  2. Shooting a combined 1 for 13 from the field is not going to do much against Buffalo...

  7. AKRON BASEBALL SIGNS 13 STUDENT-ATHLETES AKRON, Ohio —University of Akron first-year head baseball coach Chris Sabo signed 13 student-athletes to his first class. "I am pleased to announce our first commitments to the University of Akron baseball program," Sabo said. "The 13 players represent a solid variety of junior college transfers and high school seniors, position players and pitchers. In addition, I'm excited that we have signed a number of strong players from the state of Ohio, a state which we will always have a strong focus on." The class features homegrown talent. Five student-athletes list their hometowns within the state of Ohio, four within a 30-mile radius of campus. Additionally, three incoming Zips hail from Indiana, two from New York, and one each from Colorado, Illinois, and Texas. One signee— junior LHP Austin Gussman (Thornton, Colo.)— is currently enrolled in classes at Akron. Additionally, four are high school seniors, while nine are junior college transfers. Six are listed as pitchers, four as outfielders, and three as infielders. Eleven of the signees played at least one other sport in high school. Nine earned academic honors for sporting a 3.5+ grade-point average. "As we create a new baseball program at Akron, I'm delighted that we have generated interest in student-athletes who share the same vision and passion for The University of Akron as myself and my assistant coaches. These student-athletes will have a lasting legacy at Akron," Sabo added. "I look forward in working with these young men when Akron baseball takes the field in the fall of 2019." 8. Are football practices open to the public?
  9. ESPN+ is infatuated with Buttfalo. But then again this is the same network that shows Steven Ahole Smith down our throats several times a day.
  10. Gotta learn how to finish
  11. Stupid turnover. And foul
  12. Just found out I'll be working the MAC tournament Saturday, flipped on the TV and the Zips are up on Buffalo. Not a bad night so far...
  13. Former Zip pitcher Daulton Mosbarger is the pitching coach of the Urbana Golden Knights. After the Zips were disbanded Daulton finished his college career with tOSU with a 2-0 record in 5 starts. "He was tabbed a top-50 prospect in Ohio by Prep Baseball Report, after hitting .470 for his career and recorded 16 wins on the mound with 204 career strikeouts. He set the school record with eight triples as a sophomore and set another record with 30 career doubles. https://uublueknights.com/coaches.aspx?rc=134
  14. Lots of empty seats in the lower bowl. And ESPNU is in love with Kent.
  15. He's not even the best now. Baker Mayfield had better numbers this year. Looking at another Browns QB, what could Otto Graham have accomplished if he had today's training and nutrition, could play 16 regular season games a year, and made enough money to stay in the league more than 10 years? Championship games played in prestine conditions? Would he be better suited to today's game than the 40's and 50's? What about Johnny Unitas had those conditions? So many "what ifs", so many changes in the game, it all comes down to opinion. And opinion is often formed by what was seen most recently (or at all).
  16. Is Eric going to see the floor this season?
  17. If I passed him on campus or in town my first impression is that he is a basketball coach. You know what they say about first impressions. LOL
  18. bigger picture
  19. A club sport is started, coached, operated, and played by students. It's not a sanctioned sport. That doesn't mean that they can't be a whole lot of fun. I went to a lot of club hockey games when the team was well organized and played a regular schedule. Attendance at those games rivaled a lot of the official sports at the university. It was a great time. But there are limits on what the university can do to support them.
  20. Seriously? This is the coach who's better than Terry Bowden? I don't get it. These guys seem underwhelmed as well
  21. A couple of bad calls... Disappointed but still proud of our Zips.
  22. These TV hacks are so far us MSU's ass they can't barely mention there's another team out there. Even up 4-0...
  23. Kind of strange watching "Zips Football with Terry Bowden" Same opening that they used all season. Once the show started, David Skoczen and Joe Dunn referred to the show as "Zips Football Weekly". Then they just mentioned the team looking for a new coach, never mentioned his name.
