Did Proenza say "Vice President"?

http://www.ohio.com/news/local/zips-basket...-fight-1.247988 Looks like we may have lost Treadwell?

Bad news, I started a new topic on the ordeal.

That's going to be awesome. I love EuroGyro, but I cringe every time I step into that place. Something about cats walking around behind the counter, aroudn the food disturbs me. I am guessing they will fix that. With a new, clean building; I will definitely be a regular there.

VCU for sure, they are looking awesome. I have Duke/Kansas on my bracket. But I wouldn't root for either of them, ever. I also am hoping that by the end of the tourney, Ohio State misses at least 1 shot.

This looks pretty good actually. I'd pay for a monthly subscription of this if it was in ink! Good Job UA! -
Opportunities to see our Pro SoccerRoos

This really is great. I definitely appreciate the work that was involved in making this, and will be using it to program the DVR once the season begins! -
I'm glad to hear that some seats still remain available. I didn't think that I was going to be able to bring a guest tonight with all these sell outs lately. I had the same problem during football season. Non sarcastically though, I can't wait for tonight's game. Should be awesome.

This past summer I saw Willy working at an Aero's game, doing the same thing, pumping up the crowd between innings. Maybe the University could pay him to do this at the basketball games, obviously he is good, and recognizable.

I don't think beating OSWho would benefit Akron any more than beating Can't State. Any "Media Firestorm" that would result, would consist of nothing but who on Columbus State messed up, and who should be fired. Maybe after 5 years of beating down on Can't and the rest of the MAC, we could be considered competition enough to admire positives about a win against OSU, but not right now. Oh, and I would pick beating OSU, but that's because it would be awesome - I just don't think it would make us anything more than we are, except ESPN would have to mention us once or twice. (And it would probably just be embarrassing stats)

Hey! That would be me on the top left. Z.I.P., I saw you several times, I figured that you were a ZNO member. The Rowdies all enjoyed your add-in chants at the Michigan game. Haha

POST IT! I will tonight.

I've had the pleasure of meeting Tom Wistrcill and his family in the AD Suite during the last football game this year, and I also witnessed his passion during the College Cup. He is definitely a genuine, nice guy. He's definitely started off on a bad foot for football, but let's hope (like always), things can turn around. I also wanted to give a shout out to Dr. Proenza. He had commencements on Saturday, but made it out Sunday to the Cup. After the game, when the players ran to the Rowdies, Porter and Proenza followed. After congratulating with Porter, someone from the Rowdies started a "Louis P!" chant, and upon acknowledgment, Dr. P stopped us, pointed at Caleb, and said something like "This is for him." He literally looked mad. I thought it was awesome, he was so happy for Porter, and so proud. I got a really good picture of the two walking back to the team, with Dr. P's arm around Porter's shoulders. Should sell it to the University or something.

I just found out yesterday that I will be making the trip. Leaving Thursday night, returning Monday night. I can't wait! I am mostly hoping that there are no Penalty Kick Shootouts. Nothing is stupider in all of sports, I don't like them. Plus, I almost had to go straight home and change my pants on Saturday after the Cal game. I am also hoping that at least some Rowdies come out, I will be ready.

I have been looking forward to this game since the schedule was released. I just hope that Turkey Day doesn't draw too many students home before tip-off!

MLS Growth is Good for Akron Soccer
jberry1337 replied to bobbyake's topic in Akron Zips NCAA Championship Soccer
I agree that soccer is awesome, and MLS is definitely growing. But I do not think that it could eclipse hockey, basketball, or any other major sport in a long time. Especially revenue wise. If you put season length into that equation, NFL: 67,508 x 10 home games = 675,080 total tickets in a season MLB: 30,213 x 78 home games = 2,340,000 total tickets in a season MLS: 18, 452 x 15 home games = 276,780 total tickets NBA: 17,149 x 41 home games = 703,109 total tickets NHL: 16,985 x 41 games = 696,385 total tickets And if you factored average ticket price, I am sure the list would be NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, and far trailing: MLS If the MLS stadiums were the size of Europe's, and we could sell them out, then heck yea! Soccer would rule the land. But that won't happen, unless they build one in Akron. -
After the newly updated Roowards data has been released, (As of 10/26/2010), I decided to look at the statistics. There have been 6499 students that have received any Roowards points. 40.5% of students that have any points, only have accumulated 5 points. (1 football game) 60.8% have only 10 points. I currently have 50 points, which is; all men’s soccer games, all football games except 1, and 1 women’s soccer game. With 50 Points, I am in top 6.3% of all students who have accumulated any Roowards points. 1.4% of students have received 100 points or more, while 0.12% have received more than 200 points. With the fact that only 6.3% of roowards students (or about 1.6% of the Undergraduate student population) have 50 roowards points or more, do you think that it has made any difference at all? I think that this small number of students would be in the bleachers with or without being “roowarded.”

Captain, I couldn't agree more. Miami will be good, no doubt. But you can't win it all without a bench. As for Lebron, I almost feel bad. "Almost." All of this could be so different. I, as I am sure most, have imagined this happening in another way. If he would have had a small press conference to Northeast Ohio, or even just done nothing publicly. The reaction of everyone would be bad to start, of course, but I would imagine someone of his talent leaving to higher dreams, coming back home in December to play in the Q to a standing ovation. But that will never happen, the probable is a standing ovation of middle fingers. Lebron gave us some amazing years of basketball. And yea, it could have been better. But the bottom line is, without him, the cavaliers would probably still be nothing. It's just a disappointment that he screwed everything up. And to answer his question in his commercial; Yes, you did ruin your legacy. Your Legacy was in Cleveland. In Akron. And in leaving Cleveland, you left your crown.

I would hope not "C", we don't want our guys out there all sidetracked about contracting herpes.

For the 1,000,000th time, because it doesn't create long term fans. It creates fans who think it should cost $2 to go to a Zips game. True, that does make sense. I guess I am just trying to think of anything that can get some people in here. I'd just rather create an atmostphere, and maybe make something happen on the fans end, then watch us lose around 1,000 people that leave after halftime anyways.

I haven't been around Akron for very long, but some of you I know have. I heard something the other day from a guy who grew up here that I had never heard before. There was something called the ACME game every year that literally packed the Rubber Bowl to more than capacity and brought hundreds of families, kids, fans, etc. Sometimes ending a marathon in the Bowl, having all the fun kid attractions, fireworks shows, a decent halftime show (That doesn't involve that guy in the white hat trying to bounce his baton back to himself 15 times), and just a fun time. Plus, tickets were like 2 bucks, sponsored by ACME. Why can't the Zips use the new stadium to create an amazing atmosphere, and watch some football at least once a year? I say, it's better to sell 30,000 2 dollar tickets that 5,000 20 dollar tickets. Maybe that doesn't make sense to everyone, but sometimes you need to take the cut, and pack the place. If you get sponsors, than maybe you can do it without even taking a cut. But that's not the point. We need people in this place, it is completely embarrassing to see three full sections completely empty in one of the nicest stadiums I have ever been in. Yea, it would be great to get fans into the seats by winning, but maybe we need that energy in the stands that we had against Morgan State to even win?

We did not defer, we chose to kick. This is one of the stupidest mistakes a player can make. Basically, if you choose to receive; you receive the ball, and the other team picks what they want second half (receive), if you defer; you wait until second half to decide, making the other team choose to receive to start the game. But if you choose "kick", you just gave the opposing team choice second half to receive again, which is what happened. Frankly, I think that if our team captain (I am not sure who it was) can make that mistake, we have many more losses to witness. That should never happen.
