It was good to see Akron got the two crappiest announcers for the 2011 NCAA tournament. Apparently we beat Iona in the Mac Championship game. Then they talked about how awesome Quincy Diggs was in the MAC Championship game when he didn't play that well. It was the Western Michigan game that he did awesome. I loved when the one guy asked the hispanic guy if ND had a pretty easy road after this game when the Zips were still in it with 5:00 minutes to go. They had no clue of anything about the players or how to pronounce Nitro. They were just reading off cue cards. Maybe next year they can get French to do the game.

The MAC sure doesn't strive for excellence in their basketball refs. I think they should show one of the those MAC moment videos at the Championship game tonight and show all the blown calls by the worthless MAC referees. It sucks when you are jealous of Big East Refs.

I do not mean to be a Debbie downer in anyway and I am absolutely stunned and stoked at how well the Zips have been playing. Does anyone else think though during this win streak that the Zips have proven to be able to play and win without their big man Zeke Marshall. I understand he is only a sophomore and I think the real Zeke could potentially blossom next year, but the guy looks completely lost out there on defense and offense. Sometimes he plays like he is 6' tall. Missing layups instead of slamming home the dunk. Every time Zeke is fed the ball you can tell he is already thinking about passing it as soon as it touches his hands, he wants no part of it. He dishes it off as quickly as he gets it. Right now he lacks confidence, intensity and the pissed off attitude of what a big man should play like. He plays way to soft out there. Honestly, Zeke is not a true center either, no matter how tall he is. To me he is more like a forward in Chris Bosh. He is too long and lanky to out muscle and throw around any big guys down low. Buffalo's Javon Mcrea played like an awesome center and moved so easily around the Zeke. Definitely know Zeke will improve though, just super frustrating watching his size not being able to produce much lately.

One thing I did not like last night was the Zips after Abreu fouled out. Dambrot has to take the blame on the conservative play with about 6:00 minutes left in the game. The Zips were playing not to lose the game rather than playing to win the game. I don't mind killing time when you're up by 20 points, but being only up by about 10 or 11 is to passive to win a game. Good teams are aggressive and take any chance out of coming back by pouring the pressure on opponents rather than moping around killing time and not hitting shots and then getting burned in transition. A win is a win, but next time I would like to see the Zips attack at the end instead of playing like the prevent defense NFL teams do which always cost them the game. KD rally your troops man, MAC season is here and this is no time to let up on the gas. Pour it on more than ever at the end of the game. A deserving win, but barely. zips.doc
