Like most things, this comes from hearing from people close to programs that compete with UT for recruits. I personally have no formal evidence (why would I?) but have heard enough that I do believe they run a dirty program.

This season wasn't great. We haven't experienced Akron basketball not being a MAC Title contender for a long time. I still expected us to be middle of the pack, but the injuries to Olojakpoke and Sayles made that a tough ask. Couple that with a new coaching staff, 5 players exiting via transfer, and the crazy amount of youth we had, and it was a perfect, awful storm. I think Groce did well given all of this, despite the record and finish. Next year, though, I expect to be a MAC contender again. Anything less is not acceptable or excusable. And I think we will be, which is exciting.

Well, here we are. it's going to be fascinating to watch how the 18-19 team comes together.

It went from a lot of cutting and ball movement to the guards passing back and forth across court, followed by a hoist three or a Utomi jumper with 3-4 seconds left. They got conservative - either because that was the gameplan, they ran out of gas, or both - and it killed em.

The fact that a Zips fan has to even declare themselves pro-Groce illustrates how toxic this forum has been at times this year.

Groce's gameplan in the last 10 minutes left a lot to be desired, that's for sure. With that said, the players just didn't execute either. When you score 1 point in the last 6 minutes, everyone shares blame. This was always a transition year. We saw some positives and some real growth from several players. My expectations are now to return to that top of the MAC starting next year.

Inexperence + bad gameplan the last 10 minutes or so killed em in the end.

Was wondering how long it'd take for discussion. I'd consider it a great win for us, especially given the circumstances, but certainly not the same as an actual tournament win to advance to the Round of 32.

I know you meant this at a jab at the 20-win streak, but there's the reality is that those 20+ win Akron teams had a far superior resume than this one. Winning the tournament would put us at 17-17. Last year, a 19-15 conference champ was a 16 seed play-in. If Akron somehow pulls this off, start looking at hotels in Dayton.

I'd almost guarantee the Zips would head to Dayton if they pulled off the huge upset tournament win.

I don't think it's the primary reason at all, but I certainly buy it as a reason. He welcomed two of his children there, which definitely gives it some added meaning. He's clearly going because of the opportunity, not the personal ties - I think he just chose to share some of the personal side of it too.

I don't see this as Wilson jumping on the first train out of town. He has strong connections to Orlando so it makes sense for he and his family to look into it. If he doesn't get it, I expect him to be here for a long time.

It's funny...last night I proclaimed the season over and turned off the feed. Two minutes later I had gamecast up on my phone. Five minutes later I had the game back on TV. It's tough to invest in a team/program and not get too high or low. I do my best but it doesn't always work ?
