Well, may not mean much for all of you now. But it mattered to me in two ways: 1) You can almost say home field advantage through the quarterfinals is out the window. One more tie or loss, and most likely we'll get just two home games with the quarterfinal on the road. 2) Last year's College Cup, the AK-Rowdies that went on the trip, met some/a lot of the Gaucho Locos and hanged out a lot before, during, and after the games. This game was a "bragging rights" type of game for the students that went on that trip. My thoughts on the game. Worse defensive effort I've seen from the Zips since I started going to UA in fall of 2009. However, I feel GoZips hit the shot at the buzzer on this one. When you have an inexperienced bunch of newcomers, and you take a mid-week trip to Santa Barbara? The effort may not be all there, and to me, it showed. Have to remember, a lot of our players probably have never traveled over 2000 miles in the middle of the week before. The Cal-State Northridge tournament was not kind to us, and I feel this might be a part of those results as well. Luckily for us, the College Cup is in Alabama. Hopefully we don't have to go to the West Coast for a quarterfinal match, or we may be in trouble again...

Weather forecast calls for rain and much cooler than normal temps. UCSB poster on BigSoccer predicts 5k if rain and 8-10K if not. No where close to record. Maybe fans have given up as they already have 3 losses. I am not in the least bit complaining, because our attendance has been spectacular, but wouldn't that be INSANE to have 10,000 at a Zips game? There is nowhere to sit. At this point, attendance is limited only by capacity. More would attend if they could just see the pitch. Zips are the hottest tix in town. that's why I would love to see them expand grandstand to the other side of the stadium behind the benches. Leave the sidewalk there, and build the grandstand in place of the worn out tennis courts there...

I've heard things about her from people I know that used to coach her. She's a really good player. Don't be surprise if Jodi Kest doesn't redshirt her...

I heard that the offside calls were very "bizarre". Apparently the sideline officials aren't grasping that when the ball is kicked, is when the offsides rule is in effect. When the ball gets to that person, it's not necessarily an offsides. A lot of the referees are getting lazy and not trying to watch the line of defense and the ball, and just focus on the line of defense, so they don't know when the ball is technically kicked. That's what I heard happened in today's game...

So not sure what you all were hearing...we do have some new chants...maybe you heard those for the majority of it. Anyways, there's still improvement that could be done...If pro supporters can get it done, so can we.. I can pick up on any chant, I'm familiar with most soccer chants in the US and the world. But for the average or new soccer fan. They have no clue. Improvements would be great, but I'm saying most great supporter groups have CAPO's to direct the supporter groups. Just a thought. No problem. I love your enthusiasm. Part of my discussion stems from discussions during last basketball season where some forum members think it is right and OK to isolate and ridicule fans that do not participate. So...when you use the word "isolate" I may be assuming something your did not mean. If you go the women's soccer games as you say you do...you will surely will see me with my 3 year old daughter. We go to all the games where it is not raining. (we are not chanting :-). Stop by an introduce yourself. I might of seen you walking by us in the 2nd half on sunday. We were behind EMU's goalie. In fact, my vuvuzela got thrown over to the practice field by the EMU lady in the white shirt that was taking photos. She thought it was unsportsmanlike to be blowing the vuvuzelas during the women's soccer match.

Sorry for the way I'm coming off on here. Just getting confused by it. Just don't understand about the respect thing. I've been respectful to the fans. People we're in front of me that aren't normally in front of me (I'm usually in front row). Just hard for me to do that when I'm repeatedly getting not respected. two wrongs don't make a right, and I know that. I never said anything to them, I kept the thoughts in my head to discuss here. Because there's no where else for the students to go that just want to watch the game and not chant, etc. I GET THAT. Just frustrating when you have more students and the opposing students are louder in your own house.
