Then an arena football team Northeast Ohioans will support non-major league sports if you get them excited about them.
  5. A "significant change" meaning being a mid-major with a division 3 budget?
  6. Play ball!!! The Zips won the first game against Olivet 13-0. We're up 4-1 in the bottom of the 4th in game 2. The game is on ZDN. I hope to make it out Wednesday and/or Thursday afternoons. We host Wittenburg Wednesday @ 3:00 (forecast for 62' and cloudy) and Salem Thursday @ 2:00 (forecast at .60' and 50% chance of rain).
  7. We play almost the whole month of March at home, and most of May on the road. When the weather is nice. Oh well if you're going to live in Ohio you gotta be tough.
  8. I don't post here often. I've been a soccer fan since the old ASL Cleveland Cobras, then the Force, Crunch, and Invaders playing indoor. I talked to Mike Sweeney a lot and went to his team's games, the D3 Cleveland Caps. But I don't have enough knowledge (or enough confidence in my knowledge) of the strategies. So I just read a lot. For awhile I thought I was the only one on the forum so I posted some updates. They look solid to me. Maybe with the Gov opening sporting events up a little, we can get back to the games.
  9. And it ends 1-1 after two OT periods. Not a bad start on the road against a top 20 7-1-0 team. Scoring: 14:33 Akron Pacheco unassisted 69:49 KY Lindlow assists Bjorgolfsson, Asensio
  10. The NCAA made he change before this season. I wonder who realized they were doing it backwards with the rest of the world...
  11. The schedule is posted. Looks like four game weekends (with a double header on Saturday) is the new standard on college baseball. That's going to be tough on the pitching staff, especially for (basically) a brand new program. Throw in a week day one-off against usually a local non-con opponent and off we go. That makes sense, no more trips to California and Texas, no non-conference overnight $tays. Maybe the virus brought about some common sense. Although I wanted to play Marshall again, our first win since returning My big question is will fans be allowed? Or just family? If fans stand along the fence or sit on the grassy knoll, will we be sent away? It's not an admission sport anyway. If not ZDN did a pretty good job of making the games available.
  12. I'm jealous of their baseball board. ...but their program has earned it.
  13. It worked for the MISL. ?
  14. Big game by LCJ, surprising win. Loved listening to that broadcast crew, a breath of fresh air.
  15. I hope. The ball games were last spring. No announcer or anything, just a student with a tripod. Some didn't have audio IIRC. Still much better than nothing.
  16. I haven't had a lot of luck in the past contacting Spuds in the past. Going to other college sites I penciled together a partial schedule. Several other programs don't have their schedule out yet (kind of late compared to the past). Enough to start making plans. They're at Miami 5/21-23, we have friends down there. Most of the MAC games are in April and May this season.
  17. sar·casm | \ ˈsär-ˌka-zəm \ 1: a sharp and often satirical or ironic utterance designed to cut or give pain 2a: a mode of satirical wit depending for its effect on bitter, caustic, and often ironic language that is usually directed against an individual b: the use or language of sarcasm
  18. All those women’s sports aren’t going to pay for themselves (or attend football games for that matter).
  19. Pete was very smart, but I saw him as more of a “Gary Dee of sports talk”.
  20. He ran an entertaining show. Much better than most of the current locals not named Carman, or Rizzo BITD. Loved his radio shows, TV shows, the How Come Quickies, he was very knowledgeable but didn’t beat you over the head with it. It’s a sad day.
  21. Just end it already
