  1. Still in shock. Can't believe it ended this way... Soccer can be such a cruel sport. In no other sport can you so thoroughly outplay your opponent and come away with nothing. Thanks Caleb for all you've done for this program.
  2. I graduate in December. Is it safe to assume that my Zipcard won't work for the rest of the basketball season? If so, I may consider buying these.
  3. I just called up to the office and the person I spoke with said I shouldn't have any problem getting walk up tickets. Just advised me to get there early to avoid the line.
  4. None of the times are listed on the NCAA bracket. I'd guess it's still 4:30. Also, I hope the UCONN game is at 1:00 again, so we have some inclination if this is truly Porter's final home game. It's sad to think we may never see him roaming the sidelines at "The Pouch" again after next week.
  5. If you have a smartphone or tablet, vote on there too!
  6. Here's what I'd like to see. It's fairly consistent with what we've seen this year and is our best lineup imo .................Brenes................... Stevenson.................Serna..... ........Quinn...........Scottie........ ..................Trapp.................. Derschang.....................Yedlin ...........Gallego....Barson.......... ..................Meves....................
  7. It's for Coaches vs. Cancer. There are bigger things in life than sports.
  8. Porter will be gone the day after the College Cup. Hopefully, he's working up till then. I don't have any grand ideas, but I think it should be immediately after a MAC Tourney game and involve some sort of tribute from the ROWDIES. Maybe we could return the many favors and buy him pizza? Also, even though it's before my time on campus, a return of as many members of the Goal Patrol as possible would be pretty awesome!
  9. I thought Salaam played some pretty good defense, but I agree with the others on his lack of crosses into the box. I have to admit I questioned Porter when Salaam came out and he shifted Serna to LB. His small stature had me scared against a big team like OSU. I would have rather seen Derschang go to LB. Who am I to question Porter though!
  10. I'll be heading down with a couple friends. Hope the ROWDIES have at least two buses. Don't forget what happened down there two years ago!
  11. I looked up Embick's salary on http://www.buckeyeinstitute.org/higher-ed and he made almost $71,000 in 2010. Seems high for a college soccer assistant. I'm thinking that Embick probably has been tapped as Porter's replacement for a long time and they were paying him nearly HC money to keep him from accepting other positions. Just a hypothesis.
  12. Makes sense to me. Doesn't seem like there's any way they'd tweet out about a major announcement if it was anything else. Side note, @ZipsPaul is an outstanding follow. Great job by the marketing team setting these GAs up with twitter to follow the various sports.
  13. Derschang tweeted this morning that he is still out for tonight with concussion symptoms. Said he expects to be back for Saturday. Not sure on Barson.
  14. Zips come in at #6 and we still have a lot of MAC play left. http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/soccer-men/d1...mens_soccer_rpi
  15. One other thing, everyone keeps saying we need to emulate the process we used when hiring Porter. While I agree with that, it makes me wonder... how much of the Porter signing was luck? I don't follow college soccer enough nationally, but you see assistants hired all the time in other sports that fail miserably. I'm sure they interview great and lay out a great vision for success, but when it comes to wins and losses they fail. To me, that's the biggest reason to be wary about going for an assistant. Too much uncertainty and chance are in the equation with hiring an assistant.
  16. I completely agree. My only exception would be Embick. Personally, he's who I want from a coaching perspective. I'm sure he can continue the play of "sexy football." The only thing that concerns me is the recruiting aspect. I have no idea if he can be a good recruiter.
  17. These scores are great. Thanks for keeping us updated. Is there anyway we can keep it to one thread, instead of starting a new one every game day?
  18. I'm surprised Shea isn't at the top. He's already had some good success on the USMNT and he was great last season. I don't follow the MLS, but I guess he's had a down year. Must have impacted his standing.
  19. Serna up top should have happened a long time ago! Quinn back in was huge too. His goal was a thing of beauty!
  20. Oops! haha. Now I know how Can't students feel. Meant a 4-3-3. Caldwell, Trapp, and Serna in MF.
  21. My guess would be Schmitt, Koroma, Stevenson up top. Then Caldwell, Trapp, Derschang, and Serna in the middle. Typical back four.
  22. AS disappointing as it was to draw when we deserved to win, I'm coming out of this one on the positive side. It calmed any doubts I had about this team not being focused due to the Porter thing. This was the one game that would have been affected the most and the Zips played really well.
  23. That was horrendous! He was a good 10 feet onside!
